2018-19 Penguins and NHL Offseason

Hat trick for Rust. That dude is magic this evening. That guy is a hair away from having 5 goals.

Man he sucks bad right now. The last pens power play was one of the worst I've seen in a long time. The Blackhawks had a better chance to score on that. Rust may have to score again to tie it up. Nobody else is getting in.

Any powerplay is bad when the opposing team is challenging in your end.
I thought the 2nd rush was actually good. Good passing, someone other than Rust needs to get in back of the net. Pressure is there

I'm not sure what has happened to him,but he's just half assing it and is becoming a liability.
 
What has Geno done besides give up penalties? Something's wrong with him. Also, looks like
Kessel is afraid to shoot

One more thing - gotta wonder what Murray is thinking. DeSmith let in a couple of soft ones tonight
 
Malkin looks like he just doesn't give a **** anymore. I'd be listening to trade offers for him. And still not impressed with Brassard. He had a decent run there, but I just don't see where he's great. Feel for Rust, he deserved a win.
 
DeSmith made some good saves, but looked very suspect tonight. He was a mess most of the night. Can't believe they lost to the worst team in the NHL and Rust got a HT, to boot.

Whatever happened to the days when opponents paid a price for camping out in the slot and crease areas. Outlet passes are supposed to be just that. Failure to clear the net front and the piss poor 1st clearing passes are killing DeSmith. The cutesy no look passes are ridiculous. No look passes are for dominant teams and the Pens certainly aren't dominant. Shoot first mentality, Sully has said it after almost every loss. I guess Rust was the only one to read that memo.

I had said to let DeSmith start until he had a bad game, well here we are. To be fair, most of the goals came from the Pens poor defense but they went in. I hope Murray is physically and mentally ready.

Malkin leads the team in penalty minutes. If there was a stat for STUPID penalty minutes, he would lead the league.

I can't wait to see what moves GMJR makes.


I'm looking forward to seeing the moves GMJR makes.
 
The Pens have turned into the Steelers. Can't beat the crappy teams. When was the last convincing win? No OT or shootout wins. Eight game losing streak and they looked like *** on National TV to a clearly inferior Hawks team. When does Rutherford trade a big piece to get this team on track before they are out of the PO? Something has to give. I'm just about done with Geno. He can be lazy, tries to go through the whole team to make a play, loses the puck and then takes a penalty because he can't get back into the play.

I think he has whatever Kessel had during the playoffs last year...

Not beating the crappy teams does seem to be a Pittsburgh sports trend. The Pens have 6 ties. Good lord ! If they ha the other six points I think we all would be happier. Good thing the Metro is tight.

I still think they will make they playoffs but one and done. There is still time and I hope GMJR doesn't screw up.

This team really just is a player or two away from being contenders again.
I like Cullen, but the 4th line was humming along just fine with youth.

Whatever funk Malkin is in needs to be addressed. He's been a superstar for his entire career, and I hope he is a Penguins only player.
But if we have to move on and can land some really solid pieces, then so be it.

I completely agree. Cullen is great for the room but not on the ice. He may have a role come the playoffs. Was reading and the last time Malkin was in a funk like this he was hurt. Just an excuse but it's the same funk as Kessel during the playoffs. I want Malkin to retire a Penguin and at the minimum make an effort. Funny thing is as bad as he has been for the last 8-9 games. He is still top 3 on the team for points. I won't cry if he is part of a valued trade package.

As I've said about a hundred times. The only time I get down on the Pens is when the effort isn't there.

Same. The two cup wins mellowed me out.
As long as the effort is there. I'm ok. Although there are some guys I want to be immortalized on the cup.
Oleksiak and ZAR.

But for the most part I think Sid has been doing his role as captain.
Just beat the flyers and or caps in the playoffs and the season is all gravy for me lol.


82 games + playoffs is a a lot as a viewer.
I've tuned in most games after the lockout in 2012.

So I can only imagine how these teams who make deep runs feel.
I don't blame them for being burnt out. Gotta love hockey though.
