There are a lot of questions as to why Tomlin is still HC for the Steelers. We don't know, so people have to come up with reasons to explain it. Some say Rooney is just not a football guy, some say Rooney wants to give Tomlin some records, some say it is the race issue, others have said whatever. Either way, there is no real clear reason for this craziness. He is just not making it work these days, if he ever really was.
Those who think it is race, have lots of angles on it. The Rooney rule, a culture of DEI, Rooney being afraid of appearing racist, etc. These people are just looking for rational for Tomlin still being there. They choose the race issue to explain it. Sometimes, when these people are frustrated, it might come across poorly, or whatever, as a frustrated person commonly does.
I don't think it's race. I think Rooney just is not a football guy. I keep hoping he steps down and hands off the baton to others. That would be a time to send Tomlin on his way to the next era of his life. I think he would be a great talking head in studio. We'll see.
I don't think Burg is racist, but very frustrated. I don't think Kap is a target of any comments about race, but he is also frustrated, and not comfortable with the race angle. I hope you both - and any others - are good to each other going forward. I have learned to value both of you as posters here, and look forward to much more from both of you.
Go Steelers! Go away Tomlin!
