Well since it's going down and Elon is moving in, I'll post these here (instead of starting a new thread).
He didn't need to build an alternative, per the thread title - he just bought the whole dayumed thing. Like a boss.

You shouldn’t need too many people when most of your subscribers are bots.So twitters code is already written, right? What exactly do twitter employees do on a daily basis? I mean they need some tech guys servicing servers and some people to clean up stuff it wise, but that company feels bloated
It depends on the account. I think it’s a safety/troll feature. In the past when I clicked on the Twitter links posted here to read the comments, I was only able to read about a handful before I was required to sign on to Twit.
Now, for whatever reason, I can read all of them.

Nor do I. It’s just what I found. Some “sensitive” folks the roll would stop and sign in pop up. Normal folks it’s just rolls. Maybe I found this out by most porn stars rolls just go and go.I don't twit, just an observation, thought the sensors might be more worried about their paycheck lately.

Thing is, they’ll never figure out that their bias caused Musk to buy them out and lose their jobs. The fact that Trump was banned and the Taliban wasn’t tells you all you need to know.they censor tweets. That's why Musk said he plans to fire 75% of them. He already fired the CEO, CFO and head of legal.
Lots of whiny twitter employees are going to have to find real jobs now..
opened 1 this morning. i will never be a tweeter. just readWhat a great move to preserve free speech. He's done more to preserve the First Ammendment than any politician could.
I may actually go open a Twitter account in support, not that I'll really use it much.
