2016-2017 Pens----Still with 100% more Kessel

I'm going to be the first to say, that I love what the Nashville fans are doing. They're putting ice hockey in the national limelight with their passion and love for the game. I really hope this is a turning point for ice hockey in this country, because this sport kills the boring *** NBA and MLB, or the snoozefest that is Soccer. MLS or EPL...

I agree with this. I like the chants and what not. Makes it more interesting. I do not like the catfish tossing though. I kinda equate the fans to the Pirate fans of a few years ago. Pirates went from crappy to good and the fans got energized. Unfortunately we are back to crappy again.

Has sullivan said anything about the goalie for next game? I am curious to see what he does. I personally would put fleury in with a short leash. I think he got unfairly benched after 1 bad game.

I think fleury is a more athletic and reactive goalie. He is not afraid to get involved in the chaos around the net. Also fleury likely wont be around next year and i think he deserves a chance to get a proper send off. Without him the pens would have been golfing long ago.

Murray may be more technically sound, but if things go wrong in front of him he seems to get lost. He doesn't like the traffic in front and what not. He has also seemed slow. I am wondering if he has some type of injury. He hasnt seemed right since that one collison.

as of this morning, the talking heads feel Sully will stay with his guy in Murray. I will trust his instincts because he hasn't made many bad decisions the past two PO. For the boost factor, I would start MAF tomorrow. You know the crowd loves him and would give them an added excitement factor, but whether they would win with him in net is a different story. Game 6 will be too late to make any change. As someone stated this morning, they wouldn't win those two games with Patrick Roy in net scoring one goal a game. So very true. If they don't get Kessel, Geno and second hand scoring from their 3rd and 4th lines, all will be moot.

Man this is a long wait between games. They got no excuse for not having fresh legs. It's all the proper mindset. How bad do they want it? I'd treat last year as if it didn't happen. Yeah I understand the promo stuff by NBC, nhl and the catfish. They have a good product when they don't monkey **** the rule book in the playoffs. They need some good t.v. contracts so I can see more pens games.

These long breaks between games do blow. They should be playing tonight. Plus, I don't have anything going on tonight, but do tomorrow evening. Argggh! The NBA is also ridiculous with 3 days in-between games. I want my entertainment & misery, and I want it NOW!

These longer breaks in between games is the best thing that could happen to the Pens right now I think. I hate it too but am glad they can rest up some and work on adjustments. Need Bonino back too.

I love the passion too. But being the opposition right now I have to dislike for my boys in the B&G.

It really is great for the sport to get that exposure. The NHL needs it if they want to grow. I still think player safety needs to be valued as well. The skill is getting better. Gotta protect those players and market them

I agree, but it's only good if it helps the Pens win. We do need Bonino back, but it doesn't look good.

A healthier Predators team is getting the rest too.

I just don't know if the Pens have the juice. On one hand, you look at the 2 games in Nashville where they were beaten 9-2 total. At the same time you are encouraged by all the ******* scoring chances the Pens generated. I think the younger, faster legs of the Preds is just too much and the Preds will likely win the Cup. Pens need a miracle, and I am not sure Nick Bonino is it.

you're correct, Sarge. All of a sudden, the Pens look like the slower team and the tables are turned. The Pens are having a hard time keeping up. In many ways, The Preds are the Pens of 2016. Our slower and older guys are getting exposed.

As Pens fan we are spoiled. I went to my first game in 1969. I endured a LONG dry spell. The Civic Arena used to have a passionate fan base. I can remember taunting Barclay Plager. It was LOUD ! Now at PPG it's move of a golf clap. Spoiled I tell ya. If the Pens win tomorrow the cup is coming home. I just can't see losing a Game seven at home.

Yea and they looked slow in the Caps series and slow against the Sens too and we know how that turned out.

Untill the Preds show up at PPG Paints arena and give the Pens an *** whipping on home ice I still think the Pens have a chance....

From the talk of some of then Pens fans the last few days maybe cancel the rest of the games and just give them the cup?

They actually did outplay us in Pittsburgh in both games (especially game 1) but we somehow won both. The Pens need to show up and finally play for 60 minutes. Get past the blue line and shoot the puck. The Preds are undisciplined and should have double the penalties that have been called on them. But, they don't give a **** because we can't score on the power play. We MUST fix our power play now!

The only thing that matters is scoreboard. Just like in football. You can throw for 400 yards, run for a 150 and still have the other team beat you with much less. Put it in the net. Shoot it and stop jerking off on the powerplay. Keep it simple. If they have anything left in the tank we will know Thursday night. Simple as that.

As long as there are games to be played I always remain optimistic.

It's been a weird Final, but I think the Pens will find a way to weather the weird vibes

Too spoiled.

To watch Sid grow as a player and re-ignite with a Cup victory last season.
The coaching and farm club being a strong crutch as well. Back to back Final appearances.
What is it? The 12th consecutive season of post season appearances?

The Pens are a legit and respectable organization. Anytime as a fan you wear a Pens or Steelers gear. You feel a sense of pride, especially with the history and tradition.

We may not get the recognition like the catfish tossers, but this board alone has shown how passionate we can be. Keep rooting hard guys. The Pens will win. If not, yeah it'll suck. But always gonna be damn proud of the way this team found ways to battle back.

And it's been a damn fun ride with you guys. We all bring our superstitions and insights. Always makes a day fun

All Pittsburgh fans are relatively spoiled anyway. The Steelers, need say no more. Kings of the Rings! The Pens have done some amazing things since Mario was drafted. Mario to Jagr to Sid to Geno. Yea, we are spoiled and sometimes don't appreciate our team's success, at times. All you have to do is look at some of the teams around the league like Arizona, Winnepeg and Hell, even Toronto, whom don't know what winning a championship feels like. The Pirates have tasted success in spurts through the decades.

I do appreciate all out teams, even though i'm hard of them, i feel blessed we are not like some cities that have no major sports team. I wonder how they get by, but they do.

Saying that, I've been hearing some positive quotes from the Pens going into Tomorrow night. They sound confident in each other and not panicking. I do think we will see the desperation and with the crowd behind them, will pull it out. The puck is bound to start going into the back of the net. They have been held down long enough.

The Pens are on an edge to have a surge soon. I like the talk of the locker room going into tomorrow's game. The non panic with the vet's and Sullivan's term "belief in each other".

I feel pretty ok. Just tired from work here lol. I need to catch some zzz's and deliver my best vibes

Have we given up here, the comments on this last page is as if we are done, last I saw it is a tied series and we play at home. Fans at game stay into the game and show Nashville we don't need all the country singers to make a fan base, we at least wear the names of players on our jersey's not our personal names.

Given up? Fak naw!

This years team has been left for dead numerous times. A bit of soul searching and this series is right as can be

nah, they are not done. Not yet. It comes down to tomorrow night, though. They are saying the right things, have the right attitude and been here before. They have to win Game 5, period. Will worry about the rest of the series on Friday.

Tied up 2-2 with home ice, it could be worse

yay! Kunitz out of the top 6!

#Pens lines:
Guentzel-Crosby-Sheary
Wilson-Malkin-Kessel
Kunitz-Cullen-Rust
Hagelin-Rowney-Archibald

Sid, Geno, Kessel and Guentzel need to produce. No argument, no variables to discuss. They have to find ways to produce.

I like the first line. Malkin and kessel should be together, but i might put kunitz on that line for some defense / grind / hitting. I would just flip flop kunitz and wilson. Any word I the d pairings. I feel some changes need to be made there
