Governor Pritzker and Mayor Johnson lose the Bears to Indiana

Don’t fear, that tax savings and potential income for the city of Hammond will soon be offset to higher tax’s to pay for the stadium.!!

The people of Hammond are domed to slavery to the GREED MACHINE should this take place.

Nobody is going to drive to Hammond to eat supper / fill their gas tanks / buy school clothes / hire the car detailer / ect. Ect. .

Salute the nation

It's not just the Bears leaving. This is happening in every blue state, leaving the middle class to foot the tax bill.

Boeing
Caterpillar
Citadel
Tyson Foods
Morton Salt
TTX
Guggenheim Partners

Pritzker has made Illinois toxic for businesses.

Have to disagree DIC…
This is like manna from heaven for Hammond and the Hoosier state in general..

It is not set in stone yet right?

Not sure why.

As mentioned above, the Bills play in Orchard Park, the Giants and Jests play in New Jersey and the new KC stadium will be moved over the state line. The stains are moving south of Cleveland and the lions played a few decades in Auburn Hills.

Im sure there are many more examples.

But it's the Chicago Bears. Just as iconic as you can get. Them and the Grean Bay Packers. It would be just wrong for either team to move

They are not moving.
The stadium is moving 30 minutes over that way. Jets did it, Giants did it, Lions did it.....

They're moving the location of the stadium, not moving the franchise. Some of you are making this seem like the Colts or Raiders relocating entirely.

BTW, the Bears are the 2nd NFL team in Chicago. The Chicago Cardinals were formed in 1920, the Bears were founded as the Decatur Staleys in the same year in Decatur, Illinois.

You are the only one old enough to remember them playing.

It would be weird. Like if the Steelers moved to MD.

When i was young, we would get plastic "batting helmets " to wear when we played wiffle ball.

I got the california angels helmet because it was so obscure it was cool.. The whole american league back then was so foreign to us.. They had to be not
as good as the National League.. Even their baseball cards were wierd , and their uniforms.
Remember the white sox uni's with the huge navy blue collars?

I bought a Sox helmet as a tyke at a Reds game. It was totally badass. I also remember me and my brothers surreptitiously removing that protective plastic inner liner leaving those hard plastic spikes to jam into one's skull, which always brought pain to the wearer and laughter and hilarity to the rest of us.

Good times.

Yeah but they’re moving the stadium out of the state. Rivalries are already intense between different cities, never mind different states. It’s what makes sports interesting Like a few have mentioned, can you imagine if the Steelers crossed the State line and played in Ohio? Obviously others have done it……..but it doesn’t make it right.

Money, money, money. I know it’s all about $$$$$$ with the price of real estate in a major downtown city. Let’s move to cheaper land…..tax implications. But a different state? What a tremendous loss of identity.
If you guys watch any of the upcoming World Cup…….take a notice of my city of Vancouver. BC place, the stadium is right downtown. The Skytrain, the busses, the ferries all have it as a stopping point. Never mind the fact that thousands can walk there. It’s right across the street from my son’s place. You really don’t need a car to get there, many different options.

I loved that about Pittsburgh as well. Walking across the Roberto Clemente bridge with the thousands of other fans was a highlight of the trip. And then look at a place like San Francisco. They ruined it by moving that far outside. Compare that to where the San Francisco giants play baseball.

All these owners want the development right around the stadium...which is bizarre how the Penguins completely failed in this regard. But if I'm an out-of-towner coming to a game, I want the stadiums downtown to experience the city. When you start to get these stadiums 30-60 minutes outside of the city, it's not the same.

Vancouver is a great example, walkability and public transit is huge, it's all about access.

i want a stadium i can get off an exit and go to a parking lot.. I have enough development everywhere else. If im going to madison sq garden to see a nicks game , id like it to be easy and seemless. I dont want to tour grand central station or time square and all the other bs. If im going to heinz field , i want to be able to tail gate and relax and im not going to tequila cowboys.

Because the city is kind of unique. Right up against mountains and then the Pacific. While I ***** about some decisions, they have done many things right. The pathways all along the foreshore with the stadium’s close to the water was the right move. I absolutely cringe when I go to a city and see a major road/highway right along a waterfront. What a missed opportunity.
So many people can walk or bike along the foreshore to get to downtown. Or cross the inlet on our false creek ferries. The Skytrain has made all the difference. And it just keeps on getting more and more tracks. But oh the cost of building it.

I like to drink multiple beers at a game. So i don’t drive. When the rapid train system plops me right beside the stadium that’s fine with me.

Hopefully some day the Browns to move to Flushing, NY.
Research says that the population in that area could support 3 pro NFL teams.

Wheeling Steelers? Morgantown Steelers? *gulp*...Youngstown Steelers??
Nah, theyd move to the subburbs...

Pittsburgh is one of the only large cities that didnt annex all its suburban areas... its why there are more municipalities per square mile in Allegheny county than anywhere else in the world. Finding land to build a new Stadium on as well as parking needed while staying close enough to utilize the city hotels... and they could first buy up all the developmental land in the area and make a mint... so say, the site of the old Century 3 Mall... put a stadium there... buy up the West mifflin businesses that shuttered when the mall closed ...
