I'm not gun shy because of Pickett, I'm just not really sold on any of this years guys being more than a Rudolf type guy. And I think THIS year, we can find that in FA. And you're right, FA is going to change a lot of the draft thinking.
We also are likely to not know who the Steelers ACTUALLY like, leading up to the '22 draft it was Tomlin wants Willis, and then we draft Pickett. I haven't seen a list of visits from the senior bowl, but I think we'll learn more from pro day and combine visits...
Again tho, this isn't what I think THEY WILL do, it's been what I would do and my thinking...
I’m saying the organization can’t be gun shy
As far as the baseball analogy RBs are a dime a dozen-an easy fix. We definitely need a WR2, no doubt about that.
Absolutely zero reason they can’t land a QB, WR and CB in picks 2-4. The great thing about swinging at QBs is sometimes you get that hit and many questions are then answered along with the very cap friendly salary a drafted QB brings as opposed to what meh retread guys are making off free agent contracts.
I have no doubt they sign a veteran QB in FA to pair with Skyler, also fairly confident they take a swing at a QB too…after that first round DL guy has been drafted.
If only we had competent coaching schemes it would be way easier for whoever walks through that door in FA and the draft. This applies to literally everyone walking on the field with that severe handicap they enter games with. Nothing like trying to dig out of a hole to start every game.
I’m definitely ready to see the moves they put together with all that cap space in the quest for the next 9-8. Should be an interesting offseason.
