Derek Chauvin Trial

I disagree.

You think you current facts have nothing to do w/ the systemic root cause? That's hilarious.
What systemic root cause? Can you point to a law that hasn’t been repealed or superseded that makes black Americans lesser citizens than white Americans? I will give you a hint there aren’t any. That means black Americans need to look to themselves and own their issues and deal with those issues.

If systemic racism is the main problem of the black community why doesn't it affect all black people ? Why are you a successful black man ? I work with literally thousands( my employer employee's over 10,000 people ) of successful black people (in the South) , why didn't it stop them from being successful ? I was raised by a single parent on the mill hill in some really poor conditions , but I overcame the hand I was dealt and succeeded. Why is this so hard for some to succeed in the black community and not others ? These are all serious questions, would love to hear the response from a successful black man in the US.

It’s different when you’re a Democrat. And anyway this guy couldn’t carry Robert Byrd’s jockstrap or Klan Robe.

The appeals process is gonna be interesting.

Maxine's comments, the President's comments, then the Jury....nothing wrong with this jurist I imagine.

I mentioned the report that there was a picture of Mitchell floating around that showed him at a protest in Washington, D.C. on August 28 last year in a BLM shirt and hat. The shirt said “Get your knees off our necks” and “BLM.” Derek Chauvin had his knee on George Floyd for over nine minutes.

Now, Mitchell is admitting he actually was at the protest and that the picture was posted by his uncle, although he’s claiming he doesn’t recall wearing or owning the shirt, according to the AP.

Mitchell is downplaying his attendance at the protest, saying that “I’d never been to D.C.,” Mitchell said of his reasons for attending the event. “The opportunity to go to D.C., the opportunity to be around thousands and thousands of Black people; I just thought it was a good opportunity to be a part of something.”

Mitchell told the Star Tribune that last summer’s protest was “100% not” a march for Floyd.
“It was directly related to MLK’s March on Washington from the ’60s … The date of the March on Washington is the date … It was literally called the anniversary of the March on Washington,” he said.

So, now, there are a few problems with what Mitchell said.

Saying he doesn’t even remember wearing or owning the shirt? In the words of Joe Biden, come on, man! He recognizes that there’s a problem now with his actions and he’s trying to minimize it.

Second, yes, the march was officially in remembrance of MLK’s march. But it was also explicitly referred to all over social media as the “Get Your Knees Off Our Necks” march/protest. The fact that he doesn’t say that is additionally concerning. Plug that phrase into the Twitter search function and you can see all kinds of protesters referring to the August 28th event by that name.

Funny. Maybe the black communities wouldn't be in the state that they are if they were considered more than 3/5's of a man/woman...

Maybe if we were used as "test dummies" for the Tuskegee Project? Maybe if Henrietta Lacks was not treated less than human only to have her cell line immortalized because she and the men from the Tuskegee Project were told the 'facts' and paid handsomely for their contributions to Americans today???

I'm not going to get mad. I'm going to continue to educate (those willing to listen) that blacks were put into a very troubling and precarious situation from the onset of their arrival in this country. And WE STILL HAVE NOT RECOVERED FROM THAT. Fact.

Instead of finding humor in Tibs post and mine---instead of 'not tolerating the black community spinning' - arm yourself with the real facts and learn to speak to both sides of the story - just as many of the blacks that you condemn have to do...

Tell me how one does not think these statements are racially divisive???

1. Stop committing 50% of all the crimes
2. Committing 80% of violent crimes
3. Teach black women to stop producing babies

No one is making excuses, DBS, no one. But your comment, Stewey's comment, gents they cross the line SO BLATANTLY that it makes me want to puke.

Simple question Berm....are these statements above not accurate?

If I step outside, it's 95 degrees and say "it's hot" is that not accurate?

It's now racist merely to state facts? How?

The destruction of the family unit, which admittedly has been caused by many factors, is a fatal blow to black America.

I was discussing it with my wife the other day, and please, I hope nobody takes this the wrong way. How can a person build "generational wealth" when there are no generations. I will inherit land and property from my Dad when he dies. I will use these assets to invest in my own life and build holdings which I will pass on to my daughters when I die.

But if I had no father, I would have nothing to inherit upon his death. If I had no children, I would leave nothing behind for them. Single mothers of any race or culture struggle to build land or property holdings because their primary focus is on making enough income to take care of their children as best they can. There's nothing left for investment in an inheritance.

I don't know how anybody could expect people NOT to fail in a situation where the largest part of a demographic doesn't have strong, long-lasting family units. (To be clear I am not referring to all black people as that demographic. I am primarily referring to black people who live in high density populations in large, urban settings.)

It's probably not very popular, but the best long-term solution to black impoverishment is for black people to start committing to marriage and stable families. It doesn't matter how low you are on the economic scale, if you have a strong family unit you are far better in the long term than if you are a single man or a single mother.

It should be noted, even if/when black people begin committing to long term family stability, it will take GENERATIONS for that to filter through for their descendants. Again, it kind of sucks, but there it is. I don't see any easy fix to be honest.

I'm going to disagree slightly. Around 80% of millionaires are 1st generation wealthy. It helps to have rich family members but it isn't the key. The key is a family structure and work ethic. In the U.S. you don't need generational wealth to make it. Heck sometimes you don't even need to be intelligent, just look at LeCon James....

The sad part is prior to 1965 black Americans were almost on par with whites. But remember what LBJ said about the Great Society Wellfare plan, “If we get this passed we’ll have those N*gg@rs voting for us for the next 200 years.”

Race has zero bearing on the fact that being married when having children is the single most effective way to stay out of poverty, and indeed achieve economic success.

A single-parent household often means a single income. That increases the chances such a household will face poverty, according to a 2019 report compiled by Multnomah County. Across the county, 33% of single-parent households are in poverty—the highest rate among all demographics.

Children in poverty = children who have a negative view of the world, are more likely to lack supervision, engage in drug use and crime.

Certainly there are always success (and failure) outliers. The point is, if you work your entire life and are only able to buy a small house which you either manage to pay off or even "mostly" pay off, when you leave that asset to your children, they get a little bump. Odds are that they are able to build something themselves which THEY leave to their children... Bigger house, maybe a tiny bit of land, even some small investments. And there will always be generations that **** **** up. Dumb little Eddie who bets everything on the horses type of deal.

But generally speaking, strong family units not only provide better support foundations in the first place for their children to grow up and have more success in the world, strong families over time build assets that ultimately get passed down.

And as somebody else pointed out, yes - it isn't a "race" thing, it's a tortoise vs the hare thing that ultimately works for pretty much everybody.

Anyone with a brain knows this is the root cause of statistical differences among the races, not some imaginary "systemic racism".

It is a very dangerous trend in this country to look down upon "privilege". My sole purpose as a father is to PROVIDE privilege for my children. If you want to define privilege (as the left wants to) as a stable home life, financial independence, nest eggs, educational opportunities, social networks that help find jobs, family and friend structures that offer a wide range of emotional support and love.

We're calling those things "privilege" now? Those aren't privileges. That's the ******* goal of life. If you aren't providing those things to your children you are FAILING as a parent. And if you don't have the MEANS to provide those things, maybe you should reconsider taking that responsibility in the first place.

I always say that my privilege was provided by two parents, who demanded that I be educated. Other than that, hard work.

I disagree.

Hey Bermuda,

Did you find that "Systemic Root Cause" to point to yet?

Can you point to a law or policy that is designed to opress blacks yet?

Still waiting man.

The issue is that the New Deal and the subsequent "redlining" policy that kept Black families from acquiring property greatly impacted generational wealth. Even the housing projects for public assistance were segregated and only white families were allowed to secure loans to move into suburban housing. Once the Federal housing authority lifted these segregation policies with the Fair Housing Act, Black families couldn't afford to purchase the homes that the white families were able to invest in and use as collateral to send their kids to college. Today, African-American wealth is about 5 percent of white wealth and according to the Survey of Consumer Finances the typical White family has eight times the wealth of the typical Black family and five times the wealth of the typical Hispanic family. Considering that the middle class gains their wealth via the equity they have in their homes, you can see how these regulations some 80 years ago has impacted the gap in wealth today. 50% of the homeless population are black. Pretty staggering statistic considering they "make up 13% of the population" as many of you like to point out

What is important to note is that the Democratic party has been, and continues to be, the very reason that minorities in this country continue to struggle with policies that enslave them to a system of subpar housing and reliability on government assistance for basic human needs. It's disgusting.

So, instead of demonizing white people, we should be demonizing the Democratic Party for this horrid situation whereby urban populations breed violence and make it more economical to have children and remain unmarried. They're not only enslaved to poverty but also to social abuses and sub par education. How many inner-city school students are going to have quality teachers with quality programs that prepare them for higher education or vocational trades? Is that not a system of oppression?

BUT....

As people have pointed out, a black man or woman has every opportunity to succeed in this country today if they want to put in the work. The narrative that is pounded into the minds of young blacks that they are oppressed and don't have the same opportunities as whites is a poison that should be stopped. This very system that oppresses minorities also oppresses whites. I have cousins who wont get married because it would impact them financially. Healthcare, education, food, utilities assistance all goes away if they tie the knot. It's not systemic RACISM, it's systemic SOCIALISM.

And the Democratic party isn't done yet. Why work when the government programs can pay you more? Restaurants are now closing for days because they have no-one willing to work. "Well, Mr Business...pay them more money and they'll come back to work" That isn't Marxist theory at all, nah.

Yeah red lining ended more than 50 years ago. Even still before it ended blacks were nearly on par with whites in the middle class before the “Great Society”.
