2016-2017 Pens----Still with 100% more Kessel

Dreaming, the Pens are the ones ******** all over themselves

You won't win getting outshot 40-20 every game. Eventually it will come back to bite you. Breaking up Sid and Jake and Malkin and Kessel was stupid too.

...and when you pull the pin on the MAF playoff grenade, it's only a matter of time until it blows up in your face. This team is back to "knowing" who they have in goal.

Well then that should be reason enough to sack up and play something that resemble's defense. How does knowing your goalie might let in 5+ make you slack up?

They are beat up, and dead tired but I also see a serious lack of effort in a few instances. Malkin in more than one instance comes to mind. Kessel pisses me off sometimes too. I dont know if it is the post Cup hangover or what, but you don't see the hunger in some of these guys that wee seen last year.

this could be the most telling part of it all. Been there, done that, but the Caps have been wanting it longer and more. It's just possible the Pens ran out of steam. The fight is not there like last year. Playing CBJ and WASH back to back took it's toll. I'm not mad. I wish they didn't blow a 3-1 series lead to these chumps, but the Caps are built to win now. The injuries were bound to catch up with them. Letang, Murray and now Daley out. Too much to overcome.

I don't buy this "tired" excuse at all.

It's a cop-out. They are being outplayed and out hustled all over the ice. They are being ate up on both ends.

If they lose this will be the third time in 7 years the team has blown a 3-1 series lead. The Fleury Legacy.

Actually it is much much more than even "wanting" a cup.....They literally have their backs against a wall and basically the entire world is saying you are the best team and this year you have no other option but to win it. No more excuses. No more next year. How can they possibly keep this team together in its current state if they fail again? If by some unbelievable stroke luck from the hockey gods the Pens win tomorrow night, can you imagine the state of Capitals hockey in DC? The tears of unfathomable sadness in DC would raise sea level's and flood the coastline. Al Gore has already confirmed this.

This is why I think there is a "chance" you might see the Caps crumble in game 7 because when it comes right down to it, THEY are the ones that are expected to win and THEY are the ones that have consistently choked against the Pens in the playoffs.

If they do manage to dominate the Pens again tomorrow night all you can do is tip your hat to them and hope someone from the Western conference kicks their *****.

You win by the sword and die by the sword. As good as he has played in both series, his bad games are not nearly that bad. The shot totals are 2-1. The pressure is almost suffocating. He has stole his game or two. Asking him to steal one more, in DC, seems very unlikely. I hate the old cliche, but it will take a whole team effort to win Game 7.

No more alibis

The better TEAM wins. If it's the Caps, so be it.

I think it's obvious Sid isn't 100% and Malkin playing lazy dumbass hockey again isn't helping.

Our blue line is a complete mess and can barely complete a 5 ft pass without a turnover. Yeah - Letang mattered, there's no fixing that.

Idk Spike, these guys look like they are playing crippled. They gave the caps too much confidence though. It is what is. Winner moves on. Hope Malkin backs up his talk. For as optimistic I have been, my sphincter was tight last night.

I'll be in my seat Wednesday night cheering though

They are beat up, and dead tired.

More excuses

that theory doesn't wash - Caps played more games, why aren't they "tired"?

Pens saw the reemergence of playoff Fleury and they gave up, that's my new theory

What talk, what was Malkin saying?

Just feeling blah about the whole thing. I don't buy into the tired stuff either. Everyone is tired. No matter now. Win or go home. The last two games have been a sloppy **** show. I hope they bring it. I'd rather they go down the next round vs going down against these *****. The refs need to call the ******* game. This let them play **** is horseshit.

why are the Caps not tired- they are the ones giving out the punishment. This is the second physical series in a row where the Pens are being out shot and out hit. That has to take a toll. I'm not making excuses, but how else do you see why they are two, three steps behind? They look like a beat hockey team with no life, no jump. Their passing has become very subpar, they can't clear their zone and have no time in the WASH end.

Blaming it all on Fleury is bullshit. You can't win if you're not putting the puck in the net, and you can't put the puck in the net taking 20 shots a game while the other team is taking 35. 9 goals the last 4 games. You better have Ken Dryden in the net to win with that.

and Fleury gave up 9 goals in the last two games, why didn't they pull him early in Game 6? I think the team is questioning that too, being left to sink with him in net.

I already said all that about being outshot about a dozen times too - I'm saying now the TEAM doesn't trust him anymore, thus the apathy in protecting him

Pittsburgh Penguins ✔ @penguins
Coach on physicality: "I think the best way to play against it is to use our speed to our favor. We've just got to try and play our game."

Then make it happen.

He's out of answers, Spike. It's the same mantra he has used in the past and it's worked. The last 2 games, not so much.

In this series they have a better average when playing in DC than in The Burgh so they know they can play on the road and win... I have a feeling they are going get their heads out of their arses tomorrow night and win the damn game. Pittsburgh Teams are never more dangerous than when they are dead.

Maybe, now that the NHL got the game seven that they wanted, the refs might start making the calls they have been letting go for the Caps... Nah, forget it, they will let the physical, dirty Caps do what they do and not do anything that would give a team an advantage in power plays. Refs who try to not decide games by making calls are the ones that decide the games.

The turnovers aren't coming from being hit or tired - they just plain SUCK against the Caps now. At some point you have to give them credit too.

Dammit , why couldn't we play Columbus every round!

You know what was really funny and frustrating at the same time was?

When a Penguin finally made a physical play and was CALLED FOR ROUGHING!
The caps have been absoluetly POUNDING us like that all freakin series...and when the SMALLEST of all Penguins does it...

We get a freaking penalty!!

UGH!!

Blaming the refs is the LAST thing anyone should be doing - it's weak sauce
