before injury

You used the term ulterior motive. To me that implies some sort of conspiracy. I don't think it is that at all. I just think they don't feel they have someone better. Robinson was a 7th for a reason, I would assume mostly due to his lack of LB experience. The pros will exploit that very quickly. This isn't preseason. I just don't see them having a better option. Now, they probably should have a better option, but that is a different discussion. But even with that, you can't address every position in the draft or FA. You gotta take a chance that at some positions the guys you have will improve.
The ulterior motive is I meed to be right and I won't say I'm wrong by removing him. I will pretend he is good enough. He knew where to line up in preseason. He had misses and whiffs. BUT he took his ******* gap. So we could sit here till kingdom come and there just isn't anything that trumps that. One guy who is too small and to weak versus one guy who is too inexperienced. And like I said if it's coverage you want with weak run defense go with Allen.

Problem is that bad injury has had enough time to be past his mind. He may be damaged goods with no return, but it isn't because they haven't given him enough reign. Maybe yesterday was that step needed. Time will tell.

Salute the nation
I agree he's had enough time. I said in another thread I feel like Art or someone motivated the entire team yesterday as if their lives depended on beating TommyBoy. If so, maybe that was enough to get Bush moving. And maybe he found out he can be effective without getting hurt...Either way I was happy to see him step up and I hope he continues.

The ulterior motive is I need to be right and I won't say I'm wrong by removing him. I will pretend he is good enough. He knew where to line up in preseason. He had misses and whiffs. This theory is contingent on Flores not having a say in who plays. Just can't buy what you are cooking here.

When it says Head Coach Brian Flores I will buy what you are cooking. Ultimately, Tomlin is deciding who plays. Period.

He does look like Webster running around in pads out there in the middle, but yesterday was a good performance from him. I hope he takes this and builds his confidence off of it. His angles have been much better as well as his reaction to the ball. He isn’t going to make every play- but I think he is playing good football- not at the level he’s good be at, but better than last year

You think he ignores his positional coaches input? I know the man is the sign off guy sure but I would like to think he takes some advisement.

Ok so if we are going to continue this discussion you need to stream the game again. I watched every defensive snap again. Just a day earlier than usual. I couldn't watch last week because that needed to he burned.
Everyone has this chub because he got a pass defense on the two point to keep the lead. Other than that:
He had a legit stop for two yards on toss. He took his flow gap and the guy cut back and he stopped him.
He covered two tight end vertical seams. One or maybe both could be in the rhelm of being a targeted situation. He covered his hook zone and made two tackles after the catch I believe.
Other than that he blitzed his gap twice got no where near anything, lined up in it and hot trucked back five yards. He got trucked back five yards three times in the game by oline going to the next level. Other than that he is either standing at five yards and a part of the pile or on the other side of the play but still not taking his gap or flow. When the fellows in the secondary come back maybe Edmunds can take his spot. He seems to get through the trash much quicker. Too small, too slow, too indecisive.

I still think Kaz was a plan to move Edmunds closer. Which could lessen the times we see either ILber not named Mack come his return.

I have no idea what Tomlin thinks. I mean he thought they should pass with under a minute left at his 15 with one time out thus needlessly giving up 3 points before half in a four point 10-6 game.

this video has zero to do with yesterdays game or this year. this was Bush before injury. want that guy back.

If Bush played some semblance of Jack yesterday for a 3 out of 5 game stretch I couod see talk of maybe........ but from yesterday even the the thought of bringing him back is utterly laughable.

It's been two ****** years dude. He ain't coming back. If he was it was gonna be this season. And if he ever does it won't be in Pittsburgh cause they would have to be the village idiot to sign that guy.

I do not have NFL caliber coaching talent like some of you guys, but even I can see he is playing better this year than last

Aw, bullshiit. Just like Robinson was a 7th rounder for a reason, Bush was a high first for a reason. The Steelers are taking the chance that guy shows up. No more, no less. And I am not arguing with your assessment of Bush. I am arguing the reason he isn't being removed. You think it is something other than they just don't have anybody better. I disagree. I think it is exactly that...they don't have anyone better at this time.

He was a high first for a reason until he stopped playing like that. Next year he will be a high first looking for a team. He will get a look and nless his entire game overhauls either back up for a year or on the street. So tell me what is the difference between Devin Bush and 50 guys at that level who are on the street now.

And you see that how? He has more tackles this year. At 6 to 7 yards.
He is around the ball more. Tackles are secondary. He isn't over running as many plays.
He is simply playing better.

Not great. But better.

Not as good as his rookie year

That two point knock down attempt was a solid timely play. I am hoping for more plays like that...

He is a goddamn ILB. You are saying tackles are secondary. That is like saying passing is secondary to a QB.
If you ask ANY defense coach what do you need in a Mack or ILB.
1. Take his gap with anticipation, power, sheding blocks and fearlessness.
2. Sound tackling.
3. Coverage.

look upward at one of your posts regarding tackles " And you see that how? He has more tackles this year. At 6 to 7 yards" That was you.

Tackles are secondary for a guy that plays 85% of his time in the middle. I would prefer catches not made around him. Bush having more tackles doesnt equal great play. at least not in the passing game.

I might be wrong. probably am, but my guess is you and I have made the exact same $$$ coaching NFL systems. you dribble is the same as my dribble. we watch the game and come on hear and post our thoughts. you just seem to think you know more than people that actually do it for a living.

could it possibly be that Tomlin. Austin and the crew have a different perspective on Bushes play? could that perspective be a bit better than yours or mine?

When Devin Bush is playing next year where he is or not playing tell me about the infallibility of Mike Tomlin's super awesome decision making. While your at it check out the last 45 seconds or so in the first half yesterday.

When you make $1.00 more than me from coaching in the NFL, I will.
