Not too early: what to do at QB?

Nobody wants to see you hold yer pee pee in your hand again...put that chyt away, Papi!!!
I have been pissing in the wind lately with my posts....🥴

I guess Kirk Cousins could still be an option. I can’t imagine they pay him a 10m roster bonus

I wonder if the Eagles would trade us Picket back for a late pick?😃

If they go with Rodgers, I will be more than pissed. That move would set the team back for 5 to 10 years. And, Darnold probably won't do much better but he is younger. I just hope they don't throw 40 to 50 million per at either of these guys. Fields just wants to know he will be the starter this year. How hard is that? Give him that assurance and if they draft a QB early, that QB should sit for at least a year.
5 to 10 years? That seems extreme, please explain because I am genuinely curious.

Ben thinking about a comeback, so he has his sons both run a deep post. He can't overthrow them and decides he is really done.

That has to be the funniest thing I have heard in a while.

I can't speak for TDX, but at how long our last QB costed us. It was nearly 5 years and that was with Rooney acting erratic, for him. Usually it would take Rooney longer to make a decision on Kenny, his all-world QB who was the next Marino. Pickett was drafted in '22 and here it is '25, and we're still looking for our next QB. It's gonna be at least '27 before we find our next 1, if we are lucky. Our last "QB of the future" is backing up the Browns QB.

Sorry but I don’t agree with ever handing someone the job, they need to earn it.

Just look how well it has gone since AR2 was just handed the job by Dan.

Ben cost us for as long as he did because of the constant restructuring they did to remain cap compliant. But it never stopped us from being able to sing the guys we wanted to sign. So we'll try to find someone this year, skip next year, and try again in '27?

Good God, Fordie - get on your soapbox and pimp MASON RUDOLPH!!!

I want entertainment!!!
Hey, I would have been on board with Mason. He has heart, pocket presence, and is a gun slinger. If we would have signed Mayfield when he was available, same thing..except the short, have to roll out to see the field version.

He's not as short as Wilson, I'd take Mayfield over a lot of guys right now. I would have taken him right after Cleveland dumped him honestly. Always thought he got shafted.

I guess I don't see it that way. Rodgers would be a one-year option since they aren't drafting a guy this year or trading for a franchise QB. It appears they're setting up to make a move in the draft next year, so this year will be a wash with or without Rodgers. By no means a way of setting the team back upwards of a decade just because of him.

I'm guessing it will be a two year deal with Rodgers with most of the guaranteed money hitting the first year. I suspect the Rogers deal was already in place, regardless of what the media has been saying about the Giants and Vikings before DK signed his extension. We should find out soon I suspect. I bet they trade back into the second round to pick someone like Dart or Ewers unless they go QB in round 1 to sit behind Rodgers for a year or two.

I just looked at this thread's title again and it's amusing the Steelers still haven't signed a QB. Based on the optics of the offseason so far, it looks like they were caught with their pants down just as they were last year with WR2. It'll be interesting to see how this plays out, especially if Wilson signs with Cleveland.

That was on the Pat McAfee show, They were interviewing Ben and he said he definitely thought about it. He also said light-heartedly that he put both boys in a #14 Jersey and the older one out-ran his throw,

In a serious note, Ben was asked what part of his body was holding him back and he replied the lower part.

Yes funny, but also humbling for him to admit he was happy where he was.

We all eventually have to accept that we aren’t what we once were. It is not fun, but required

If we go the 1st round QB route and not Russ or Aaron I would definitely take him back. Spot starter to gap Dart until he’s ready to take the helm. A good teammate that would take a rookie under his wing and help. Hell, even if we sign Rodgers or Wilson and go McCord or Rourke later in the draft it might be worth having Rudolph be the backup and help develop guys like that at the QB3 spot for a season or two.

Better?
