2016-2017 Pens----Still with 100% more Kessel

Bring back the HBK line!

They DID! It sucked!

HBK line was probably the worst line last tonight. Hopefully Sully does not get any ideas about reuniting them EVER again, that ship has sailed.

Even worse, he put Kunitz on the Malkin-Kessel line and ****** that up. Bring back the HMK line!

Keep Kunitz OUT of the top 6!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How did I miss that? Besides the power play? I had too much Jamo I guess.

Holtby had one hell of a third period. Fleury, not so much.

we've had all the puck luck, things change.

Eh, the Capitals pretty much controlled this game from start to finish. .

I disagree, I thought the Pens were the better team in the 1st p for the first time this series. The second was holding serve, then the bottom dropped out in the 3rd.

Had golden opportunities to extend the lead early in the third and they blew it. Holtby got a ton of confidence from the stops, and that gave the Caps life. From the time of all those missed chances until the end of the game, they completely unraveled.

Not a good loss.

HBK hasn't clicked this season. Sheary and Rust have done decent with Bonino. Malkin has been/is turning the puck over too much. Need steady play from him. He has Kessel and Hagelin. Yet still tries to rush up the middle of the ice
Despite the lack effort. I thought the Pens got some good chances to shoot. Guess they forgot Holtby's glove side.
Kunhackle and Bonino shot right into his chest.

This loss was more of a careless effort by the offense. The ****** defensive display shouldn't surprise anyone. That's been a season long problem. Rest up, correct the mistakes and end the series.

ALL the series games are 3-2 now - gonna be some tight sphincters today as the elimination games begin - how many go full 7, I wonder

Preds, Ducks can end it today

Relax Spike,

They'll close it out at home. The craps are not a push over team. They are the regular season champs, who invested a ton into this seasons roster. Had to expect a win in front of the home crowd. The Pens didn't play a lights out game, for 2 periods I thought they did enough to win. After the first 2 or 3 minutes of the 3rd; they really went downhill

Wash was gonna put up some goals on the Pens defense eventually. Digest the loss, move on
And correct/mask the mistakes. Need bigger play from Malkin. Sid was cautious it seemed. Cannot blame him. They'll
be alright. This series has left me unsure of a chance at a repeat. But I'd honestly be content in just KO'ing the caps this post season

The Caps are skating to the puck carrier on defense, not giving them time or space to get off a shot.

In the Pens zone, for some reason, the D is skating away from the puck carrier, giving them time and space to shoot. That's why all of the goals were inside the circles. That needs fixed, because Washington has snipers, and MAF can't react to point blank shots where the shooter has the entire net to shoot at. No goalie can...

It's been a season long thing. The Pens go into a PK type mentality on defense. I'm guessing it's supposed to be for the wingers or centerman to have more shot up ice if they can get possession of the puck. The defensive play is frustrating.

Sure as Hell hope we close it out in game 6, cuz if we lose that one I have zero confidence in us winning game 7. Gonna need huge performances from Sid, Geno, and Fleury

Blocking shots is the only defense we have.

Malkin needs to stop turning the puck over in neutral ice. I'd let Kessel or Rust/Hagelin charge up the boards. Crosby's line is playing decent.
That defense needs a better performance. The firepower is there to put it away.

That one turnover was the worst one I've ever seen. Geno was just like, eh, here ya go, you can have it. And skated away.

Malkin is a ******* liability half the time. The other half great player.

for real, he pisses me off with his cute little dump passes to nowhere and his lazy penalties. Just play the freakin' game hard and fast. Not too much to ask. Keep that finesse crap for the regular season against Arizona and Winnipeg.

He's so much better with Sid on the bench, when he comes back every time it's like "Sids back, he's got it, I'll just swoop around and do nothing"

Yeah. He tries to do too much

he does, but doesn't anyone talk to him? It's not we haven't seen this for awhile. He needs to learn to K.I.S.S.

That's what I'd like to know.
Malkin has had this style of play for a while already. Dating back to Bylsma. Maybe it's just a habit. In a fast game like hockey, those are more often than not hard to break. The guy can take over games when he's on fire. But those stretches are so in between.

I like the guy. But I get the frustration. Same can go for guys like Sheary, Kessel, Kunhackle. Tons of talent --- too fancy to let the opponent. The Pens dangle a steak and the caps got it yesterday.

If the Pens just play straight forward hockey. This can be a 2-3 goal win for the Pens. So idk. I was reading the LGP forum earlier. They stated Daley was missing in the 3rd. So can explain the lack of cleared pucks due to some tired bodies I suppose

I wondered what was up with Daley. I only watched the last of the second and the third periods.

Update?

Preds took care of business

Nashville is the new home of power hockey, they flattened the Blues

I'll admit, I don't have time to keep up on the Pens as I should in the regular season, I can't commit to every game with family and work travel. But I'm all in for the playoffs. And I think Daley sucks. He's directly responsible for the game 3 loss. Replace him with a goon.

Agreed.

Daley has regressed a ton compared to last year. He did suffer a pretty nasty ankle injury in the ECF last year. I do think the Pens could use a little nastiness on a line or 2. I. Get the whole just play hockey mantra. The Pens are one of the best teams to utilize speed and have the skill to do so. But these guys get pushed around at times. I like the feistiness in Kunitz. Guys like Cole and Letang and to an extent Malkin will bring it. But you want those guys skating up on rushes more than falling back. The Pens need a guy who can hold his own in the D zone like Lovejoy, but also have a little chip in him like say an Asham/Sestito/Engelland

I'm still confident in this team has the cajones to KO the caps. Possibly run through the ECF against the Sens/Rags. I think Nashville takes the west and possibly Lord Stanley. They have speed, and their offensive set up is legit. I like the way they pass around the wing side

Those preds look real

I heard he's done for the playoffs with the ankle injury again, but waiting on the MRI to confirm.
