College Football Playoff Thread

DC Tom Allen is leaving for Clemson. I'm thinking he was told he wouldn't be back. he was fine but may not have been a fit. He's old school and could not figure out the radio to send in plays. Assistant Dan Connor had to signal in the plays for him.
They were not expecting Tom Allen to leave.

Anyone else wish that the National Championship Game was tonight instead of Monday night?

I’m old a frugal and need televised entertainment on Friday and Saturday night. Now I have to look for a movie to stream.
Since he just died yesterday, watch a David Lynch movie.

So, who ya got tonight?

I’m picking Ohio State, but will not be surprised if Notre Dame somehow pulls it off. Both teams are good teams, and Texas gave ND a road map to slow down OSU’s offense. Just not sure if they can slow it down the way Texas did. But I’m also not very good at predicting things so there’s that. Also, I have no dog in the fight so in the end, I really don’t care who wins.

OSU 33

ND 28

I would prefer to see Notre Dame win. I don’t think they will, but that’s why they play the game. I kinda hope viewership sucks a$$ since the game is only on ESPN.

I figure ND fans will view my pick as sour grapes, but make note that I hate Ohio State.

I can't see ND winning this game. Their offense is not good.

I was surprised how easily Penn State dominated their rush defense. Penn State's OL is a lot better than Ohio State's but Chip Kelly is a great run designer. I think they will be able to do some of the same things Penn State did on the ground and Howard can do more RPO than Allar.

ND plays a ton of man coverage. That worked against Indiana, who could not block ND, and Georgia, who had a backup QB and WRs dropping balls, and against Penn State whose WRs could not get open at all. (On a side note, that final INT by Allar was on the WR. He ran a lazy route and Allar threw it where he should have then took the blame in the presser).

ND will play man against Ohio State's WRs who are both likely 1st round draft picks. Their secondary will challenge them but I doubt they can shut them out like they did Penn State's JV squad of WRs. The only hope is Ohio State's patchwork OL has trouble picking up all the blitzes and stunts and Howard gets rattled.

I think there's a chance ND gets shutout. They have to run the ball to win and their OL is injured.

Ohio State's defense is outstanding and has no real weakness. ND has no threats at WR. Penn State had a great plan to take away the QB power run of Riley Leonard using their safeties. Ohio State can replicate this plan or just use a LB to spy. Leonard is not outrunning their LBs.

ND is tough and i do think they'll get a few scores but not many. The only way i see ND winning is if Will Howard throws multiple INTs and ND gets a defensive or special teams score.

Ohio State 24 Notre Dame 6

I expect the Buckeyes to kick the **** out of them! Attack on both sides of the ball and don't let up even when it's a blowout and all the backups get to play!

These are my 2 least liked college football teams, but I do like NDs coach so I guess I will pull for them.

10 minute opening drive. That’s a statement.

How can you play ND and not have an answer for QB power? It's like half their playbook. It didn't look like OSU did anything at all to stop it, just played it like a normal run, but it's not. You have an extra blocker. Leonard ran it 9 times. He'll have 30 rushes until you stop it. That's head scratching.

I think Dane Brugler has us taking Emeka Egbuka in the 1st round.

edit: Brugler has us taking Hairston CB from Kentucky. Some other major mock I saw of late.
