Today's edition of The Newspaper Whose Name We Dare Not Speak reports Skippy Reed is the kicking coach at Steelers Fantasy Camp. Among other fantasies, Skippy wants to do a comeback and be back in the NFL. I suppose that would be easier for a kicker, but I don't know.....
Skippy last played for the 49'ers in 2010.

If Skippy took care of himself and was not a drunken fool for the majority of career then he would still have a job. Honestly, he was as talented as David Akers but did not take care of himself when it mattered.

I heard an interview with him here in NC, where he praised the Rooney family, and also explained how his incident with the paper towel dispenser was a 'misunderstanding'. He spoke a bit about the off the field issues w Ben as well, but not in a negative context.

hey, you can't hang around for ever, specially if the paper towel dispenser(s) are beating yaz ***!!!!!

He was good for awhile, but then something went to his head (drug/alcohol/nfl)

Agree, Skippy was very good for a long time but just lost his mojo in his last season here.

When you have possibly the best job in the world, you simply put up your numbers, keep your mouth shut and stay out of trouble. If you have the numbers, and they don't want to pay, you will get offers. You can only play your way out of the position. Very few injuries. He wouldn't shut up about the money, put pressure on himself and sucked. Got one more chance, blew it and is done. Should still be playing for sure. I liked him. Thought he was pretty clutch up until the last season.

Dude can **** off after the Bears and Bengals losses in 2009.

I'm hearing yaz. Do you remember when he had that spike like hair dew thing going on? I have a friend with the same color hair and I use to call him
our insane kicker :) was funny as hell !!! lol Reed did supply us with a few memories, such as his open field tackle (just got out of the way). Not like Norm
Johnson, he use to NAIL em

Always hated him. didn't want to be touched. I can't remember which game specifically (though there were several) where Reed was the last man standing on a kickoff return and just said "**** it" and threw himself to the ground untouched.

Best part about Swishy. He's not afraid to stick his neck in there and tackle a guy.
