2025 Divisional Round Saturday

When I was younger I had a weird re-occuring dream that Testaverde was a UPS driver and kept delivering me packages......I was not even a huge fan of him

Patrick Mahomes is 15-3 as a starting quarterback in the postseason. Think about that for a second. Then contrast and compare it with what the Steelers have done in the playoffs since 2018. Pretty sad.
We don’t have Mahomes. That is a pretty simple analysis. QB is the real answer not the coach as much.

No but with better coaching and play calling Russ would be good enough to win some of the last few games. The calls led to more three and outs placing more pressure on the D

To an extent. But Reid has done really well with multiple QBs and I don't think every coach can put guys like Brady and Mahomes in position to win the Super Bowl every year. Look at how Reid has adapted as his roster has changed over the years. They do not miss a beat. Outside of Mahomes, KC's best offensive weapon is Kelce, who is probably the slowest skill position player left in the playoffs.

A lot of people did. Unfortunately their defensive coach lost. I love defense but defense can't win in the modern NFL.
The announcers said they had 3 practice squad players playing in secondary, I didn't know they were still that injured. They mentioned it when they had 12 players on the field on D, saying they didn't know who was supposed to be on the field. But Commanders still diced them up, they had players defending on those plays, Daniels was just a surgeon. Now THAT'S a QB.

Reid was a good coach prior to Mahomes, not great but consistent, in some ways similar to Tomlin that way. Mahomes took him from good to great. I think that is almost always the way it works. A good coach has to have a great QB to be a great coach. an average coach becomes good. Kelce isn't Kelce without Mahomes, they have a great two bond. Sort of like Ben and AB had.

But you need both in place. And I certainly wouldn't leave Tomlin in charge of whatever they do get for the long run. He had a top 5 Qb, top 5 running back and top 5 receiver and he got close once. Which is why when Ben was gone he should have been gone. He is in a lame duck situation except instead of having one year left he has three. But there is no way anything in the next three years is going to happen to make the fan base excited about another Tomlin contract. At best they could get a Q of the future in the 2026 draft.

I looked at Reid more like Cowher. Really good in the regular season and could consistently win playoff games, just not get over the hump for a title. I rate him over Belichick now.

Belicheat is nothing without two things, cheating and Brady, maybe three if you include Ernie Adams. Reid has at least won games and made teams look good without a great QB. Hell Tomlin does better than Belicheat when Bill doesn't have Brady one year aside. Belicheat is a fraud.

And he just keeps lumbering and making catches, always open, no matter how much they know they are throwing to him. It's incredible.

Mahomes is not a product of the Refs, they are just as bad in every game, they are just under a microscope with the hate for the current winners. I think almost all star QBs not named Ben get the benefit of the doubt regularly. Ben's crime was being too big and not going down when he got hit. They didn't feel the need to protect him I guess. I like Mahomes and think he is just getting **** on because he is at the top. He is the target.

Knowing how and where to get open and being in synch with the QB can mean as much or more than sheer physical talent. They both have great field awareness and together that makes them very dangerous. Mahomes feels like the modern-day football equivalent of Magic Johnson. He sees the whole field.

Completely true, it's why both are future Hall of Famers. However, Kelce was wide open right off the line multiple times yesterday. I don't know how that happens.

But the rest of us are sure sick of preferential treatment Mahomes gets, enough is enough.

I get it but truly think it is simply a case of our perceptions and biases defining our reality. Would you agree the refs generally are subpar and get multiple calls wrong every game? With that being true, it isn’t hard to watch a game expecting to see bad calls and to feel they lean towards our expected bias. To this day you will find most Seattle fans blame the refs for us winning that Superbowl. Bengals fans have never lost a game they didn’t blame on the refs.

You are correct people analyze every single bad call for the chiefs but forget about the calls they don't get it go against them. No other team has the microscope on them like the Chiefs. I bet if you sat down and analyzed every play from every team for penalties or non- penalties it would pretty much even out

You must be fun at parties.

I mean, if you were ever invited to a party.

I was really hoping the Lions would make a run. Injuries on defense eventually caught up with them. I think they were down four starters last night and lost a DB early in the game. Turning the ball over five times in the playoffs never helps.

They’ll be just as good on O next year with Hutch back on D
I’ll take a flyer on them to win it all

Maybe their coordinators will return just to give it another shot.

When was the last time the Steelers executed a screen pass like the two the Eagles just ran?

When’s the last time the Steelers did anything positively remarkable? Usually anything remarkable that happens in their games is going the wrong way.

This makes zero sense? I guess whining and crying about refs means you are fun? Or watching "fixed" games then crying about it afterwards is fun? I'm confused
