It is not a right wing thing unless you believe the left wing propaganda that has tried to claim being a Republican or simply supporting Trump makes you a racist. That is the problem with the left right now it is all about identity politics and vilifying the other side and not truly understanding us.

Thank you! That's all I wanted, an answer without being bashed or made to sound oblivious. And maybe I am to things like that. Maybe I'm a little too Pollyanna, maybe I wish more people were. Didn't think that was a bad thing. I didn't think it was a right wing thing and I never read anything supporting that it was. Then again, I never really looked for that information either. My dad was a republican, and he was the furthest thing from a racist, so I don't look at racism as a political viewpoint. Now my husband's grandmother, a democrat who I would consider as far left as you could go, was as racist as they came, so these 2 scenarios don't fit that mold I suppose. But I appreciate your honest and unbashing answer. It's refreshing.

Tibs I never come down on someone for legitimate reasonable discourse. You for one are fully capable of it but have recently seemed to have gone over the edge. Yes I know we all get up in arms sometimes but we have to stop with the name calling and hate and discuss policy in a civil intelligent manner. You and Tim have slipped into a back and forth of hate that leaves no room to find common ground. Currently it is more of an issue on the left as a whole than on the right as a whole but there are exceptions. I have found very few on the left right now that can have an honest discussion with out becoming irrational and that includes some good friends.

The most hypocritical group of people I've ever come across, the Trump supporters on this board. At least it's good for a laugh, seeing you all prop each other up and try to keep the dream alive. Even the slightest bit of criticism of Trump triggers a full scale meltdown, with immediate attacks against those who dare post it. You finally have a true, bonafide leader to rally around. I appreciate that but to be honest I get pissed and respond in less than civil manner at times. It is hard when you are constantly being vilified by your opposition in very extreme terms and all you see in the media is the extremes with narry a hint of impartiality on either side. I blame the media for most of this divisiveness.

Me too, as I've just done so in this thread. I get pissed off about so many things, like Trump not paying John McCain the respect he deserves, the flag is already back to full mast at the WH, or reading the posts here in the McCain thread that are less then civil to a man who gave a life of service to the country. Or the fact that we have post after post about tightening immigration laws and building a wall after a single woman gets murdered by an illegal, but no comment from Trump when a wackadoo shoots up a bar during a gaming tournament. Cause that guy's brown and an illegal, and this guy's white and he's not. Same thing on this board, illegal alien murders, immediate call for action. White guy murders, radio silence on gun control. I just see so much hypocrisy with everything that Trump does, along with the pro-Trump media at FoxNews and yes, right here on this board.
My post earlier wasn't meant to be an insult to you Lebanon. There are several reasonable conservatives on this board still, you being among them. Unfortunately the same can't be said for a lot of other members here, who seem to love confrontation and take a hostile approach to anything written by liberals. I guess it's two sides of the same coin. That's why I've taken breaks from posting on this board in the past, and am considering doing again, as I get agitated and defensive over things I read here. And that's no way to go through life.

Easy to do with the majority on the board, so it's good to see a voice of reason slip through every now and again. As for getting pissed, it's human nature. I suppose I need to remind myself that can happen on both sides and it's not all about me. Don't get me wrong, there are some I just truly don't give a damn about, but there's seriously like only 4-5 on here that can boil my blood, but I'm sure they're not worth the energy it takes to get angry. Then I remember it's a small forum with only so many posters and how it doesn't effect my real world life. The nice part is you can shut your computer and they disappear, sometimes wish it were that easy with some everyday ******** you meet in person.

The problem is, for all the hypocrisy you see, we see exactly the same from you in down playing the exact things you say are us being hypocritical. The left jumps to wild histrionics on many of those same issues and you stay silent. I might not like Trumps methods but in reality he is just going by the far lefts playbook. He is accomplishing things no politician on the right has had the guts to do. It isn't pretty but if you are truly honest he has done a lot of good things and just is not getting any credit for them from the majority of the media aside form FOX and yes with an ego his size he is going to talk about it. That does not lessen the accomplishments themselves. Seriously the left will oppose everything he does even when it is correct simply because he did it.
Many on the far left(not a majority but a vocal minority) have said that if banning guns would save even one life it is worth it but would totally argue against say if banning immigration would save just one life isn't it worth it? Both are wrong mind you but your total opposition to Trump has left no middle ground We don't discuss policy anymore we cram it down each others throats with no regard for the other sides opinions, congress not Trump is the main culprit in this. Republicans in the past(not recently) have been the party in congress to compromise with the other side. Democrats have long been more stubborn and unified in their opposition and now both side utterly refuse to compromise on any kind of policy issues.
Keep screaming about Trump and nothing will ever get done together.
