CBS Sports predicting Russell Wilson to sign with Steelers

They'd better jump on that. He really tore it up in Chicago. I'm shocked they're letting him go.

🤠🤥

He's getting 30 mills from Denver next season so it could be an opportunity to get out of this mess

There isn't a proven QB on the roster. KP doesn't look like he's the one yet. Not even mentioning the rest.

No QB continue to be 2nd place for another 7 years or whatever it's been

I could do that if I was Tomlin/Khan. I doubt Wilson would go along with the way I'd do it though.
Make it clear Wilson will be competing with KP for the starting job.
Sign Wilson, means forget about Rudolph coming back, and cut Trubisky

Nothing guaranteed.
2024 Base salary $5m and he competes with KP for the starting job. Gives him the year to prove he's still got it.
2025 Base Salary $42.5m; approx $2.3m per week gives him incentive not to take it easy and is an easy cut if his performance declines;
2026 Base salary $42.5m; Ditto 2025 situation.

He can therefore be cut at any time with no dead money, if he proves to be closer to another Trusbisky than a short-term Ben replacement.
Heck to the NO! I'd much rather they get Fields if they feel they need to trade for a QB especially if he can be had for a 3rd round pick.
The scenario in the article is based on Denver cutting Wilson, and the Steelers picking him up as a free agent, not the Steelers trading for him (the article includes him as a cut candidate, not a trade candidate).

Isn't Wilson getting paid by Denver next season
No cost to new team

Not sure why all the experts here are quick to say NO to a proven champ, Christian, gentleman who won't be getting barricaded in bar bathrooms with his LT guarding the door.

The question is whether he wants to come here and help bring this franchise out of the gutter. I mean what's it going to take for people to realize things next year could be beyond ugly

Sign a proven pro, draft a QB if it makes sense, camp competition and let's go!

This sounds like a great way to expedite ourselves off to cap hell as we have other youngsters coming up for contracts AND getting the benefit of a washed up QB. Maybe he will succeed again somewhere but I sure hope he explores that option somewhere else.

You got that right, the fallacy of him working for near free are insane. He will get his cash from Denver and probably call his career a quit.

Cap hell would be the second biggest problem, the on field play would be the worse….. setting us back another 2-3 years.

Salute the nation

I don't think anyone is against signing a proven pro QB. I also don't think his religion will matter on the football field unless God himself is going to come down and play for him; which he didn't do in Denver.

The gutter. That's where he kept Denver with his "below the line" play the last two years. Sure, he had a little mini-revival in the middle of this season. However, his play only made a jump from totally washed up to "Baker Mayfield". That type of play, while above what we've seen from KP8 for the most part, isn't going to make things prettier around here.

I sure as hell hope Omar/Tomlin don't drink that particular Kool-Aid. It's too sweet.

God has some concerns about going to Denver, he heard something about Joey Sr getting shot in Denver.

Now Wilson the person I like, the quarterback he used to be is long gone.

Here let's add to this joke 🤣
This will let you know how clueless some media people are

"We say all of that to ask ourselves what teams would willingly sign up for this reclamation project. Would Wilson compete for a starting job with Daniel Jones in New York? Would the iron fist of Mike Tomlin cover up the more difficult aspects of Wilson’s personality? "

Kap was banned and paid years ago but he stays in shape. Not a bad idea to get him in for workout
LOL...if people lost their crap over Tomlin's shirt imagine what the poster boy for that stuff would do to them...yeah not in a million years. Dude brought too much fire to the league he's as blacklisted as it gets, and he's not that good anyway.
