Their deaths have ALWAYS been in the low single digits. In this context, absolute #s don't matter. It's the same fucken argument you used for Israel - "they are the size of one of our states so it doesn't matter." But South Dakota and North Dakota were fine for you to point to when their numbers supported your political purpose.

The point you're missing (that you'd miss if it were driven through your head taped to a spike) is that while being the highest vaxed state in the US, they are seeing their highest case loads EVER, nearly and very close to their highest deaths, have 76% of their Covid deaths vaxed people and their ICUs are full as their breakthrough cases rise.

We can agree to disagree then. This is a situation where she has a donor, that is not going to be giving that kidney to anyone else. Neither are vaccinated, so they are medical equivalents in that sense. It appears she and her insurance are able to pay for the procedure. Due to her Christian faith, she's refusing the vax because aborted fetal cells (not clones of fetal cells) are in the vaccines.

The surgery could be performed, she has a donor (the medical system isn't providing her a kidney that would otherwise go to someone else), and she can cover the expenses. I say why not.

The part you seem to be missing is if she is immunosuppressed as she would need to be for the rest of her life, she would have a strong chance of dying from covid. They aren't doing this to punish her, they are doing this to give her the best chance of survival. You don't go in and take out someone's kidney, which has its own risks, to put into someone who has a 20-30% chance of dying of covid in the middle of a pandemic.

Several other vaccines were researched and tested on fetal cell lines, I wonder if she refuses all of them as well. If so then I guess she's also at risk of dying from several other common illnesses if immunocompromised, which makes her even less of a good candidate for a transplant. (The covid vaccines do not have aborted fetal cells in them. They are developed and tested using fetal cell lines that have been in existence for decades. So is the rubella vaccine, the hepatitis A vaccine, and a few others. )
