Let the Mocks begin.......

I'm not gun shy because of Pickett, I'm just not really sold on any of this years guys being more than a Rudolf type guy. And I think THIS year, we can find that in FA. And you're right, FA is going to change a lot of the draft thinking.

We also are likely to not know who the Steelers ACTUALLY like, leading up to the '22 draft it was Tomlin wants Willis, and then we draft Pickett. I haven't seen a list of visits from the senior bowl, but I think we'll learn more from pro day and combine visits...

Again tho, this isn't what I think THEY WILL do, it's been what I would do and my thinking...

I’m saying the organization can’t be gun shy

As far as the baseball analogy RBs are a dime a dozen-an easy fix. We definitely need a WR2, no doubt about that.

Absolutely zero reason they can’t land a QB, WR and CB in picks 2-4. The great thing about swinging at QBs is sometimes you get that hit and many questions are then answered along with the very cap friendly salary a drafted QB brings as opposed to what meh retread guys are making off free agent contracts.

I have no doubt they sign a veteran QB in FA to pair with Skyler, also fairly confident they take a swing at a QB too…after that first round DL guy has been drafted.

If only we had competent coaching schemes it would be way easier for whoever walks through that door in FA and the draft. This applies to literally everyone walking on the field with that severe handicap they enter games with. Nothing like trying to dig out of a hole to start every game.

I’m definitely ready to see the moves they put together with all that cap space in the quest for the next 9-8. Should be an interesting offseason.

31. Kenneth Grant DT Michigan
52. Azareye'h Thomas CB Florida State
75. Jalen Royals WR Utah State
83. Gunnar Helm TE Texas
122. Ollie Gordon II RB Oklahoma State
177. Clay Webb OG Jacksonville State
215. Tonka Hemingway DT South Carolina
220. Ty Hamilton DT Ohio State
225. Craig Woodson S California
238. Ja'Corey Brooks WR Louisville
2026 SF 5th
2026 LV 6th

I would feel REALLY good if the draft fell this way. I miss out on Harris, Higgins, and Lacy; but I walk away with a very under rated Royals and land a lightning fast Brooks in the 7th. Upgrade the TE position, we can roll with Muth, Washington, and Helm. 3 TE sets become dangerous and less predictable. Shore up some depth on the DL and OL, Woodson fills the Kazee role, and get the steal of the draft in Ollie Gordon in the 4th. But getting Grant while being able to move down, I just feel he's more Haloti Ngata than Casey Hampton, so even tho he has the size for the NT in a 3-4, he's not a 2 down only guy and can stay on the field in passing situations.

Slow Sunday so I took some time to play again - with trades this time:

27 Jahdae Barron, CB | Texas A+ - Joey needs help and Donte Jackson won't be here forever...might be a better fit in the slot/nickel.

57 Jalen Milroe, QB | Alabama A+ - Not missing on a leader in the locker room.

74 Isaiah Bond, WR | Texas A+ - We need WRs. Game changing WRs. Bond is that type of dude...plus he played w/ Milroe for a year before he left for Texas.

83 Quinshon Judkins, RB | Ohio State A+ - I see a bigger version of Jaylen Warren w/ a sprinkle of Lev Bell in his game. That's not a bad thing...

122 Tai Felton, WR | Maryland B+ - Plays very similarly to George Pickens. Hopefully he's more mature???

128 Jared Wilson, IOL | Georgia A+ - Daniels is out of here and McCormick should be able to step right up at starter. We need to keep stocking the shelves...

163 Terrance Ferguson, TE | Oregon A - Travis Kelce 2.0. Nothing more to add.

225 Que Robinson, EDGE | Alabama A+ - this kid can play from both OLB positions! Still a bit raw but definitely worth the pick at this time.

231 Cam Jackson, DL | Florida A+ Cam on the DL is just right. Nice motor on the big feller...

247 John Williams, OT | Cincinnati A+ - not a reach - but a project to develop...

Looks good minus 57 Tiny Hands Milroe. Stop being such a Bama Homer...lol. And Milroe is a C-maybe on a good day with new gloves and no pass rush..;)

Wrong. Milroe will be just fine...
Can't agree with you on Milroe. He is horribly inaccurate at medium range and looked terrible the first couple days at the Senior Bowl. I wouldn't touch him with a 10' pole. We also HAVE to go D-Line early.

They said the same things about Jalen Hurts.
i saw both as an outsider. Hurts was the real deal in college, but Satan had a hard-on for Tua and ****** Hurts.
that said, Milroe is not the caliber that Hurts is or was. Milroe is more Joe Milton with not as strong of an arm.

Did have little tiny Pickett hands?

Pickett had 8 5/8" hand size, Hurts measured at 9 3/4" so nope...

Milroe will go into the combine with a slightly larger hand size than Pickett (8 3/4"), but Pickett did some hand stretches and exercises that helped increase the size SOME (1/8"). For the record tho, Joe Burrow has 9" hands.

The unrealistic slide draft. This would be a dream to walk away with all these players and picks:

50. Kenneth Grant DT Michigan
52. Tre Harris WR Ole Miss
82. Omarion Hampton RB North Carolina
83. Kevin Winston Jr. S Penn State
122. Cobee Bryant CB Kansas
137. Pat Bryant WR Illinois
163. Howard Cross III DT Notre Dame
225. Rylie Mills DT Notre Dame
238. Jason Marshall Jr. CB Florida
2026 SEA 2nd
2026 SEA 3rd

Edit* I should prob have noted that this mock was from profootballnetwork.com

So the rumors are that they will target a wr in the first... all the mocks I do seem to have legit DTs and RBs all the way down to the 4th...

Regardless of where they take them, I would like to see

2 DTs, 2 WRs, 1RB, 1CB, 1QB, and one later round BPA

I figure if they go 1st round Wr, then 2nd round DT, 3rd through 5th round CB-RB-DT BPA... then in the 7th take one or the boom or bust sleeper qbs, a sleeper WR, and the last seventh whatever is left you think has any chance of doing anything..
and honestly, i think id be fine with them addressing CB in FA rather than the draft...

I think DL in the first, WR or QB in the second and then whatever they didn’t address from that in the 3rd provided it is BPH.

This is how I would prefer it. Yes you can get some quality guys later in the draft on the DL, but if a guy like Harmon, Grant, or Nolan are there in the first, you have to take them. They are a step above. And with the WR group, I think the gap between the first round and second round guys isn't as great and you can get a quality WR2 with potential to be WR1 in both rounds. QB is different, and it all depends on where you rank Milroe and Dart. They will be the third and fourth QB's off the board, but are they second round picks, or third round picks? Personally I think they are both 3rd, but a lot of draft sites have them much higher, and in most of the mock draft sites, they both go in the second round at some point. The only way I'm taking Dart in the second, is if I traded down in the first and picked up another second round pick. I'd hate to miss out on a guy like Tre Harris to take a risk with Dart and have him end up being Rudolf while Harris turns into a 1,000 yard WR

I'd change the QB for an earlier WR and find a RB earlier than 7th but solid draft any way you see it

RBs can always be had late. always.
where did Warren get drafted?

Great speed, good route runner, A+ hands.
Ceiling AB, Floor Anrwaan Randle El

Jaxson DartQB Ole Miss
Imo best QB in this draft. Some questionable decisions but he can put the ball on a line and drop it anywhere on the field.

Alfred CollinsDT Texas
Massive DL that takes two blockers to deal with. Great run defense and I think he has untapped pass rush potential.

Jabbar MuhammadCB Oregon
Likely slot CB but guy can stay in the back pocket of about anyone. Gets his hands on the ball and breaks up a lot of passes.

Brashard SmithRB SMU
Wanted a RB earlier but Smith is a homerun threat who plays tough inside even with being under 200lbs. Good hands in the pass game as well. Pair him with Warren and perhaps Nick Chubb and we have a nice 3-headed monster.

Jalen TravisOT Iowa State
Most underrated OT in this draft. IMO he can play LT or RT and can probably start day one.

Ahmed HassaneinEDGE Boise State
Hot motor guy who is always making plays. Quicker than fast and not sure if I keep him outside, have him gain weight and go inside or just use him in certain packages. But too good of a football player to pass on here.

Dont'e ThorntonWR Tennessee
This guy has so much upside I take a chance on him. 6-5, 220lbs, 4.4 forty. If he puts into together he’s TO 2.0.

here's another....

21. Josh Simmons OT Ohio State
If he comes back from that knee, he can be either LT or RT. Which would push Jones or Fautanu inside. With McCormick and Frazier inside, that makes for a damn good OL going forward

52. Jaxson Dart QB Ole Miss
As Ford said, likely the best QB in this draft. But it is a weak QB class. Dart, however, isnt weak.

83. Jayden Higgins WR Iowa State
Nice sized WR who can be a 2 if GP stays or progress to a 1 with a season or 2

122. Jordan Phillips DT Maryland
Big stout DL to pair with Benton

163. Jaylin Smith CB USC
Not the best, but far from the worst, BPA

7th round flyers:
225. Trevor Etienne RB Georgia
238. Bru McCoyW R Tennessee
247. Arian Smith WR Georgia

Daniel Jaramiah predicted RB round one which is worst possible idea. You are paying for yards and TD. How many more then Harris? And how much less then a second or third be then Harris?
I think we all feel the same way about, possibly, going RB in the first again. However, if Jeanty were to fall, what do yunz think?
