Options at QB1 (including rumors of offer to Darnold)

Hell, I may take Dart and Shough or Howard or the Canadian guy late. Take 2.

While I don’t disagree with a QB double dip as we stand today it’s crazy that this is where free agency has gotten our mentality.

Would be great to give said development assets the tools to actually develop

We have invested in the offensive line and despite what many think they progressed last year and managed to finish in the middle of the pack. We now have two potentially top receivers. We have two decent running backs two good tight ends. We need a possession receiver and Wilson could be that. We will draft one as well. We have Mason to start for now while a rookie or rookies learn. We are not in a bad position for a young QB.

Clown-lin has shown zero ability to develop anyone at QB. It's not even close.

The more time goes by and the more research I do, I would be good if the Steelers took Dart in the 1st round. It's not ideal with the other team needs but they have screwed up free agency so bad, they need to draft a QB this year. He can compete with Rudolph and any other veteran they bring in. Tell Rodgers to pound sand. He's not wanted in black and gold.

as a back up option
wilson is a better option flacco, come out of the cave a rod n just tell its been 3 weeks

Given where they are right now, I honestly wouldn't mind Jameis Winston.

He's actually a really talented passed, but is good for a few "wtf" plays every game, which has been what has held him back in the league.

I've always wondered what he could do in a play-action based offense that ran the ball well enough and played good enough defense to limit his pass attempts and not force him to throw the ball 30+ times a game.

I'm not sure he's ever been in that situation since he's been in the league.

This is all true, until you sign AR as that changes things a lot. It takes you down to 5-7 rnd. QB pick.

Pending on who is there, if there guy is there…… you take him or move up to get him. With Roger’s on board, you do nothing of the sort.

Seed the clouds, bring in BIG Refrigeration units and make it snow every game, He’s a snow machine killer……..

Even with AR I could see us using a 3rd if we like someone enough. AR would 1 maybe two years tops. Shough or Howard in the third even if we get the old geezer. I would rather draft two and ride with Mason at this point.

Tools are there, but are the teachers?

Winston and his turnovers just may give Mike the heart attack we’ve all been waiting for

I hope not an “official” heart attach, but open his eyes up to having to take risks.

By getting slay and DK it seems they want to be all in you can if russ is back, and you sign a good swing OT and Chubb. Draft
21 DL
88 trade up+ next years picks to about 40 Dart
rnd 5 CB Burke
rnd 6 LB King
7 DT Stackhouse

I was reading an article about the Steelers trading back in round one to draft a QB the experts consider not good enough to draft where the team is currently picking. Considering the team rarely keeps what they want to do secret, they should probably stay put and draft the QB they want and not risk dropping bacK and let some other team jump them to get the guy they want. If they move back, they need to get assets to make the risk worth it and have enough guys on their board they are fine with the risk.

You know I have slightly more optimism on that than some. I think/hope/pray Tomlin has learned something about risk reward.

I appreciate your optimism.

I think you’re selling yourself short though.

You are far more optimistic than most, and glad you’re part of the forum cuz we all need the ray of sunshine on this here Groundhog’s Day. It can certainly get depressing without the optimists.

I used to be a Steeler optimist, would love to get that feeling that they’ve beaten out of me back someday.

Looks like Dart is getting more hype every day. He might not be around for the Steelers to even consider in round one at this point. Kiper has him going in the top 10 and I've seen one mock where he goes number 3.

I see a few mocks with Sanders falling to the Steelers. I'm not sure I see anything great about Sanders, but I'll hope it works out if he ends up with the black and gold. Kiper has the Steelers going DT in round one.

Dart's pro-day is March 28th. That will tell some of the story about Dart and who the Steelers have watching him or is their visit just for Nolen.
