Jacoby Jones claimed; Archer released

Although he was drafted too high, I never disliked Archer and wish he was able to carve out a niche on the team. It didn't work out and I wish him the best as he pursues his career.

We know he had that. Does he still?

I was hoping we'd see something from Archer. There was some potential there. Coaches drafted him, then didn't use him much.

So much for them not being able to admit they made a mistake? Can we put that stupid *** theory to bed, now?

I saw Tomlin use a timeout to preserve time at the end of the half to have time to score ... It was an anomaly he's still a clock dunce.

Well, you still have that, then.

So we took a guy who is averaging 25 yards a kick return and released him for a guy who is averaging 21...

Released murphy to make room for Doran Grant. Murphy is a receiver. Need a receiver, Dri doesn't fit the bill. Sign Jones to fill Murphy spot and Return Kicks. Good move. Makes Sense.

Does Tomlin now get credit for admitting his mistake?

Tomlin will only get credit, when credit is,,...ummmmm let me seee......mmmighhht of....... hmmmm

Archers problem was that the football was too heavy for him, he was a 4.2 guy w/o the ball, but 4.9 guy when carrying the pigskin.

Archer thought he was carrying "the rock"

well sham not so wow Thomas is available for a what the hell is he doing still on the roster discussion

:towel2:

You see there are two Thomas' on the team, gets two confussing for some to carry on, for a hundred eighty pages or so.....

Jones might not be much better, but at least he won't fall over just because the wind gusts or a mouse farts.

Or a blade of gras happens to elude the lawn mower...................

A sub 4.3 guy is available? Al Davis is currently clawing himself out of his casket to sign him...

****, look real close as you can see Archer is a reincarnated Davis...........

At first I was hoping Dri would be fash fast and make the plays. Then he showed NOTHING and the flash had fizzed. Good luck in what ever you do, smile while doing it.

So, thinking about this, I wonder why we just don't have Murphy return kicks.

Can Dri go to the practice squad. I can't quite figure out the rules but it looks to be "no more than 2 seasons of accrued service".

Hypothetically anyways, I bet someone claims him for s&g.

Think you have to be active for less than a certain amount of games. I don't think he is eligible

San Diego is having one of its worse years in a while. ****** coaching ****** talent?

Either way it is possible that Jacoby was fighting a uphill battle with who was blocking for him.

Or maybe he just lost a step.

But with his recent production before he was signed to a two year contract, It was definitely worth the signing, and closer look.

We played Baltimore last week? ;P

He just woke up from a drinking induced coma after that ****** team managed a W.

(kidding)

Jones will be an improvement. Archer avoided contact and would usually just fall and not fight for extra yards. He was like watching a little kid on the field with grown men. His below average play was a result of being too small and overly reliant on speed, but that speed NOT being there for games. We've all said this a thousand, or 180 pages worth, times. Bad pick. Run for Canada or the Arena League. He would probably do well in the Arena League. Running start and all.

Welcome to Pittsburgh Jacoby.....don't **** it up!

I want to see Jacoby play.......before I assume anything......... the "archer" incident at least taught me that........

Dri was a comp pick. You can't trade comp picks. We moved up for Landry Jones. The Browns used that pick in a package to move up for Jonny football. Can't say that bothers me at all.

Cope, I think we traded up with Cleveland for Shamarko that year.

I find that very interesting - someone will complain about the facts though...
I still dont think Dri got a real chance, at least offensively. If you never use the guy you dont know what you have. Then they use him in special teams which is a new role for him so once again hard to say what you have. I thought he was real close to breaking a couple this year, but it is what it is. Some team will pick him up and use him in a sproles type role and I would not be surprised if he does well.

As others said he was a late 3rd round pick and worth a shot. He is far from the only 3rd rounder not to pan out...

Here's where I stopped reading the thread - because I absolutely agree w/ this statement.

All the best Dri - you were a Steeler and I rooted for you from the start!!! Coach Haley just didn't know how to get you on the field - someone will though...

Never saw this one coming. Why did the Chargers get rid of Jones anyway? Hope he pans out and doesn't pull a Scobee. So long to Archer. And if this front office drafts another little dweeb like Rainey or Archer again, I'm gonna flip.
Like Carl Edwards???
yes you were...big time
I was wrong too...I can't be right all the time:applouse:

How quickly some forget that he was a comp pick that didn't pan out - how the pick was a "colossal" mistake puzzles me.
Might have to revisit the old thread and get a glimpse of all the dumb ***** in their glory. Third rounder didn't even complete his rookie contact...
Who says he won't be signed again (inside of his rookie contract)??? We shall see...
But he did make two big mistakes in the game at Baltimore last Sunday (that got him cut).
Somehow I remember Cincy coming to Heinz field last week...
The one who like your post is the biggest dumb *** in the thread. FYI
I like his post too.

The comments about the mistakes during the Baltimore game are referring to Jacoby Jones not Dri Archer
