Steelers select Dri Archer in Round 3

Half the threads are by people trying to convince you they are smarter than the Steeler's at drafting.

And the other half is people bitching about someone else's opinion because they can't handle the Steelers being criticized.

Me, I'm the tweener, I could ***** about everything, but chose not to. Instead, I respect others and their opinions, and leave it at that. I always ask,
Can the STEELERS do a better job than I could right now? Hell yes, then I tuck the ball & truck somebody, like Archer would. :)

Actually I would think the other half are discussing how ******* stupid it is to criticize a team based on a draft pick who has YET to take a PRE SEASON snap. THAT is the problem, I would be fine with a "well, I wouldn't have made that pick, but let's see how it turns out" or even a "I can't imagine a scenario where this pick will be better than pick z, but lets see what happens" but the fact that so many had their minds made up before the dude ever took one snap, THAT's the part that frosts my ***. There are surprises and sleepers every year, and there are "can't miss" guys who stink up the ******* joint, maybe I'm just getting older, but to pretend both are completely real possibilities for EVERY pick is just shortsighted and stupid. There is NO WAY to evaluate a draft until at LEAST 2 to 3 years after it happens. Look at how many here thought Cam Heyward (myself included) was going to be a ******* waste, then last year the light comes on. Time will tell.

Exactly! The whiners feel that they know better than the FO at all times! Its a little funny, but mostly sad.

Exactly! The whiners feel that they know better than the FO at all times! Its a little funny, but mostly sad.

It just means they have a different opinion. When a front office guy like Donahough gets replaced it was because somebody had a different opinion than he did and thought they knew more than the front office. In the case mentioned it was one of the Rooneys and a guy named Cowher. I have no problem with any one having an opinion it is something they are entitled to. If it does not match mine that is fine as well. The message board would sure be dull with no one here but the ra ra circle jerk crowd or the ***** and moan about everything crowd, the fact that we have both is what makes this place interesting.

Yea Wingman me too! I just dont like all the fuss over draft picks and strategies.

Part of what fans do is to think they can do better than the people in charge of their team. We all do it.

What I get a kick out of is a couple of guys that did it as good as anybody here up and took their ball and went home. So, in other words, it is fine to rip the real GM, but the fake GMs should be above reproach.

Now thats some irony for your ***. This thread went this thread went kaboom because of the people vehemently saying he will never, he cant, he will be broken as soon, not because some said he has a chance, I see some positives.

Play my way, or I'm going home!!! Good analysis diver, never thought of it that way before. This message board has been great over the years, some stay, others go. Bottom line though is its the different opinions, that keep this board going & posters staying.

PS McCullers swallowed Archer up on 11 on 11 drills yesterday.

Most in this thread said exactly that. TMC never said that he had 0% chance of making it. That's just a strawman that is thrown around because some people can't stand the fact that others don't agree with every single draft pick. I don't remember anybody saying he couldn't make it. I remember people giving their opinion of why they didn't like the draft pick. There is nothing wrong with disagreeing with the Steelers drafting philosophy. But on here it is a huge offense to the circle jerk click and they'll keep a thread alive for over 122 pages just to try to beat people into submission. Don't agree with them? Then the CJC will hound you in every thread and follow you around from thread to thread.

Hell karma hadn't been on here 10 minutes before some ******* hits me with negative karma. That's what people that don't agree with the CJC go through. It probably keeps other people from posting because if they don't agree with 100% of what the Steelers do then here comes the CJC to put them in their place. Well **** um. I'm not going anywhere.

I don't think I've ever given negative karma, that seems lame to me. You may say no one ever said he has zero chance, but saying you're 99.9% sure the guy is going to fail is just the way a ***** says there is zero chance. Saying there is zero chance means you MIGHT have to have those words shoved down your throat, so people just bash every single negative they can in the post, then at the end finish with the bullshit "I hope I'm wrong, there is a .0000001% chance this guy makes it" so they have that as a fallback later on. It's a ***** move.

I'm starting to think the Jarvis Jones pick was a clusterfuck, but I'm hopeful I'm wrong. I really really hope I'm wrong, and this year he may well come though. That's what I'm hoping for, because as much as I know there are tons of people on this board from last year who will get to be right about him if he busts out, it's going to suck for the team if he does. He was not impressive last year, but I'm hoping that's the whole "He's a rookie, game moving to fast for him" thing.

Of course I can't remember every post in this thread. But I don't recall any poster saying that. I remember most of the members talking about his lack of size, small catch radius etc... I know I never said it. My issues has always been that he was a reach for a 3rd round pick in this deep of draft when the Steelers have almost no depth anywhere.

I didn't like the Jones pick but maybe Porter can do something with him. He got a ton of playing time as a rookie so that will help him.

We all know who said it.

Well you guys are more invested into your circle jerk club than I am into keep up with everything everybody says. You people follow posters from thread to thread and even keep records of certain people's posts so you can throw it back at them. So I'm sure you know who said it.

Why the **** would someone need a "fallback"? Because the opinions on this board are Serious Business?

And, do you HAVE to be 100% in or 100% out on a guy? If so, you're behind on you're bitching - 90% of this thread is whining about how "Leave Archer alone! He could someday be good, maybe!" Why is it that anyone who disagreed with the pick is "required" - under the jurisdiction of Google Documents - to be 100% convinced that Archer will fail? Is there some ******* crime in thinking, "It looks to me like he won't make it, but anyone can be wrong, so there's always a chance"??

And don't you go on to say this?

I'm starting to think the Jarvis Jones pick was a clusterfuck, but I'm hopeful I'm wrong.

Sweet leaping ******* lizards!

and, honestly, NO ONE was 100% embracing the pick.NO ONE.
Certain posters were stating that there was an extremely small chance that he sticks. Some posters were saying that there is no position for him on the team. Others were saying that him putting on an active jersey would keep someone else off the actives list.

Still, no one was 100% hard for Dri Archer.

The one who was so gung ho that they were screaming that their analytical data and spreadsheet information proved that Dri has a minute chance of making the team was the same one who started in with questioning others' grasp of football knowledge and comparing it to a lack of hockey knowledge. All because some here simply didn't get all riled up and butt hurt about us taking the fastest guy in the draft to maybe add some speed to our offense and/or special teams. The posters who were attempting to find the silver lining in the pick were consistently **** on left and right by Mr Excel Spreadsheet himself.

****, I've even stated who I'd rather have had, and I'm not exactly "for" the Dri pick. It seemed to be the annual brainfart pick we make every single year. Though I can't exactly **** on the FO for choosing the high-risk high-reward guy and going for broke over playing it safe and steady.

If the ****** even returns a kick/punt for a TD that propels us into the playoffs or catches a pass/runs a play that ends in six points, a few times, it'll not be a bad pick. I mean, the guy was essentially a 4th round pick since he was at the end of the 3rd. We took a risk and STILL got the WR we wanted later.

Now, I'm not thrilled that TMC left, but I seriously doubt this thread was the straw that broke his camel's back. The man has quite a few irons in the fire away from this board, so this consistent bullshit just may not be worth it to him on the stress level.

More gibberish from the one off the circle jerk click I see. I don't keep up with what everyone says. I also don't follow people from one post to another. Unlike your ilk that is infatuated with a few posters on here. But keep up the "blah blah blah" ****. That'll teach people.

You dont keep up with anyone but know enough to put some in a group. Yet you dont know enough to know who we are referring too. No one believes your bull **** Vader.

Wait.. so no one was for the pick but the people that jumped TMC, dobre and my **** did it because we were "riled" up? Maybe you need to go back and re-read the thread? The only ones that got butt hurt were those that started screaming "speed speed speed" and "How dare you question the Steelers? Do you work for the NFL?" I even showed the posts a few weeks ago about people being elated about the pick... but now "nobody" embraced him?

If the ****** even returns a kick/punt for a TD that propels us into the playoffs or catches a pass/runs a play that ends in six points, a few times, it'll not be a bad pick. I mean, the guy was essentially a 4th round pick since he was at the end of the 3rd

This is so vague I'm not even sure how to evaluate it. So if he catches ONE TD that "propels" us into the playoffs it was a good pick? How could you tell it was the TD that did that? Or are you saying if he did it a few times? It's hard to tell because the first part of the sentence is singular "returns a kick/ punt" and the last part of the sentence is plural "a few times".

Players catch Tds all the time in the NFL that turn into busts. Rainey was a 5th round pick and had 2 Tds. Players bust all the time that have caught or run for Tds.

Can you ******* read? I don't keep up with everything you people or any people say. I know the group you people are in but I can't tell you every ******* word you've said. You're a bunch of rah rah black and gold colored glass childish click who can stand for anybody to disagree with you. So I don't give a **** what you believe you.

Exactly blah blah blah more bullshit. You arent stupid. You remember alot.

And you cant be serious cant stand for someone to disagree. Hardly what this was about. A ******** chose to speak in absolutes and got called out repeatedly. He cant, he will never, he didnt do it in college so he cant do it in the pros. He will be crushed blah blah blah.. Yet now all of a sudden you dont remember any of this. Just us calling him a hall of famer.

I see your typical childish **** is back. blah blah blah.. you need a bottle and a crib? So ONE guy spoke in absolutes and that means EVERYBODY that said anything bad about the pick needs to be stalked, have their posts copied and saved and be called out every ******* day by a circle jerk click? WOW.

I told you that I don't remember EVERY ******* word you said. But I remember you and others consistently bitching about people who dared not agree with your circle jerk club. I remember people saying he fumbled a lot, he was small, he didn't play PR in college etc. I never said I didn't remember that.

But as your usual self you know that isn't what this is about. You just want to do this **** over and over. Just like your circle jerk club loves to keep this thread alive so you can ***** about something else. I've never kept a spread sheet about what people on here say.... but some of your club does... don't they? I've never stalked anyone.. but some of your club does.. don't they? That's what this is about, not the people like TMC pointing out that he didn't like the pick and why.

The thing is the circle jerk club, as it is so affectionately known, has it right.

Why? Because Dri Archer is on this team at the moment. Nothing any of us can do about it. So instead of being miserable over it, hope the guy can be something. If he is, great for the Steelers and we fans. If not, the circle jerks just are not miserable before they have be.

It is what I will never get. I know it is a message board and all that, I get that part. But after the initial displeasure, which I support 100% (I didn't like the pick), what good does it do to keep grinding on it? Might as well support the guy, for **** sake. He isn't going anywhere. Besides, if those who dislike the guy are right, in the long run, so what? Won't do us or the Steelers any damn good. Unless one of you all gets hired..."Introducing the new Player Personnel Director...Vader! Don't know his real name at the moment. Doesn't really matter, as long as he doesn't pick another fast, midget running back."

By the way, I bet on any random day, some people here could pick just as well as the pros. I don't feel that is an indictment of the pros or that any of us are anything special. I just believe the draft is really that much of a crap shoot. So you get the job Vader, I'm pulling for you.
