2018-19 Penguins and NHL Offseason

Nice to see the old timer and the 4th line contribute last night. Also good to see Horny turning it up. Kessel was good too.

Be interesting to see how they handle these last few games with Murray. Do they give him a couple days rest and get some playing time for Desmith?

The Wings have won five in a row. The problem is we need the points and Detroit will not be as easy as they look. I'd like to get DeSmith in there one game, maybe Thurs, but I wouldn't risk losing valuable points, if need be.
 
Loved the energy from the Pens last night, they tied up the middle with some active sticks and actually hit some skaters. Thing worries me is how many chances in last few games and no goals. Sid is Sid sometimes he needs to let the puck go to the net, still a heck of a player

Love watching Sid play. Not to sound corny, but I do cherish him being a Penguin. Like Mario, I know he will not play forever and that makes me appreciate him more and more as he gets older. His one-handed play against Jordan Staal was great to watch. Just pure power and determination.

The way he shrugged him off, then took on a couple more skaters after.
Sid is something. When he's on a roll, he is crazy dangerous
 
Leafs dumped the Islander and Panthers held on and beat the craps. This should make tomorrow a little more interesting. Finally we get a little help. Now let's take advantage of it. First in the Metro is unlikely but I'd really like that home ice from second.

I watched the Wings yesterday too and thought the same thing. They won't be easy wins the way they are playing.
 
Was listening to NHL Network Radio on my drive in this morning, and they were saying that during the Rangers/Devils game last night, the whole arena broke out into a chant of "We both suck." I had tears in my eyes listening to that, and my sides still hurt from laughing. That has to be a first in sports.
 
TB is going to be a really tough out, even for the Caps & Pens. 60 wins is crazy and if the end up with 62, that ties a record from what they were saying this morning. Even when DET did have 60 wins in 95-96', they didn't win the Cup. They lost to COL. Nothing is a sure thing, as we've seen that show before. I still hope they get bounced before the Pens would have to face them. We don't have the horses to keep up with them in a 7-game series. The PO will be a fun watch once again!

Playoffs can grind a machine to a screeching halt.

They've been pretty amazing this year and we had to use the backup goalie for 6 weeks and kept winning.

Yep, 62 wins will tie them with the 95-96 Wings. This year's playoffs are gonna be fun. I expect the Pens won't make it past round 2, but you never know. If the Pens can't win it all, I would love to see Calgary raise the cup. Reality is, after the Pens, anyone but the damn Caps.

I don't like the match up with the Islanders at all. The Pens played really badly in 3 of the earlier games. No doubt we are a better team than we were in early December but Trotz understands how to control transition against the Pens. Those Kessel high zone turnovers were costly. I'm sure we will approach them differently with our personnel changes.

Tampa is the odds on favorite. Surprising to me Boston has the 3rd best odds after the Flames. So much parity in the NHL once you get past Tampa. I hoping, wishing and praying for the Pens but damn, Tampa has been a consistent machine all year.

Dumo is out for tonight with a lower body. Fortunately he is day to day. I think Letang is still out. Thankfully we have some depth.
 
Dang these young Wings. If I were a Wings fan, I would be excited for the future. This team looks very alive.
