Bell - No Structural Damage

That's great news pertaining to the Steelers' star walking back.

Seriously, Bell's NOT playing Saturday. People need to accept that.

He probably would not be ready against the Broncos, if they were to advance.

Hyper extensions almost always take a least three weeks to heal.

Sure and if you are going to press a RB into coming back early which would be the more likely scenario... with no rest vs the Ravens, who are known to bounty and target injuries, or the Broncos on a weeks rest?

Not the lower grade sprains, and he had no structural damage.

But, he did have a bone bruise. I've had them before and let me tell you, one good hit on that m'fer and you are feeling it for the rest of the night; pain that makes you limp and favor the leg. I like Tomlin's approach of we'll prepare as if he isn't available. They can always alter the game plan (adjustments) if he's available for spot duty on game day. And to be clear, I would only use him in an emergency/spot duty type of situation.

difference is the players get the best professional treatment

and what takes one person two weeks to heal could take the next person one week to heal

and then there is the severity of the injury

all that said I would be slightly shocked th see Bell play this week....................

I think he plays, but shares time with Tate and Harris.

He's not playing, or, he might try, and have to quit as he tried to come back when he wasn't ready.

Here's the question, and I think Tomlin answered it: Does a Bell who is only 50% offer you more than a 100% Harris, Tate and Archer combo? What about 60, 70 or 80%? To be honest, I think 70% - 80% is unlikely this week. So, imho, you sit him this week and do your best to come up with a game plan that gives you a good chance to win. My hope though is that they don't go to the old screen, screen, screen game plan.

If he is already walking without a limp it won't be his knee stopping him from playing. Even the slightest stretching of the ACL would cause a limp for longer than three days. I honestly would be more worried about his head right now. i can assure you from personal experience that knee problems affect the mind way longer than they do the body.
I have had shoulder surgery, ankle surgery, and knee surgery, the latest being knee replacement. Every time I had my knee operated on it took me five times longer to get my head wrapped around it than it did to actually recover, I had no such issues with the shoulder or ankle.

I would be surprised if he played, but the fact he was on a bike yesterday pedaling like crazy, and
today walking around with no limp or crutches is a very good sign that they think there is no possibility of him further injuring it right now either.
I was playing indoor soccer on a gym floor and rolled my ankle so bad that the ankle bone on the outside of my foot touched the floor with all my weight on it, scared the hell out of me, had a limp for a couple days, bruised all around it, but I was able to run fine on it in less than a week. Yeah I know huge difference, but the fact he's not limping on a knee injury is huge, sometimes injuries hurt like hell and scare the hell out of you and turn out to be not to bad.

Le'Veon calls himself a 'maybe'
December 31, 2014 09:26 PM | Mike Prisuta

Le'Veon's a "maybe" for the game vs. the Ravens.

The Steelers' running back and team MVP didn't practice today, but he said he felt better than he had on Monday or Tuesday and much better than he had in the immediate aftermath of suffering a hyper-extended right knee in Sunday night's 27-17 victory over Cincinnati.

"I'm just going to continue to take it day by day," Bell said. "We'll see how it goes.

"I just did little things in the training room, tried to test it a little bit, see how it was. I feel really good. I didn't expect to be feeling this well this early. But I am, so I'm just going to take it day by day and see where it goes.

"It's sore, obviously, from Sunday. I'm just going to continue to do what I can, try to progress it when I can, and if I can and see what I can do tomorrow. I rode the bike (today), I ran a little bit. That's about it, little therapy things. I'm going to try to do more tomorrow."

Bell didn't want to estimate his potential availability for Saturday night's playoff game against Baltimore.

"I can't put a percentage on it," he said. "I just know, right now, if I had to practice, today I couldn't practice. I don't want to put any percentages on it. I'm not sure what the percentage is. When I feel good enough, I'm going to play."

Bell's progress to this point has taken a load off his mind.

"When it happened so many thoughts went in my head," he said. "I know how I felt at the time. It was scary. It was more so scary than anything. I was just glad when I got the MRI back that there weren't any significant tears or anything. I was just grateful my knee was OK."

As for the hit by Cincinnati safety Reggie Nelson that knocked Bell out of Sunday night's game, "It was a legal hit," Bell said. "It's football. It's a dangerous sport. He got me down the way he could, so that's that."

Don't expect to see much if anything from Tate. The game is three days a way and he has yet to practice.

yeah, but soccer is a ***** sport played by *******. *****.

IMO---I think Bell dresses...but wont play much...

If he does...it will be mainly used to pick up the blitz when we go 4 wide...

I would like to see Johnson get some plays in the running game though...

Even if everyone in the building knew he was playing Saturday the coaches would instruct him to be vague about whether he's playing or not and not give anything at all away before they have to.

Don't expect to see much if anything from Tate. The game is three days a way and he has yet to practice.

I'm confident that the RB position has more to do with vision and ability than Xs and Os. Tate is a journeyman veteran, both he and the rest of the offense know enough common football terminology to bring him up to speed by Saturday. He won't have the entire playbook memorized or anything, but he'll know enough to have a fair idea what his job is on every play. As long as he understands the signal calling and has a general idea which way the play is going, after that 99% of plays don't unfold exactly the way they are written in the playbook anyway, and that's where the runner's instincts take over.

Bell is NOT going to play.

Mike Tomlin is not going to be a Shannahan and cave to pressure from the owner, player or fans.

We can and will win this game for Bell.

See sometimes the injury looks worse than it is too... I tend to forget the long list of guys I thought were done for the season and were back in in a few plays or a game... so in a best case scenario it would be that....

but not so much on pass protections and routes, which are far more key than the 2 yard carries he will get.

Le'Veon Bell hoping to face Ravens
Scott Brown [ARCHIVE]

ESPN.com | December 31, 2014

PITTSBURGH -- Steelers running back Le'Veon Bell is hoping to play in his first postseason game less than a week after his career flashed in front of his eyes.

Bell did not practice Wednesday but he said he did some light jogging and rode a stationary bike as he works his way back from a hyperextended right knee.

Bell Is Steelers' Running Attack
Le'Veon Bell has accounted for 77.7 percent of his team's rush yards this season, the second-highest percentage in the NFL.

Bell is questionable at best to play Saturday night in an AFC wild-card game against the visiting Baltimore Ravens but the second-year man is walking without a limp.

"My leg feels great," said Bell, who left the Steelers' 27-17 win over the Cincinnati Bengals last Sunday night after taking a helmet shot on his knee. "It feels good to be able to move around and not think about it much."

Bell said the key to playing against the Ravens is getting his knee strong enough so he isn't thinking about it when he is on the field.

"I don't want to play fearing my knee getting hurt," said Bell, who led the AFC with 1,361 rushing yards this season. "It's not an injury like an MCL where you go out there and play and it gets worse. That doctors have told me that's not what it is, that it's not something that can get worse if do play so that's a good thing to hear. If I feel ready I'm definitely going to try to get on the field and play."

Coach Mike Tomlin has said the Steelers won't rush Bell back from the injury that did not leave the 6-foot-1, 225-pounder with any ligament or structural damage. Bell has to show the Steelers that he is able to protect himself, Tomlin said, before the eighth-year coach allows him to return to action.

The Steelers signed fourth-year veteran Ben Tate as running back insurance Tuesday. Rookie Josh Harris, who had been on the Steelers' practice squad until getting signed to the 53-man roster last month, is in line to start Saturday night if Bell doesn't play against the Ravens.

Bell said Harris, who had a 59-yard run against the Bengals negated by a holding penalty, is ready if the Steelers need the undrafted rookie to anchor the ground game.

But Bell also said not to count him out as far as playing in the Steelers' first postseason game since 2011.

"I didn't expect to be feeling this well this early," Bell said after the Steelers' first practice of the week. "When [the injury] happened so many thoughts went through my head. It was scary. It was more scary than anything. I feel great. If I can do more [Thursday] I'm going to try."

I predict that he plays. Sounds like they just need to shoot him up.

There are more flops in soccer than there is in the NBA. Plus there miracle magic spray. C'mon Man!

... ***** ...

I wanna see any of you old ***** trying to run a football field (100 meters) for 45 minutes without a timeout every few minutes. Also some hits are really nasty, it really isn't a ***** sport, like baseball for example
