2016-2017 Pens----Still with 100% more Kessel

Sucks with Murray out. But MAF's confidence seems to get higher each game. He's been taking some risks with his signature aggressive poke checking. Not sure how I feel about Kunitz coming back. The Pens can use a bit of a thud player, but the strength is speed

I just hope Fleury can keep his flopping around on the ice and his juicy rebounds to a minimum.

Kunitz, he's a body we can use I guess, but he's a second slow on everything now. Keep him to the 4th line and off the PP.

Kunitz would compliment the 3rd or 4th line well. I agree with that. His puck handling doesn't suit Sid or Malkin's line

I wouldn't expect Murray back until the Stanley Cup series. There's an outside shot at the ECF since groin pulls are 4-6 weeks. 4 weeks puts us at the ECF and 6 weeks at the Stanley Cup series.

The series in front of MAF is where the marbles are. If he can get through WASH, it's kinda downhill from there. MM or not, we'll be in really good shape. The one player that can make a huge difference is Brooks Orpik. He punished TOR and often. We really don't have an answer if he is knocking our guys around. He has a knack for the big hit. Wish we still had him.

Orpik is a pylon, he doesn't worry me.

He just doesn't have the speed Sid needs, finally we have the young legs to keep up with him, don't screw with that!

As long as Kunitz stay out of the top 6 and plays limited minutes he could play well. Maybe he can create some space for Sheary on the third line. Let him be our mini Orpik.

We can't just have 2 scoring lines. Defense will not win this series, we need to score in buckets.

I'd like to see Rowney at center---Kunitz and Kunhackle at winger. That line would have just the right amount of speed and a physical presence *wishful thinking though*

wear the suckers down and score! TOR could score, but not when they really needed to. The Pens can and that will be the difference. Relentlessness, speed and smart decisions.

Toronto exposed the caps weakness in that the caps cannot skate with a fast team. The Pens weakness is there defensive play. But thats been a season long dilemma, even when Letang was playing. The Pens have better depth than the leafs and will bring pressure with all lines. I think the Pens make a statement early. I prefer the underdog role however. So we shall see

Spoke with a caps fan today. He thinks the Pens take the series because we are a speed team.

The Caps have put all their eggs in one basket. This is it, if they hope to win a Cup. It's all or nothing for them. Nothing shy of the Cup is failure. The pressure is on them.

This series should be epic.

It should be a great series. I'm not trying to be a smart ***, but how many seasons have been failures for them? Granted, this is THE team for them, but they have a history of folding in the playoffs and the Ovi era is no exception. One more disappointed Pens series should do the trick of jumping off bridges in DC.

Sullivan on Hagelin: Big step today, getting involved in team practice. He's getting eager. Take it day-to-day. He's a lot closer -SK

Sullivan will have this team prepared for battle. I'm not nervous. From my view, with all the injuries the Pens have dealt with and for Sullivan to put the Pens in the spot they are in now. That commands a lot of respect and great effort by the guys playing. Another thing that strikes me are the composure of the WBS guys when they are called up. These youngsters now are not phased by the NHL lights.

The Pens need to just play their game this series and can/should win.
As a former hockey player myself. I understand the NHL culture has a mutual respect for each other. But for the series, our guys need to get in Ovies and Oshies face. Send them respect after the series. Aside from them, the Pens speed can take this series over.

X-factors: Kessel, Rust and Hornqvist. I'm expecting a huge series from these three

NO! they do NOT! WE don't have the team for a thug match.

The LAST thing we need to do is let them get in a brawling dick swinging match.

WE beat them with SKILL and SPEED!

Turn the other cheek, let them take the penaltIes, ignore the hits. This is NOT a pissing contest - **** that ****.

PLAY OUR GAME!

It's a Hockey Night in Pittsburgh, boys! I have that nervous excitement brewing! Tonight is important to make a statement. Put WASH on their heels!

Going to be a long day.

and night

Actually, I was more worried heading into the Columbus series - I think we know what to expect from the Caps. Just DONT let them get under our skin and take a bunch of silly penalties trying to out-muscle them - Fleury will be flopping around in enough trouble as it is, Caps can score on the PP

The way I see it, if the Pens lose tonight then we all will be disappointed, but still OK.

The Caps lose tonight and people in Washington will be jumping off of bridges

And MAF. He has to really step up. I bet the Caps put a lot of shots on goal up tonight

Fleury scares me the most. They will have to play better defense. There's just no way around that.

I agree. easier said than done of course, especially around the net

I do think getting Hagelin back would make a difference, adding his speed to that 3rd line could be a major factor in defeating heavy teams like the Caps.

you know Sully's game plan, "Just play our game. Play fast, play hard and skate away from the after the whistle nonsense." I really think we will be ready for the crowd and Craps. We know how we need to play to beat them. Been there, done that. Do it again!
