**** is getting scary, food's not enough and salaries can't keep up with the food prices, now the govnmt decided to take over the supermarkets to put fixed prices in everything, which will cause scarcity and desperation. Markets are going to close out after their inventory is over because they won't have the money to replenish them.

I'll keep in touch but I'm getting ******* scared here

Good luck to you Litos. When it goes south, use the butt of your right hand to drive the opponents nose up into their skull. Protect your own. God Speed.

Sounds pretty ****. Stay safe. My friend.

Stay safe Litos!

Litos,
Do what you need to protect yourself and your family.
I hope that you have access to the resources you need, and the ability to use those resources when you need them.
Does your family have mobility and safe alternatives from this devolution of civilization?

Venezuela is yet another example of socialism failure.

I will bestow on you an honorary degree in economics since you have it figured out.

I'll pray for you, brother. Any chance you can get out?

we have the resources, food for a month or so and enough money to get more, we also have $ to buy plane tickets away but to do what?

My parents are in their 60s have made a life and reputation (both are well respected doctors, my dad is a hotshot surgeon), have their very comfortable apartment and are not interested in leaving losing all their life's work.

I have a couple of projects running in Miami and Lima, Perú but nothing concrete yet, here I have my apartment, car, company, etc. So does my wife, we live between two cities 45 minutes away, each has it's own apartment and company. My daughter is 10 years old and has a very good education here that I worry that I won't be able to pay in another country.

But yes, if **** completely hits the fan we can buy some plane tickets and GTFOH, the difficult part is that if **** does hit the fan maybe there won't be any planes going anywhere. So here I am, doubting if I leave all my life behind and start from scratch or wait for the storm and hope for the best, that the same crisis causes the president and his staff to leave, as that would give a lot of hope to all venezuelans and might jumpstart the economy and private investments here.

thanks Ron, here you learn politics and economy as nowhere else just by trying to follow up all that has been going on for 18 years. and projecting where is the country heading. I mean, who the hell at 25 years old has any interest in politics and macro economics if it is not your career at all? That's me 10 years back, now I'm 35. It's part of our everyday life, we are writing history here, I hope in a few years books talk about this 18-20 years as The Dark Years and a learned lesson of why people should stay away from supporting socialists-comunists.

I'm a serious believer that countries where the majority of the people is ignorant should not have a democracy as electing system. You need another system until you educate that majority to make an intelligent decision.

Best wishes, Litos, and sounds like you and your family are the foundation on which Venezuela was built. Keep the faith, my friend.

The lack of coverage of the situation down there is amazing. Hang in there Litos.

Stay safe Litos, and prayers this all works out for everyone there. World news in the states focuses mostly on Israel, the Palestinians, and of course Russia.

Didn't the US president ask recently about the South American appetite for fighting with/for Venezuela?
How did they respond?

no one is going to come from outside to free us, this is not Cuba in the 70s or Irak in the 90s. No one gives a flying **** as long as it doesn't affect them directly.

God speed brother. You sound like you have it dialed in for the long term. Sorry you're stuck in other people's stupid.

I'd get the **** outta there...move to Fl everyone else is

How Bernie Sanders's minimum wage hike idea works in Venezuela

The socialist Senator this past year introduced legislation in the Senate for the wage hike and while that didn't succeed (so far) has made the $15 wage call a standard platform item for most Democrats on the campaign trail. After all, if a $10 minimum wage hike is great, why not a $15 raise?.......

Going Bernie one better, Venezuela's Nicolas Maduro has raised the minimum wage 60% in his socialist country, using the exact same logic as Sanders. It's something like his 15th minimum wage rise since he took the reins of the presidency

That and a Maduro wage hike will buy you a cup of coffee.

Maduro's results are so meager because an inordinately large percent of the public with jobs has government jobs, financed by money-printing now that the oil industry is in default. The wage rise will require the printing of more money

Schools here are free, sort of, your taxes pay for them, and if you are in a good area the public schools are very good. Something to check into if you need to move to, say, Miami, to keep an eye on your business for a while.

Thing is, being legally there would cost a fortune in investments that I don't have. I can maybe start business there but it would take a year or two to get legal status so I don't know how my daughter could get a public education there until then

No reason to worry about that, Litos. School districts are precluded from inquiring about a student's citizenship.

Mexicans do it all the time and most of them don't even come here legally.

I can mail you some seeds for a garden?
