So, other countries have driven infection rates to near zero, but then they open up and bam! New cases. One thing that Trump is absolutely right about...we are testing more per capita than every other country now. So who's to say cases aren't rising more than we know in other countries too.
We can slow this with mask wearing but we can't stop it. What's the solution TIbs? Full vaccination will take years if it ever happens. What should Trump do? Stay at home orders forever? Do you think a national mask mandate is enforceable or will it just cause people to want to rebel even more?

Our national positivity rate is only slightly above many of the "success stories" and we are testing way more per capita than all of them. So while I'm not a fan of many dumb things Trump says I'm not sure what exactly he could be doing (beyond encouraging people to wear masks, which he has at least started to do in lukewarm fashion).

First and foremost, the disinformation campaign being waged by Trump and his associates has to stop. He's created widespread confusion and chaos with his anti-Science messaging. He regularly contradicts his own agencies, just adds fuel to the fire of distrust that's prevelant with the Trump base. And yes, what seems to have flattened the curve significantly in the EU has been mandatory mask wearing in public, in shops and on public transport, the use of santizer and disinfectant, readily available everywhere for free, and the public's willingness to abide by social distancing norms. This is a world-wide pandemic, with ebbs and flows. The struggle is real and will continue until a vaccine can be implemented. We are in for the long haul, and the sooner people can wrap their heads around it, the better the chances of dealing with it effectively. Businesses and schools need to take the utmost precaution while somehow continuing to function.

I think the problem here is that we are a free society. We don't want an overbearing government forcing things on us. We don't want to be tracked and traced and forced to stay in our homes.
While those virtues aren't ideal for controlling a pandemic, being the most free and prosperous nation on earth has probably saved many more lives than it has cost. I know that's no comfort to someone who lost grandma recently, but it is likely the big picture.
That said, wear your mask everyone! Let's slow these transmission rates to the extent possible.

Not even close to a relevant analogy Tibs. This is a virus that kills less than 1% of people who get infected. Let's stop acting like catching it is an automatic death sentence.
I want to slow the spread so hospitals are not overwhelmed. But somehow in the minds of many it's gone from slowing the spread and flattening the curve to avoiding any new infections. That is not possible. In the US or anywhere else.

It's interesting that the places where positive rates are highest right now, in terms of states and countries, are largely places that did not get hit hardest early on. Lowest rates in places that got crushed early and hard.

Both Bill Nye and this lady are frauds because mask wearing is not about how much air or how many virus particles get through. It's about how far and wide droplets of saliva and mucus spread. But interestingly enough for people who say they can't breathe with a cloth mask on and CO2 can't get out, I guess this lady just disproved that theory.

I wear a mask in stores and stuff. It's mandatory around here most places to get service anyway. I do find it silly that if you go into a restaurant you have to have a mask on, but once you are seated, you can take it off. Guess this virus takes dinner breaks too.
Just too much conflicting stuff for people not to question it. I mean, can't go to church, but I can riot with thousands of my closest friends. Can't go to the polls to vote, but I can hang out in the cesspool that is walmart with as many people and as long as I like. Add to that all the dishonest **** the government has pulled on it's people in recent years and you expect people are going trust anything that is coming from the government? Even when it is from health experts, who, coincidentally, continue to put out conflicting information almost daily. You want Americans to trust those people? If someone meets for a hook up, contracts COVID, does that form of COVID not spread to others mysteriously? Is this form of "Hook Up COVID" not contagious? Of course it is. He said, you risk becoming an asymptomatic carrier. Thus a spreader.
