2018-19 Penguins and NHL Offseason

DeSmith put on a clinic tonight. To bad they could only come up with one goal for support. He had a great OT when they were on the PP and did a great job in the shoot out.

I was pretty worried when the isles went to the PP. DeSmith lost his stick too.
Credit to Rust and Aston-Reese for laying it on the line and blocking shots.

3rd period was just back and forth.

Do the pens have issues, hell yea. Are they still in the playoff picture, hell yea. I never liked that they are satisfied squeaking into the playoffs. I think we all know that the window is closing. Lots of hockey left and I am going to enjoy it.

Well yeah, it's not hard to make the playoffs in hockey. For the talent level on the team they are playing terrible.

Watched the game..It was definitely a blast watching the shootout. DeSmith seems to really be coming along. Kessel showed signs of life. Malkin still looks like he has zoned out. Wonder if he really wants to be on the team What a waste of talent.

I would point blank ask if he needs a change of scenery. I'm not even hating on the guy, but he reminds of someone who is sleepwalking out there. Kessel did show me some hustle. The two new guys, I forget they are out there, at times too.

Yes. The Penguins were playing simple north & south hockey.
Nothing fancy. Just hockey.

Now it seems we're trying to be the harlem globetrotters on ice.
Yesterday showed what a simple play in game can do. Every line was applying pressure last night

I recall back in the Mario and Jagr days they were guilty of trying to do too much as well. Just shoot the damn puck was uttered a lot back then too

DeSmith certainly showed what he is capable of. He has turned out much better than I would have guessed. For how long is the question ?

Jake first every NHL shootout and he dekes and scores 5 hole. Damn, he is going to be expensive next year.

Kessel back checking..... couldn't believe it but he has contributed 4 games in a row.

Malkin being invisible (while playing horrible D) is surprising. I think the last 5-6 games the worst I can remember. He's always been temperamental and may be pouting since he's been separated from Phil. With that being said. He is still one point ahead of Sid and tied with Kessel.

Plus it seems that Jake gets the ever living !@#$ beat out of him every game too and hes not that big of a guy. He keeps coming back though. Tells me he has a lot of dedication to his work.

I think Sid got on Kessel.
I think Bob Errey was saying it Saturday during the Sens game. Something along the lines that Crosby will be willing to have Kessel as a winger if he commits himself defensively.

I like the newfound aggressiveness.
Kessel's defensive efforts are actually underrated of late.
I hope he keeps it up.

Sid, Mario, Jagr and Malkin have the talent to be fancy.
Just when you have linemates who are grinders or thrive on opportunities cause your star player demands attention, then I feel simplify the game and everyone is happy.

Just like any team sport.
You want to create a system where everyone can contribute with what tools they have.
So yes! Just shoot the damn thing! Lol

Garrett Wilson. Captain of WBS. Someone I've been wanting called up for awhile.
Recently acauired Marcus? Markus? Petterson.

Yes they hustle. Petterson is a smart Dman.
I like having JSD back too. He adds some speed and some nice puck control.

For as much as I have cursed at Brassard.
He's finally coming along.

Murray is back from IR and Jarry will be back at WBS. I would like to think the Pens would let DeSmith continue. Overall DeSmith has played well. Depending on which stats you choose he is ranked around the top 10 in the NHL. His play against the Islanders on Monday was solid. Let him play until he has a bad game.

I guess that was an ok first period. Glad Rust scored. 2-1. Nice to see it on NBC sports

What's gotten into Phil?
I've never seen him aggressive. I like it lol
