Smoke and mirrors, like always
Don’t forget the endless supply of butter.
Salute the nation
Smoke and mirrors, like always
I'm a new fan, and sometimes not even a real fan. What do I know?
So, I'm watching the Pack and Chiefs. Still waiting to see a 12 men on the field, or a tackle uncovered, or lining up in the neutral zone penalty. It doesn't happen.
Hmmm
With the 17 game season, he'll need 2 more wins, and that maybe a struggle, but you are correct, that is the goal. Not to be a dick, but sometimes I think you guys don't actually believe that the goal REALLY IS 8+ wins.
Not being sarcastic here. Mike knows if he wins 1 more game this year, (which he will) that he's good and his "Hall of Fame" ticket is punched.
He's honest-to-God not TRYING to win every game. Just 1 more.
Nailed itWith the 17 game season, he'll need 2 more wins, and that maybe a struggle, but you are correct, that is the goal.
Let me add, cynical though it may be, he's hanging on to surpass Noll in total wins as a Steeler coach and needs around 30 more, so he's here for another 4 years at a minimum.
The number one thing you have to be able to do at this level is attract and pay quality assistant coaches. All the money is in Mike's pocket and he teaches and is responsible for very little in game. What he is responsible for is not very good. His staff is a bargain bin of nobody's. No one wants to be here because uts a dead end.Its worse than just he can’t teach…
Players regress here…
Claypool was at his Best his first year here
DJ has progressively gotten less effective here
Virtually every DB regresses here…
Oline too…
We make players worse
Dotson is a great example of that.We make players worse

He is still the same player, it is the scheme that has taken away his "splash" plays. We don't let him play Centerfield where he has the opportunity to read and react. I don't know if our players get worse so much as the scheme, formation, play calls don't maximize their talents.I would even look at minkah. His first year he came over and made all kinds of plays. Once he learned the system he has regressed. Now he is still a great player, but i still think we made him worse
Dunbar and Faulkner are good career assistants. If anyone makes a forward move to coordinator or coordinator to HC it will be first as far as I know.I think the last time I looked at the steelers staff I thought there were maybe five or six good guys worth a damn…
I think Grady Brown is probably going to be a DC one day.
I think Karl Dunbar is a fine DL coach
I think you can see how good Eddie Faulkner has been reflecting in the RBs
I really like year 1 of Aaron Curry with ILB
I can’t argue with Denzel Martin OLB
Id like some better TE blocking development from Alfonzo Jackson, but he seems ok too
Im absolutely not sold on Pat Meyers yet..
Same with Frisman Jackson or Mike Sullivan…
Austin can eat a dick
And so can Bubbles..
Not one of the other guys sticks out bad or good for me, but their roles are mostly minute anyway
Exactly. And I'm sure it's well known around the league that when the time comes you will be the scapegoat for Tomlin. That's why no one that's any good(except for Haley=family team connection) wants to coach here. They would have to offer them a whole lot of money and that collides with the Steeler way of being cheap with coaches. It's a lose lose situation till Tomlin packs his bags. The number one thing you have to be able to do at this level is attract and pay quality assistant coaches. I'm sticking to my 9-8 prediction I made in July.Don;t worry, the pattern will still hold. Play great on a national TV game, Tomlin gets praised as one of the greatest coaches of all time. They'll probably beat up on the hapless Pats on Thursday and go right back to thinking everything's fine.
It must've he's still here 14 seasons laterThe only thing left to do is unleash hell.
Watch it unfold Thursday night.
Just like it did the last time Tomlin spoke those words.
It did didn't it?
That could be true. I think bigger piece is no one advances.Exactly. And I'm sure it's well known around the league that when the time comes you will be the scapegoat for Tomlin. Horton did it iirc… to coordinator I mean… and technically Flores did too… though that gets an asterisk… a couple of his assistants ended up as college HC’s… but only Arians became a nfl HC… and he definitely gets an asteriskDunbar and Faulkner are good career assistants. That last sentence needed emphasized so I did it.All I hear is that Tomlin would be hired in seconds if we fired him, teams would fire their current coach to hire him, well then trade him if he's that popular and teams want him that bad.
Unfortunately, what's going to happen is we looked like dogshit yesterday and lost our starting QB, we play a **** schedule with no QB's, so we'll luck out at least 2 wins, back into the playoffs and the national media will be all over Tomlin about how great he's done with this team to get them to the playoffs and some dipshits will actually give him a vote or 2 for coach of the year.
Hell they're talking about getting rid of Belicheat in NE, they've won 2 Super Bowls and lost another since the last time we just won a playoff game.
