Bring on the ravens

Yeah we lost four in a row, but you know how the old saying goes..,

The third time is the charm!

That was Stewey talking.

Not a damn thing. I have zero optimism. I'm just trying not to be a Debbie Downer until atleast Saturday night.
Madden must be saving his Home Run, daisy cutter column for next week on the outside chance Tomlin uglies this next one up enough to steal a playoff win.

Gameplan?
They had 10 days after the loss to the Champs and decided to play the Bengals like they were the '99 Rams or Air Coryell.

So, your saying another extension is forthcoming?
Along with death and taxes, yes. Just depends on how many generations of future Tomlins Mike wants to set up.

Ironically, if the Jets take Arthur Smith, does that mean Tomlin has a Coaching Tree? If they take him with 5 straight losses to end the year that's got to be an asterisk lol.

The game planning and personnel decision making and game adjustments will dictate the outcome.

1. Williams and Warren should get heavy reps yes that means starting.
The one thing I will say Slash….In my way of thinking I hope Warren and Naj do not get heavy running reps. Ravens have close to the #1 ranked rushing D and close to bottom ranked passing D. They will stack the box. Hopefully Wilson will be accurate, but I’m hoping for play action after play action in the first half. 80% pass plays. I’m certainly not talking about moon ball after moon ball. Or those one yard passes. Those 5-10 yard quick hitters. Use our RB’s in the pass game. Send our WR’s deep for decoy and use the underneath for our TE’s. Including Mount Washington. God forbid maybe a few slants. God forbid maybe using the middle. With hopeful success, this will open up our run game as well.
Williams is a big possession receiver. They could use him nonstop. I just don’t understand why they haven’t thrown him the ball more.

For me the greatest coached game plan ive ever seen for the Steelers was the Indy playoff game. Nobody gave us a chance against the mighty Manning. Every person thought we would run, run, and run again to keep Manning off the field. Ben came with pass after pass.
Cheers.

True it can’t be attacking their strength.

Good point heavy short game.

Problem is, that was a different coach and a different quarterback.

Cowher evolved and showed growth after so many tight game plans of the past and the regular season beatdown in Indy that regular season.

On the first play...a run up the middle. Thats when your downer feelings will really kick in.

That's when I go from the seated position leaning forward in anticipation, to the reclined position with arms crossed chin down.

I'm glad I don't drink,it would get expensive.

No, like Bruce Arians, Smith established himself and his scheme/philosophy prior to joining the Steelers.

If they schedule this for Saturday evening gonna be first playoff game I miss since '93. Great comic I've got tickets for. I've decided I'd be more angry to miss that to watch the Steelers get curb stomped then I wouod be yo go and miss a win. And almost certainly they are putting that prime time Saturday.
Better than missing Thursday nights game! 😁

It certainly was Top.
But you know as well as I,Bill was know as a very conservative coach. More than one person on this site (including me) wanted more than run,run and run again. He opened it up for this game,it was unexpected and it worked. For me,it was the best coached game in his career.

I’d love to see CMT take a page out of this game. Maybe Russ has something left?
The big difference will be weather of course. That was a Dome game. Pass, pass and more pass might be a disaster outside.
Wilson was 21-28 for 270 against Cleveland in the snow. He had a good game.

Could have one branch with Smith. It’s a wait and see.
The broken branches represent former Tomlin hires who have gone by the wayside.

The game planning and personnel decision making and game adjustments will dictate the outcome.

1. Williams and Warren should get heavy reps yes that means starting.

2. Fields should be in there in any 3 and 1s or 4th and 1s.

3. No 4th and ones should be attempted on the Steelers side of the field.

4. Wilson should be given the directive of 1 2 read then rollout and dump off.

5. TJ should be moved around. Pass rushers need to be rotated in regularly opposite TJ.

6. They should focus in on Andrew’s - a S cheated toward him , pressuring LJ and being run gap sound.

7. They should utilize both TEs in the passing game.

8. Chip their best pass rusher every passing down.

9. Mix up the coverages on D. I would move Kazee deep and Minkah in closer in this matchup.

10 Expect the opposite of all 9. Because they will be right even if it is wrong.
I like this. All of it.
We have to feed Jaylen the ball, Get him in space. Najee running into the pile for 30 yards 3 yards at a time isn't gonna win any playoff games. If we can't run the ball and win the TOP its gonna be a blowout. Even if we can establish a run we will still need a few turnovers/ lucky breaks.
The first game against the raven was one of the luckiest games I have ever seen. Penalty and TO wise. We are gonna need every bit of the same.

Everyone says we are a good matchup for the Ravens. We have there number etc
We were a better matchup against the Ravens when we had a #2 WR and they didn't have the second best RB in the league.
Henry is averaging 6ypc for the season and just put nearly 170 on us. Guy has more 100YD games this season than Harris in his 68 game career.

Say what you want about Lamar, guy is playing MVP level football. Lights out.
5000+ total yards 45 TD to 4 INT, nearly 1000 yards rushing.
One of the single best seasons all time for a QB, Its under the radar for one reason, the media loves Josh Allen.
Lamar doesn't even have a Top 5 WR.
The disrespect for the MVP is real.

Look at it this way
This is the Ravens Game to Lose,
Would be one of the biggest choke jobs ever. Right up there with Tomlin losing to Bortles with the Killer B's and Ben throwing for nearly 500 and 5TD.
They have all the pressure to win, we are expected to lose. Win this one and all the games get easier.

We have become the Browns/ Bengals because Saturday is our superbowl.
The chance to play spoiler is about all we can hope for.
