Claypool to Chicago for 2nd Rounder

Stop trying to be cute and get back to the brand that sets you apart from others. You'll probably have to let go of all of the soft ones.

IMO, players who fit the mold:

Watt, Pickett, Heyward I, Minkah, Sutton, Moore Jr. [at G], Freiermuth, Chuks, Jack. The rest are on the bubble.

I'm hoping the DC as well, then Flores takes over the Defense with a strong showing and Coach Tomlin whispers into his ear to stay one more year because he's retiring.

I would interview every person under the sun worth interviewing for HC of the Pittsburgh Steelers. It would be absolutely foolish to just hand it over considering how little they change head coaches.

It'll be interesting to see how things play out. I think the front office is banking on Aaron Rodgers carrying the Packers to some wins. The Packers also already have a head-to-head win over Chicago. It could be close, though. Fields is beginning to play a little better and Green Bay has lost four in a row compared to four of five for the Bears. If nothing else, it gives us a couple of other teams to keep an eye on.

Remaining schedule (bold is over .500)

Bears: Dolphins, Lions, Falcons, Jets, Packers, Eagles, Bills, Lions, Vikings
Packers: Lions, Cowboys, Titans, Eagles, Bears, Rams, Dolphins, Vikings, Lions
If Chicago ends up with a better record by a game or two, we'll never know that if Claypool went to Green Bay the Rodgers Claypool tandem would of reversed things. In other words, it was a crapshoot.

The Packers made aggressive attempts to acquire Pittsburgh Steelers receiver Chase Claypool as well as Las Vegas Raiders tight end Darren Waller, league sources told ESPN. Green Bay offered two draft picks -- its second-round pick and another late-round pick -- to Pittsburgh for Claypool, according to sources.
I’m wondering if the Packers might have had the better offer given today’s results.

…so you’re wondering who is going to use him properly

I wonder if part of the decision was that they didn't want Claypool going to the packers and putting up big numbers, further illustrating the inept steeler offensive coaching.

If Claypool drives towards the ball instead of waiting for it to come to him (his worst MO in my opinion), that isn't even close to PO. He is soft, he is Claypuff. He wasn't close to being a difference maker in that game.

Nothing new to see here. Typical Claypool effort. Falling away from the ball. Ball hits both of his hands and he drops it. How many times have we seen this. Now Bears fans will have to see it weekly.

I fully agree, you can't find out what you have (or don't have) if you don't bring potential people in. I don't want a "player's coach" as I want a FOOTBALL COACH who the player respect.

Cowher was a football coah that players respected but football first.

A coach that knows Xs & Os as well as able to evaluate talent and personel in the coaching ranks.

EXACTLY, no one here can tell us today what will be the end result.

Many here can ***** about the end result should it not be in the STEELERS favor and I fully expect that to happen should that be the case.

I'm not one to defend Claypool, but the DB had both arms around Claypool's waist pulling him backwards. How that wasn't PI, I'll never know.

It’s the logical pick. GB should be a better team than the Bears. But the Bears went toe-to-toe with the Phins while GB got beat by the lions. I think if the Packers throw in their 5th and 6th to fill those gaps in the 2023 draft I would have jumped on their trade. I feel they probably only threw in a 7th or something of very little value.

Probably was PI.

I agree it was PI, but still Claypool didn't have the best hand placement to get that jump ball

Claypool would never have gotten the PI call in Pittsburgh. One drop out of three passes seems to ring a bell

I was thinking about Tomlin’s statement yesterday about Claypool/Freiermuth basically playing the same role. I really liked the idea of a big bodied slot receiver like Claypool in the slot. I think a better offensive coordinator would’ve found a better way to exploit the mismatches that both he and Muth presents to a defense. This was never the case-of course Claypool played smaller than his body and really wasn’t too much to worry about. I hope the Steelers took note of how Steichen of the Eagles used AJ Brown and would think to now use Pickens/Boykin in the same manner.

Absolutely correct in your hopes of usage but remember it is O'Canada and he wasn't able to find a place for CA3 had he been available.

I like it too Shane. The only problem is every time we drop a stud big bodied WR into the slot, their production tanks. JuJu before and Claypool this year. Sure they can make tough catches, but we don't target them often enough.

Our most productive slot WRs were shifty and quick. Randle El is the last great one we had. Other than Sanders. Eli had some moments. Slippery quick twitch guys tend to do the best in the slot on our team. Sims is probably the quickest we have. Boykin has excellent COD as well (#3 in his draft in the 3 cone for WRs). I'm interested to see the direction we take this week.

He didn't high point the ball, again, it was at chest's height when he made contact.

Thats frustrating about his technique. He jumps, but the ball is then chest-high. He didn't have to jump, or he jumped too late.

Lmao
Was gonna say almost the exact same thing

Exploring mismatches is still several levels away from the operating level of Canada, I’d settle for installation of audibles and a legit hurry up offense…sadly also several levels above 🇨🇦

His offense greatly resembles my first flag football coach’s only our athletes aren’t significantly better than the opposition to make the absolute crap work

You guys remember the Seinfeld episode where Kramer starts working for a big company and his reports made no sense? That's canada in a vacuum.
