Vegas is utilizing him perfect.
Sullivan felt he didn't fit our system.

I like the fast pace we used to play, but we need some intimidating and physical bottom lines

Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't the Pens win cups when there was more emphasis on defense and the offense chipped in on D. High flying offense is exciting and sells tickets but I think it's the defense that wins championships. Where have we heard that before? :)

Yes. The Penguins were playing simple north & south hockey.
Nothing fancy. Just hockey.


Now it seems we're trying to be the harlem globetrotters on ice.
Yesterday showed what a simple play in game can do. Every line was applying pressure last night
 
Great game last night ! I thought I was going to lose my second hat this week. Loved seeing Crosby with Jake and Kessel. The level Sid is at right now is insane. He and Kessel really tried to get Letang the hatty and it was fun to watch. Hornqvist was hurt and out for most of the game, I didn't see what happened. All I saw was him coming off the bench. All said, we are now 3rd in the metro and back in the playoff picture.

Seems like the team is starting to roll. My fear is GMJR does a shake up and blows the locker room like last year. Media has Kessell, Maata and Brassard in play. Also read an article that Jake took notice of the Nylander hold out. Jake is going to be expensive. No matter how any of this turns out. Looks like we should have some good Pens hockey for a while.

We've reached the time of year that I won't get to many games. Driving over the mountains around Somerset gets nasty.

I was pretty burnt out last year. Played a lot of hockey.
Both the '16 and '17 conference finals took years off my life I'm sure. That double OT vs Ottawa, I never want to experience that again.

I loved Hagelin, but Pearson is growing on me.
I think it'll be a different team in February for the better
 
I can deal with a 2-1 over time loss. Gave them too many power play opportunities for sure. Glad they didn't give up a shorthanded goal ..haha
 
should have beaten this OTT team without some of their key players. The Pens outplayed them in the 2nd and 3rd periods. Will have to take the point and get ready for Monday.

You know it's a bad night when Rust has a chance at a break away only to have the puck jar the stick out of his hands.
This game was bothersome cause the Pens were practically living in Ottawa's zone. We were peppering Anderson with shots all game.


Good to see JSD back. I remember him playing in NJ earlier this season and he looked pretty decent

Sooner or later Rust is going to go on a tear and start scoring goals left and right. Has to swing the other way soon.

The game was weird. LeTang was involved in a lot of crazy shenanigans. Rust will break out. It's a matter of time. He working hard.

I'm glad they picked Dea back up. His goal was Sid-like.
 
Rust has truly become the new Hagelin. Chances galore but can't close. Letang has to keep his emotions somewhat under control. 3rd period stupidity cost us a point. The point was the difference between 3rd and 5th in the Metro.

Last night was the worst game I can recall for the officiating. The missed calls went both ways but it was horrible.

Johnson actually looked good.

The Penguins are starting to look like a dumpster fire.... all these losses so far this season. Losing to Ottawa twice is unacceptable. The Senators are a BAD hockey team. Karlsson is out, Bobby Ryan was out last night. No excuse.

The helmet getting knocked off was clean. It was the start.
Tchachuk(however you spell his name) got away with a push in the back. After that Letang's emotions were downhill.

I still feel the Pens had plenty of opportunities to put the game away.
Puck movement and offensive zone possession were amazing practically.

When you have what seemed like six possessions with over 30 seconds of a chance to score.
Was really a bad puck luck game

That they did, they just couldn't beat Anderson. It looked from the outset, he was going to be tough to beat. Missing Schultz and Horny hurts. Still would like to Malkin take over a game. I'm going to call him Kasper until he shows up.

I think the earlier dumpster fire has simmered more into a smaller bonfire. Right now the compete level is there. Hell, I've even seen Kessel back check. 1st line production has been solid, 4th line has started to contribute. If Malkin can start scoring this team has a chance. At this point, this team can go either way.

The team is still losing games it should win. Gave up a bad goal to the Flyers and lost. Lost two games at Ottawa that should have won. Also should have won the Buffalo game a couple weeks ago. Blew a 2+ goal lead! Unacceptable!!

Do the pens have issues, hell yea. Are they still in the playoff picture, hell yea. I never liked that they are satisfied squeaking into the playoffs. I think we all know that the window is closing. Lots of hockey left and I am going to enjoy it.

DeSmith robbed Fillpula. That was a sick glove denial.

Khakis out. Jake Guentzel from state farm with the shootout winner
 
DeSmith put on a clinic tonight. To bad they could only come up with one goal for support. He had a great OT when they were on the PP and did a great job in the shoot out.
