Cam Heyward wants a new deal

I didn't say Cowher won a Super Bowl without Ben, but he made 4 AFCCG's and a Super Bowl without Ben, Tomlin can't even be competitive, and everyone's excuse is well he doesn't have a QB, that doesn't excuse him for not being competitive.
2017 they had one of the best offenses in football, the defense allowed Blake Bortles to score 35 on them, yes I subtracted 10 points from that because of the offense. Missing Shazier Who they really never replaced until now hopefully. Plus for whatever reason that franchise always plays us tough.

Over the last 7 games in 2020 the defense allowed 26.5 points per game, so they were exhausted half way through the season? The offense that year was 12th in points scored, KC in 2023 was 15th in points and won the Super Bowl. We were missing Edmunds, Dupree, Spillane, Gilbert and Bush for all or most of that time frame. They may not all be great players, but they were our starters.

2021 the highest paid defense was bad all year, 24th in yards allowed, 21st in points, the offense was actually better. Bush Never recovered from the injury the prior year, Tuitt missed most of the year and Alualu was on IR the whole year after the first part of the first game. Without a decent MLB and missing two starters on the DL it was down year for sure for the defense.
SO yes, the defense had issues, but it wasn't mainly scheme it was lack of bodies. We can also look at who was missing in the other losses or playing on half health. It hasn't been pretty. KC may have been 15th but they still had Mahomes who pulled their *** out of the fire repeatedly, proving my point it takes a HOF QB most years to win the Super Bowl and absolutely takes one to consistently be there and win it. You can't name one team who had a dynasty without a HoF QB. There are a few teams that have caught lightning in a bottle and won with a Flacco or Williams or Dilfer, once.

This is the year I have been told. A A Ron is "lightning ina bottle". I hope so. Even with A A Ron .....we need Tomlin to move on from his schemes of the past on both sides of the ball. We have had talented players....if the HC doesn't put them in position to succeed......failure happens often. We have seen it of late unfortunately.

All I can say is there is a chance.1755914145894.png

Seems to be the key to the season: Can Rodgers smarten Tomlin up?

Did Cam get the new Deal ?

Smaller note: Did the BOZ get a new deal ?

Maybe they both didn't really want to do TC stuff, and because they are old, they used the money thing as a tactic?

I think that is all wildly overblown. I love Cam and what he does for the team. Best run defense splits in the league last year when he was on the field and worst when he was off it. I don't blame the defense for the payoff issues as much as others when the offense totally lays an egg and tries to rely on the defense to be superhuman after it carried their ***** into the playoffs giving everything they had to just get there. They have had to face some pretty damn good QBs based on their low seeds or the offense has turned the ball over 4 times early.
You can have whatever opinion you want. The facts are real.

2012 Broncos 447 yd 3 TD
2015 Ravens 356 yd 3 TD
2016 Broncos 324 1 TD
2017 Patriots 431 4TD
2018 Jaguars 378 4TD
2021 Browns 390 5TD
2022 Cheifs 478 5TD
2024 Bills 425 5TD
2025 Ravens 474 4TD

Last 2 playoff loses Heyward's defense got ran over for 299 and 179 yards

100% falls on the defense and coaches.

None of that changes a damn thing I said. The defense got them to the games and had nothing left in most cases. If the offense doesn't **** the bed the defense may have been in better shape.

The fact remains in the regular season last year when Cam was on the field, they were best run defense in the league and about the worst when he wasn't. You can talk playoffs all you want but Cam has proven his value.

Last year the defensive gameplan was awful. You had guys going after Henry whether he was getting the ball or not and leaving wide open areas elsewhere. Our last 3 losses were to 3 of the best QBs in the league and we played them scared. I can not blame the players for terrible schemes.

It’s past schemes at this point, which he does lack…
It’s an entire mentality Mike brings
*** cheeks puckered so tight in fear

He claims to not live in his fears, but that’s literally all he does. There is absolutely zero guts and zero glory to his game:

His offense is scared AF, conservative AF and predictable AF fearing half of the field for fear of turnovers. This dude is so fearful of turnovers his butt cheeks pucker when he walks by a bakery. His home is a house of fear.

The defense is the same thing. Sit back play scared AF, fearful of the big play (put Minkah 20 yards from the action as deep CF), fearful of any potential playmaker on the other team (stop Henry at all costs-don’t actually play football)…he’ll take death by a thousand paper cuts as he doesn’t have the balls to step up and contest an opponent and try to impose his will: nope just sit back scared AF and hope that if ya can string 10-15 paper cut plays together maybe a TO will fall into the D’s lap.

His entire mentality is based off fear, playing scared and this has become the culture of the entire squad. Scared money don’t make money and that’s why he’s broke as an effin joke.

It’s honestly pretty hard to watch Mike’s crumbling house of fear on a year in year out basis as it becomes more and more scared and dilapidated.

At this point, nothing left to do but call him
out on it at every turn and wait for the day we are freed from the downpressor man.

Feel free to serve me up a plate of crow, any year now Mike…I’ll wait. Was here before your sorry *** and will be after.

As much as I defend Mike I can’t defend that game plan. I think I see what they were trying to do and in the absence of Lamar it may have worked. It seems he tried to hard to break tendencies and it backfired spectacularly.

Steelers didn't blink.

Exactly and just maybe Kahn & Weidl had something to do with this.

If Watt's assignment was to take Henry 100% on the RPO...schematicly someone had to be assigned Jackson. One would think anyway. Didn't look that way though. Raven's and other elite teams have figured Tomlin's D out for years now. Tomlin needs to adapt to their changes. He hasn't. He simply does the exact same thing and says the D executed poorly. He believes the scheme is sound....elite actually....possibly on a historical elite level.

Our 2nd regular season game against the Ravens last season Watt was assigned Jackson on the RPOs.....Henry killed us. Playoff game Tomlin switches Watt's assignment to Henry. Different game plan. No ingame adjustments until game was out of reach.

How do you explain his highest paid defense getting embarrassed year after year? A HOF coach shouldn't have to have a HOF QB to be competitive in the postseason. Mike McDaniel took a team QB'd by Skylar Thompson into Buffalo vs Josh Allen and lost by 3 points. I'm sure I don't need to bring up all the teams Cowher won with while having avg QB's.

I love how everyone just leaves out that he had a future HOF QB that was only 36 years old last season, coming off a 98 QB rating season where he beat Mahomes, Allen, Herbert twice, I guess that doesn't count as having a good QB?
Yep. Tomlin's philosophy is pay for an elite D and play conservative on O. While every other teams basically does the opposite or a bit in-between. Hasn't worked out for Tomlin.

Yeah. It was an ugly game to be sure. Like I said, I can’t defend the scheme in that game. Not sure that it would have mattered as the Ravens were built to beat us. We have now rebuilt to hopefully beat them. If our corners are as good as we hope, we can commit more people against the run and have less to worry about in the secondary.
