Democrats and gun control - "You first"

Aside from Monday, it will be interesting to see the voter turn out there in November, because if that doesn't send a statement then Virginia is truly lost.

If Biden flames out - well, stumbles around, gets lost, is found half-naked in a Walmart parking lot trying to get into a car that is not his, and eventually fizzles out - and somebody like Sanders or Warren is the nominee, Trump gets 12% to 15% of the African-American vote and wins Nevada, Virginia, and Minnesota.

You heard it here first.

Absolutely Northam and Virginia's Democrat legislature have brought this on themselves. Their ploy is that they know these moves will ultimately prove to be unconstitutional, but also know it will take decades to prove it.

They're running scared, trying to increase from 10% to 25% the number of signatures required for a recall election. Aside from Monday, it will be interesting to see the voter turn out there in November, because if that doesn't send a statement then Virginia is truly lost.

The millions of Federal workers in northern VA in the D.C. suburbs are a solid Democrat voting bloc and they WILL turn out strong since they are voting for more of each other and more pay raises and benefits. I don't know if there are enough Republicans in the rest of the state to offset that. I think VA has become NY and is lost.

It's just the start

New York Bill Requires Mental Health Evaluation to Buy Firearms

Requires a purchaser of any firearm, rifle or shotgun to submit to a mental health evaluation

Legislation pre-filed in New York by State Senator James Sanders (D-10th Senate District) will require anyone wishing to purchase a firearm to first pass a mental health evaluation.

Senate Bill 7065 has been referred to the New York Senate Consumer Protection Committee where it awaits a hearing.Current New York law requires the use of a licensed firearms dealer and passage of a federal background (NICS) check to transfer any firearm.

SB 7065 would require the mental health check prior to initiating the background check.

Interesting that they would install such lofty prerequisites when anyone can walk into the Department of Mexican Voters and get a drivers license that automatically qualifies voting rights. Maybe they haven't thought this thing through?

I still think Trump wins 48 states, Cali and NY be damned.

Trump will lose the hard blue states, NY, CA, MA, CT, IL, VA, OR, WA, possibly SC and NM, but it will be an electoral landslide.

Maybe they haven't thought this thing through?

Sure they have

Mental health questioner: "Why do you want to buy this gun?"

Purchaser: "For self protection"

Mental health questioner: "Purchaser exhibits signs of paranoia, gun sale denied"

Then there is the other side of the coin Zona. Here's an alternate view from Virginia State Senator Amanda Chase.

January 18th, 2020
Virginia State Senator Warns Gun Owners About Upcoming Rally: ‘We Are Being Set Up’

In a Facebook post, Chase wrote: “Sadly, I am posting this, knowing that the Governor of Virginia has declared a State of Emergency in our state. I want you to be aware of how we are being set up. Does the Patriot Act ring a bell? Does the National Defense Authorization Act ring a bell?”

“The Governor, using the media has already set the stage for this to happen,” Chase continued. “He has already laid the groundwork to make the entire movement look like insurrection"

“Anyone who has ever related to the 3%er’s, a militia, or just belonged to any Patriot group…the groundwork has been laid to brand you as a domestic terrorist,” Chase continued. “They have gone out of their way since the Obama years to [ensure] they had us labeled, but it didn’t start with Obama. It started with the Patriot Act under the Bush administration. We are being played by a well oiled machine, these things have been in the works for many years. They are kicking things into high gear. Military veterans were/are even listed as potential domestic terrorist.”

It will be interesting to see if this scenario holds true.

Makes me think I might be too low on ammo.

This is an interesting chart. Seems like the states with tough gun laws, (New York, Mass., Connecticut, Hawaii) have much lower rates of gun deaths.

Guns might not be the problem, but gun laws seem to be, 40,000 dead Americans per year confirm that is true. So if you believe saving American lives are important, what's your
solution? Teaching Americans to duck better, doesn't count.

Heavily-armed domestic terrorists prowling the streets, should be relatively easy to identify them. Godspeed to the local police force, hope they can contain this event and keep things relatively peaceful.

The article doesn't seem to go int detail about the cause of the deaths, accidental, suicide, etc.

My thought is instead of making more laws that law abiding citizens have to obey, why not make some laws that will slap those that use a weapon while committing an actual crime?

Heavily-armed domestic terrorists prowling the streets,

I seriously ask - what the **** is wrong with you?

Everyone else sees humans exercising their rights, peacefully, carrying weapons the CONSTITUTION entitles them too.

You labeling them "domestic terrorists" would be the same as Flog calling all African Americans criminals.

Do you ever stop to re-read the inflammatory, incorrect, biased, bigoted **** you write???

I hope it doesn't disappoint you when no riots break out, and just a display of US citizens exercising their right to peacefully protest an overreach by the Virginia legislature.

I feel for you. It would be a shame to have to live in a world of such extreme paranoia every day. I would have to assume it would take a toll on one's mental well being.

the pols? LOL = they're who the 2A was written to protect the American citizen FROM.

You labeling them "domestic terrorists"...

Seems somebody hasn't been keeping up with the news lately. Tsk tsk.

On Thursday, the FBI arrested three suspected neo-Nazis who were planning to attend the rally. One of them was a former Canadian army reservist and all were linked to a group called The Base that aims to establish a state populated only by whites.

Northam referenced the riots that happened in Charlottesville, VA in August of 2017 at the “Unite the Right” rally. That rally turned deadly when a man ran over numerous protesters with his vehicle. A 32-year-old counter-protester was killed. “We will not allow that mayhem and violence to happen here.”

FBI arrests three more members of right wing extremist group 'The Base'
https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-51144177

Three more alleged members of a US neo-Nazi hate group have been arrested in Georgia, authorities say, in what appears to be a national operation.

The arrests came on the same day that three suspected members of the same group were detained in Maryland and Delaware.

All six men are reported members of white supremacist group The Base.

One of the three was a Canadian army reservist who had been missing for several months after fleeing Canada.

Patrik Matthews is believed to have illegally crossed into the US after his alleged affiliations with The Base were discovered. He was arrested alongside two others in the Maryland and Delaware operation.

The FBI said Mr Matthews and two others planned to travel to a pro-gun rally on Monday in Richmond, Virginia. Virginia governor Ralph Northam declared a state of emergency on Wednesday ahead of the rally, to block attendees from carrying weapons near the grounds of the Capitol building, citing credible threats of violence.

I must have missed your outrage and indignation over 'masked' protestors marching around intimidating the public...must have got lost in the shuffle of all your bellicose Antifa posts. LOL, the hypocrisy has always been through the roof with you.

Why is Ohio blue on that graphic? Aside from Cuyahoga it is pretty red with a little purple. Ohio would be red.

What the **** are you talking about?!?

Three guys out of 30 have their faces covered because it was 23 ******* degrees when they started lining up.

You are ill, Tibs. Seriously, see a doctor. You are so obsessed with your hatred of all things American that it has infected your brain. You live thousands of miles away from the United States, don't actually know what is happening in our great nation, get all your information from lying Soros-funded lefty web sites, cannot differentiate reality from fantasy, are agonized that Donald Trump is 1000 times the President Barry Hussein was, hate the incredible success of the Trump administration in terms of income, and employment, and GDP growth, and ISIS, and terrorists. Trump's success tortures you.

And I have to tell you, I am rooting for five more years of torture because that means America is vastly better and stronger. Bammy wanted to oversee America's decline and failure; Trump IS overseeing America's expansion and success.

As people who support law and order as a foundation for a peaceful and secure society, we should be happy whenever a bad guy is caught. Antifa, neo Nazis, KKK, gangsters, you name it. Every one of them off the streets is a great thing. Stand for all of that. Each of you.

Most of the gun owners are not these types. Taking guns from them is only going to enable the bad guys who, by definition "bad guy" won't give up their guns, to take advantage of the good guys who no longer has their guns. It's very basic logic.

Some hills are worth dying on.

What the **** are you talking about?!?

Thank you for your typical, unhinged diatribe. What say you to the white nationalist paramilitary terrorists who were arrested days before the rally?

According to arrest affidavits, The Base is a racially motivated violent extremist group that sought to "accelerate the downfall of the United States government, incite a race war and establish a white ethno-state."

Luke Austin Lane, Michael Helterbrand, and Jacob Kaderli were planning to "overthrow the government and murder a Bartow County couple" who they believed to be Antifa members, Floyd County police said in a statement.

An unnamed member of The Base who crossed into the US illegally met with two members of those arrested in Georgia in October 2019 to discuss revenge attacks against his enemies, according to charging documents.

The gang member, presumed to be Mr Matthews, is said to have called for the "death penalty" against anyone engaged in anti-fascist activities.
