worlids rejects long term offer

lulz hell of a typo contract, I sit corrected

Right now, Worilds is not worth half of what they are paying him this year. He's done nothing in his career. He needs to come out with 10 plus sacks just to earn what he is making this year. I still don't see us giving him any type of top 3 contract that he will probably want. And, I wouldn't tag him again. We can find something on the scrap heap to fill in.

He looked REALLY good in the second half of last season.

He and his agent would not be demanding as much as they are if they did not feel the video he displayed in 2013, combined with his age, did not potentially warrant him being paid top money.

The league is starved for merely good pass rushers in what is becoming an increasingly pass-oriented league.

That is just it. People might think he is not WORTH half of what he is getting paid, but the point is that, if you want someone who can get you 8+ sacks a year (and he did it in limited starts?). With almost identical stats to Worilds, Kruger got a very nice payday. I think he had his best year with Suggs on the other side. He had 9 sacks When he ended up at a team that didn't have a good LB on the other side, he didn't do so well. That ought to tell teams to be leery of overpaying, but I'd bet it isn't.

Worilds had 8 while everyone was, what, double teaming Jarvis? Either a rookie LB in the middle next to him or Troy playing LB/hybrid? Nothwithstanding a serious injury this season, somebody is going to pay him. He may not have gotten $9+m for the 2014 season, but I'd bet it would be closer to $9m than $8m.

Does anyone remember the days, when talk of sacks were always double digit? Seems this day and age, 8 is the requisite. Ahh the good O'l days, just a memory........

Salute the nation

To be clear, I am not advocating that, uhh, Eight is Enough, or good enough. He gets 8 for a partial year. IF he can get that production through a whole year, he will get paid. If he does 8 and doesn't play all year, I think he still gets paid pretty well.

the good olde days are when we had Aaron Smith, Casey and Keisel in their prime and two real edge rusher OLB's in Harrison and Woodley

this sad sack bunch now can't even sniff their jockstraps

Since worilds wants to leave have him split snaps with some of the other lbs on the roster. Not only will we get better look at what these other guys can do....perhaps they will outperform him.

if he has 10+ sack year and is solid vs the run, he will command the type of cash Woodley got from us 6 60. We have 3 big deals to do in the winter Ben Heyward Allen and the cheapest Cortez is going to be in the Gilbert range.
Hwyward likely between 6.5-8 mill avg over 6 years
Ben we have to equal the 19 mill or a large gauranteed cash vs what cincy gave dalton since ben has a better resume, an idea to pay ben front loaded first 3 years of a 6 year deal with a hometown discount
6 years 114 mill 20 mill guaranteed.

Allen 5 years 32 mill 6.6 mill SB

to make room I am thinking we will have to ask brown, pouncey to take pay cuts to accommodate a worlids 6 years 44 mill 10 mill SB of the 42 mill. If he duplicates his 2nd half stats then we have little leverage to not offer the tag numbers a 5 year 55 mill type deal which we highly will unlikely be able to.
With Spence looking very good if Worlids leaves we could play Shazier at LOLB and Spence at LILB, or vice versa as both were projected as weakside 43 OLB's in their draft classes.

No way we ask Brown and Pouncey to take pay cuts. Brown will probably be getting a raise soon and pouncey just got a deal.

then it will be back to timmons and the only other player with a high cap hit we can ask aside from brown is mitchell and he just got here.
