Rejoice! After three demoralizing weeks, the Pittsburgh Steelers saw their best offensive performance of the 2021 NFL season. Najee Harris eclipsed 100 yards rushing, Ben Roethlisberger tossed a couple of touchdowns, and the defense made the final play to seal the deal.

Don’t look now, but the Steelers are suddenly in a position to be a game back in the AFC North by the end of Week 6. With the Baltimore Ravens and Cleveland Browns facing tough challenges, the Cincinnati Bengals facing a team that has given good teams fits, and the Steelers facing a gashed Seattle Seahawks team, anything is possible.

The Steelers simply need to take care of business. After this matchup, they will have the opportunity to heal up during the bye week—where we could see the return of players who are currently on IR. This obviously is much needed—especially after the nagging groin injuries and loss of JuJu Smith-Schuster.

Last week on Yay or Nay, we were 4-1! This week will be a pivotal game as every week here on out will be. The offensive line and quarterback play improved the last week very much. There are certainly some improvements to be made, but last week was the first time we really saw everything start to show cohesion. And without further delay…

The Steelers defense allows less than 200 yards passing

James Pierre Terrell Edmunds

The Steelers defense is (finally) getting healthy.
Stephon Tuitt recently was spotted working out—though I won’t expect him back until after the bye. However, TJ Watt, Devin Bush, and Cameron Sutton are all trending back towards clean bills of health. Couple that with James Pierre being a battle-tested defensive back, Joe Schobert playing good ball, and Cam Heyward playing out of his mind…

The Steelers offense rushes for another 100 yards

What a sight for sore eyes last week. Najee Harris had his breakout game on the ground. The offensive line continues its improvement trend. Everything just started to gel. Can they do it again though? The Denver Broncos aren’t a push-over defense. They’re the 3rd overall defense through five weeks. The Seahawks however, rank dead last overall AND against the run. No excuses this week…

Ben Roethlisberger throws 3 or more touchdowns

Ben Roethlisberger

Big Ben has had a lot of really rough moments this season. Last week was arguably his best performance. It certainly helps to have an offensive line performing well and running the ball. Remember how I said Roethlisberger led offenses to get cooking in October?

Minkah Fitzpatrick records his first interception of the season

Terrell Edmunds has his first interception of the year. Minkah Fitzpatrick has had a couple of opportunities. He’s had an up and down year. One week he makes an explosive tackle at the line of scrimmage to force a fourth down, the next he misses a tackle in the backfield the springs into a 49-yard run. There’s no doubt he is going to start reeling in those big plays. Is this week the week?

There needs to be a Troy Polamalu Renegade

If there was ever a week you really wanted to ramp up Renegade, this is the week. Troy Polamalu joins his fellow Hall of Fame classmates as they are honored at halftime with their Hall of Fame rings. What makes this so significant for Troy is the fact that this is his first trip to Heinz Field since January of 2015. When they retired Joe Greene’s number, he got his own Renegade tribute. I get that this isn’t the same type of night, but you can fill a Renegade montage with Troy plays by itself. Need to make this happen…
