United Airlines staff who are granted religious exemptions to vaccine mandate will be put on unpaid leave
United will give employees whose request for an exemption is denied will have five weeks to get vaccinated or face termination.
The mandate is on shaky legal grounds for the simple reason that while legislatures can pass laws governing health and safety, Biden's executive order is not a law. Therefore, the Supreme Court decisions holding that state and Federal governments can order students to be vaccinated, for example, have no application to an executive order.
Further, health and safety issues are genuinely matters of state interest, subject to the 10th amendment. The Fed can mandate that, subject to certain exceptions for religion or other medical reasons, its employees get a vaccine, but that does not apply to anybody other than Federal employees.
Finally, even laws cannot be arbitrary. The 100 employee limit, excusing the postal service from compliance, etc. portray this as a bizarre, ill-conceived, off-handed order from somebody who seems almost demented.

The 100 employer thing is an osha regulation for their standards. That’s why I think he is using it. Those under 100 are exempt from many standards and those under (I think ) ten do not apply at all or at least very little.
Right, I get that, but most workplace safety regulations place a cost on the employer so the regulations have an employer limit so that small employers are not shackled with the cost.
That analysis does NOT apply to vaccinations of employees - which are free - or to addressing a contagious virus, which has no relationship to the number of employees. That makes the order completely arbitrary, not to mention the nonsensical decision to inexplicably exempt arguably the largest civilian workforce in the nation, the Postal Service.

Just so you people know the vaccine isn’t a vaccine it’s an experimental gene therapy. It doesn’t stop you from getting the virus it doesn’t stop you from transmitting the virus. Israel reports 95% vaccination rate and most of its new virus cases are among people who have received the vaccination this tells us that the vaccine is not effective. The Wuhan virus is a variant of the common cold which mutates so fast that we cannot develop a vaccine for it. If you are not over 70 years old and you do not have significant comorbidities or a body mass number over 35 the virus has a .07% chance of killing you. I have had the virus and recovered from it, if you are a generally healthy human being you will be fine. Leftists are using this virus has a manufactured crisis two seize and hold power over you that’s it.
