TMC was here since the beginning. . And nobody is WANTING Bleeder or Steelerfan's take on players, evaluations,, or opinion. If you or I leave nobody would give a ****.. Theres a reason its being talked about.

Yeah, but this isn't the first time he's "left the board" due to what people were saying about him. He's a sensitive guy.

Ford where did you find this info been trying to find it??

I just pushed forward on my directv until I hit Saturday. I am in central time and at first it looked like the game would be on live but now it looks like it starts 11:00 pm Central or 12:00 am Eastern.

See this is the problem RIGHT here. You take TMC's evaluation and opinion with way too much weight on it. TMC is a very knowledgeable football fan and I do enjoy listening to his opinion, even if it differs from my own. In fact I really try not to point out when I do have a differing opinion because inevitably it ends up in a debate. This time I jumped in head first and that's because on the draft thread I said when our third round pick came up that my head thinks Bryant but who I want is Archer and we ended up wanting both and getting both. He blasted the Archer pick which I then felt obligated to share my opinion. Of course his opinion is far better than mine for some unknown reason and he tried to drive his opinion down mine and others throats. We liked the pick and we are knowledgeable football fans so if he can't handle it, too bad. Maybe two years from now he will be right and stating that a third round pick will be a bust is not going out on much of a limb but me and others are rooting for the kid and can't wait to see what wrinkle he brings to the offense and return game.

Of course I can't remember every post in this thread. But I don't recall any poster saying that. I remember most of the members talking about his lack of size, small catch radius etc... I know I never said it. My issues has always been that he was a reach for a 3rd round pick in this deep of draft when the Steelers have almost no depth anywhere.

I didn't like the Jones pick but maybe Porter can do something with him. He got a ton of playing time as a rookie so that will help him.

Ahem........

This pick makes no sense to me. TMC is spot on. Where is he going to play? Yes, speed is dangerous but it's only dangerous when it can be used correctly. If straight ahead speed were so great then the Raiders would have 10 SBs by now. The fact is that Archer is small... but not just small, tiny by NFL standards. He's frail, rail thin and won't last in the NFL.

.

Oh ok they usually post the full replay schedule on NFL.com. Im in NJ so the Giants game I will see. Was looking for the replay date and times for the Bill and Panthers games on NFL Network. Eagles game is on ESPN I believe.

Ahem........

Lmao at Badcat please dont start him up again. Of course you're now part of the CJC committee. Welcome I'm apparently the president.

I stepped on his toes once with some comment about his ginourmous swollen ego or something and he left for a week....but he came back fine and dandy. .

Speaking of quitters -I'm still waiting for Dave to tell us why he left.

LATROBE – In the competitive, testosterone-driven world of the NFL, it’s unusual for players to admit that they aren’t the biggest, strongest or fastest.

But that’s not the case for the Steelers this year, when the question is posed about who is the fastest player on the team.

Rookie running back Dri Archer is the answer to that question no matter who you ask.

“Oh man. Oh my gosh. You have no idea. He’s legitimately the fastest person I’ve ever seen,” said fellow running back Le’Veon Bell. “I’ve seen a lot of fast people run. He flies.

“I feel like I’m a fast guy. When I see him run, it’s like, ‘Wow!’”

Archer stands just 5-8 and weighs 173 pounds. But he recorded the second-fastest 40-yard dash time in NFL combine history earlier this year, when he crossed in 4.26 seconds. Some teams, including the Steelers, had him going even faster than that.

Only running back Chris Johnson and wide receivers Rondel Melendez and Marquise Goodwin, who were each officially timed at 4.24 seconds, have recorded faster times since the combine began posting them in 1999.

Some questioned why the Steelers would use a third-round pick on a change-of-pace running back when Archer was selected earlier this year. But the team has been quickly increasing his role at their training camp at Saint Vincent College.

Archer has done a little bit of everything, lining up at running back, wide receiver and as a return man. He’s even been the primary running back when the Steelers have worked on their no-huddle and two-minute packages.

“(I have) a pretty big package (of plays),” Archer said. “I think I can come and contribute in a big way. We have a great backfield. I think we all can contribute.”

Having so many duties is nothing new for Archer, who was used in a similar fashion at Kent State. Each morning, he woke up not knowing whether he would go to meetings with the running backs or the receivers.

“Sometimes I go here, sometimes I go there,” Archer said. “Usually, they’ll tell me that day, in the morning or at walkthrough. It’s all the same thing.”

What hasn’t been ordinary is how Archer has performed.

He’s been lightning fast during the one-on-one receiving drills that have him coming out of the backfield matched up against a linebacker, usually starter Lawrence Timmons.

Archer has owned the drill, often times catching the ball, giving one stutter step or making one move, then burning down the field untouched.

“I keep telling him to always make sure he finishes down the field because guys are going to try to catch him,” Bell said. “I told him not to let them catch him. Run fast every time.”

So far, the only thing that has slowed him down was some hamstring soreness that kept him out of one practice last week.

Forget about adjusting to the speed of the NFL. Everyone else has been forced to adjust to his speed.

Though he’s been bottled up at times in live running drills, he’s also broken off some long runs.

The offseason additions of Archer’s speed and the power of 250-pound free agent acquisition LeGarrette Blount give the Steelers an interesting mix of styles to pair with Bell this season.

“You can tell Le’Veon’s got a year under his belt,” said offensive coordinator Todd Haley. “You can see him coaching LeGarrette, coaching the young guys, so he’s in a different place already, which is exciting to see. LeGarrette is a football dude, which I know is going to help us. And Dri Archer makes a play or two every day that gets you excited.”

I've been told that the ignore feature is useless (not by TMC) because if someone quotes your ignored person, you can still see what they posted. OMG THE HORROR!!

Apparently, there is no ability to just not read (or even reply to) something someone posted. Weird, because I do it all the time.

Is that why I still see that ****** Supe's posts? FML

As the above article states after the initial shock of the pick what got me excited was the matchup problems he may create for himself and the rest of the offense. One thing we can all agree on about Timmons is that he is not slow. One of the fastest LB in the NFL. IF Archer is beating him consistently out the backfield how will other teams choose to matchup?? Nickle defenses leave them vulnerable to Bell and Blount running against a smaller front 7. Base defense who covers Archer. Guess we will see soon enough.

You blitz to force Archer to stay in and block.

That's really the nuts and bolts of it. Do people really think defenses are going to roll over and just decide to give Archer a 5-yard cushion and try to cover him one-on-one with a LB? Really?

What beats these guys is not man-to-man coverage. It's zone blitzes.

Let's see how Archer deals with pass blocking. And if we refuse to let him pass block, let's see how he deals with getting blown up on a short crossing pattern with a 4-man under zone (i.e. Harrison's hit on Massoquoi or the hit on Desean Jackson are examples).

Once I've seen him protect himself (both stay healthy and not fumble) and not be reckless in those situations then I can start being a bit more confident he'll stick around and last.

With a limited defensive playbook and limited contact, Archer is going to look incredible. But it's not just about what you do well in the NFL, but also how badly your weakness can/can not be exploited.

Ahem........

You're a liar. I said "I know I never said it" in reference to ant saying:

And you cant be serious cant stand for someone to disagree. Hardly what this was about. A ******** chose to speak in absolutes and got called out repeatedly. He cant, he will never, he didnt do it in college so he cant do it in the pros.

So I was saying I never said that he can't, will never. I didn't speak in absolutes about him making it. So either you are ******* liar or you can't read. Which is it?

I understand that..but i dont think the steelers have any plans to have him stay in and block. If he starts out in the backfield look for him to motion out of the backfield. You can still run the ball with Bell and Blount. He doesnt have to get the ball to effect a defense. Heath will find holes all day vs zone defenses.

Can you read obviously i wasnt referring to you..

So this isn't you talking to me?

Exactly blah blah blah more bullshit. You arent stupid. You remember alot.

And you cant be serious cant stand for someone to disagree. Hardly what this was about. A ******** chose to speak in absolutes and got called out repeatedly. He cant, he will never, he didnt do it in college so he cant do it in the pros. He will be crushed blah blah blah.. Yet now all of a sudden you dont remember any of this. Just us calling him a hall of famer.

So this isn't you talking to me?

Yes I'm talking to you about someone else.. who i know you knew was talking in absolutes. I dont believe you dont know whom I'm referring too. But if you dont my bad.

I don't know but that isn't the point. The point is that badpussy is using a quote of mine out to say something I didn't say. I was specifically saying that I never used absolutes. Anybody with a 1st grade education can read our conversation and realize that I was talking about "absolutes". That was the entire point. Of course I talked about his size, heights etc.. that's football. That's what the thread was about.

Whatever you say my man. If you say you dont know who I'm referring to so be it. Like I said your not dumb you been on this board forever and remember **** from the Kordell days..You been in this thread alot but if you dont know ok whatever you say. My bad then.

Still not the issue with badpussy. Hell you even knew that wasn't what I was talking about. You read my responses and knew I was talking about me never using absolutes not that I never criticized him because of his size.

So have you been encouraged by the news coming out of training camp or are you still in the stupid pick camp?

Then again saying he wont last in the NFL is as close to talking in absolutes as you can get Vader.

Count me as an encouraged. I know it has to translate to game grass, but obviously, if practice is good the chance of game good increases.

Salute the nation

That hit is now a multi thousand dollar fine, and possible suspension, remember? New game, not saying I like it, but it's a new game now. Those days are gone.

And if you blitz, I'm dumping it off to him in the flat, and your linebackers are all on the chase side of the play now.

You are aware this type of thing has been done before, with slower backs, and worked, so it really shouldn't be a surprise we're trying it with a faster one to see if he can get more than 3 yards and a cloud of dust.

Joe
