before injury

When you make $1.00 more than me from coaching in the NFL, I will.
Quick question champ. What is your opinion of Tomlin's retention of Matt Canada? Was that a great idea in your opinion? I mean they are 28th in run, pass and scoring.

didnt like it last year. dont like it this year. From my couch on Sundays, it doesn't look like he is a good fit for the NFL. what does it look from the sidelines you walk on Sundays?

I'm not saying I'm qualified to take an NFL coaching position. I wouldn't be qualified for the lowest level football related jobs with an organization. But I can tell you I'm more than qualified to have an opinion about Devin Bush's play. In fact in about 10 months I'm almost certain I will be proven correct.
As you say with Canada it doesn't take 6-10 million a year to say he is not the right guy for that job. Why does it take that for Devin Bush.

We all have our opinions. Bit they are not facts

Thing is the majority doesn't think Bush is where he was in his rookie year. Not even close. So why would his departure shock anyone? I get you are high on your opinion but you aren't exactly Nostradamus here.

His play improved statements aren't exactly posters endorsements on his future.

I will tell you being coverage capable gives him a chance at another contract. But the Steelers could go for an upgrade or sign him to a 1 year deal. I would roll the dice on those two options.

He plays MLB in a 3-4 scheme and doesn't make tackles. That's enough for me. He likely will not be in the league next year.

He will be in the league somewhere. He has that 1st round pedigree. Someone will take a chance that they can tap into that potential, whatever is left. Maybe as a 4-3 outside backer?

But I guarandamnteeyou he will be in the league somewhere.

I doubt it, you think he would be the only first round talent to flame out of the league in a couple of seasons ? Especially after a injury. Dude sucks, you can't hid what he has put on film. I don't doubt someone will sign him but his play on the field will cost him his job. He is Jarvis 2.0.

Undoubtedly he will get a chance to be in the league next year. Unless it's the Steelers who seem blind to his play he will get a training camp. If he does what he has he will either he back fill practice squad or on the street. He sucks. It's Jarvis Jones all over again. He went to the Cardinals I believe for a year. But frankly as much criticism as I had for that guy I had more respect for him.

Jarvis got a look with the Cardinals. I thought it was injury that ended his career...his neck issuer, bit I could be wrong. But he got a look elsewhere, which Bush will get as well. That is my only point. I am not arguing whether or not he deserves one, or his talent or lack thereof as a player. I am just saying as a high #1 pick someone else is going to give him a look.

Why?

Because his physical limitations were put on display for the Steelers at the combine and they still chose him. Plenty of teams had a second round grade on him. I think he played as hard as he could and he was what he was. No player including Bush is responsible for where they draft him. But Bush had all the skills to be an excellent player. He lost his jam. Now you can blame the injury but they do those great now. His knee should be every bit as good or better. It's his indecisive play that kills him.

jarvis at least tried hard, how many times we saw bush jogging or half assing it?
So Geno would be a good LB?

At no time was that sentiment ever uttered when Jarvis was here. Stop rewriting history. I don't recall any poster here having "respect" for Jarvis Jones. We all were ready to run him out of town.

Bringing up Jarvis Jones is stupid anyway. One situation has nothing to do with the other.

You can bring up JJ because we reached in the first round again for a guy that has proven not to be worth the place he was chosen. And we will stick with him longer than we should based solely on his draft position not by his performance on the field. So the 2 players are similar in the circumstances. And the both have way under performed.

There is a direct link between the two players. Even a simple can see that. Failed first rounders with Tomlin hanging on. At least he had the balls to bring back Harrison in Uncle Jarvis' last season. But the reasons for their busts were very different. But I contend that Jones just wasn't good enough but gave his best. Bush could ve a hell of a weekend aerial flag football player.

is it as stupid as bringing Geno to the conversation tho? Yet no one call your point of debate stupid. Why the aggressive attitude? I'm not rewritting anything, there are at least 3 posters here already including me thaat think Jarvis is a fair point of comparison, also we are agreeing that he at least tried. Bush has definitely been playing scared of contact, at least until last sunday. If you check my previews posts in this thread you'll see I have hope for him, yet you think I'm bashing him for telling he has shown half the heart of Jarvis.

No, I am bashing the idea that anybody here said anything like, "Jarvis Jones can't play, but he has heart!" Not once did I read anything on here of the like. It is revisionist history to say otherwise. But in the end it just doesn't matter, because Jarvis Jones has nothing to do with Devin Bush. That is all I am bashing, the comparison.

I would say comparing the players that your point has merit. Tomlin's handling is directly on point. And that is the heart of it. Bush could flop on the ground and do the worm at the snap. It's how Tomlin responds that sets the tone for the team. Are you going to live with a linebacker that refuses to take a gap in a gap cancel defense.

I get that. I am not defending the play of Devin Bush. I just don't think there is a viable option behind Devin Bush presently. The Robinson kid, he may be something at some point. But he is relatively new to the position. Teams will exploit that. How do you handle that? We say, "Well, let him play. I can handle his screwups if he is aggressive." Maybe, and I emphasize maybe. I don't see fans having a lot of patience because he is a rookie and inexperienced. And also, do you put a kid out there who isn't ready? What if it does go poorly and the kid has some bad plays because of the inexperience? Do you take a risk and possibly destroy the player's confidence because he isn't ready?
