Did anyone mention the Defense?

Can’t remember the last time the good guys did that! They put the clamps down. Herbert was doing well vs the zone in the middle of the field in the first half.

Mike and/or Austin made the adjustment to more man press and pressure in the second half and it was a wrap.

Loved the aggression.

-5 yards total offense for the chargers in the second half.

I'm not sure but that sounds pretty damn dominating

Nah, can’t be. Tomlin sucks as a HC, doesn’t know anything or lives in his fears. It was all the Chargers being a suck *** team.

Meh....they can do better.🤪

I'm tellin ya now if this Defense stays healthy it will be right up there with the great Steelers Defenses of the 70's, 85 Bears & 2000 Rats.
Healthy is the key word here..

Please. Have you been happy with the results the last 5 or 6...7 years? I hope not. There is room for drastic improvement. So far this season Tomlin has shown that change isn't always a bad thing. Props to Tomlin .....and moving forward. It has been just 3 games....but hopefully he keeps it up.

Two things can be true at the same time. 😬
Fact is that Tomlin has been simply mediocre the last decade. Hopefully we can take the next step forward as a team.. obviously under his leadership. Fingers crossed 🤞.

LOL…”happy” with results. I’ve been “happy” 6 times watching this franchise. Crushed twice. They’ve been in the top 1/3 of the league with playoff chances, and with the exception of the last three years with O’Canada, I am optimistic they have a chance to win another Lombardi. After the 2005 run, I know anything is possible especially since the league has maintained parity except for the Cheats and KC.

Why say props to Tomlin? You know you don’t really mean it. It’s just a form of acknowledging what you see is a modicum of success right now. But, if they lose a game, then you can say “fire Tomlin, he can’t coach”, etc, and right back to what you really believe. That’s perfectly fine, you can have any opinion you want. We will just have to agree to disagree, as I don’t have that opinion.

I’ve remember folks wanting Noll gone badly in 88. I remember Cowher having folks demanding he be fired in 99 because he hired terrible offensive coordinators and had back to back losing seasons. So, it’s no different to seeing folks wanting Tomlin gone. I’m a realist. Coaches coach, players play. Coaches put players in a position to make plays and there are special players who make great plays. Tomlin made a mistake hiring O’Canada, he’s acknowledged it by hiring a real OC this time. Cowher did the same, twice, with Sherman and to an extent with Gilbride. All coaches do at some point.

Choosing to be optimistic while understanding the context of the situation is more realistic. Thats my opinion. There are many who disagree, and I don’t have a problem with it. It is also my opinion, trying to control what I can’t control is a complete waste of time. I can gripe about it but it doesn’t change anything.

Yeah, this defense was a lot of fun to watch today. I've seen some good performances over the years, but in the second half this group felt different. A step up with energy from this group and the crowd responded.
Yep I love how you zoomed in on their performance as I enjoyed it too and in general on the year.

How the Chargers were an upgrade in competition I also think a wounded then an out QB helped the Ds cause. I want to see more , not that they aren’t trending in the right direction.

I know Tomlin isn't going anywhere. I have been criti al of him. And have said I hope he finally will learn from his failures.

I see a different approach defensively. Our CBs are not 10 yards off the WRs. We are playing more aggressively in coverage. That is a change. A big one.

On offense we are finally using the middle of the field. That is change. Another big one. So yes. I will give Tomlin props for that.

Will the wins keep stacking? Will Tomlin keep this new approach? Time will tell.

He has deserved his playoff critical discussions.

I think now more than ever he needs to let his coordinators coordinate. And fine tune their strengths and vere away from whatever doesn’t work for them.

He can be more hands on with players he feels needs coached up.

The season will present with plenty of challenges. So he and the team will have some Ls obviously. Hopefully not blowouts and ones they learn on to improve.

I will measure Tomlin not on the season but on how well he positions the team for the playoffs and what they do if and when they get there.
