First-pick.com - It's Mock Draft time again...

This is from the draft network.

49 Jonathan Taylor, RB
Steelers need a feature back and in this draft Taylor falls. Patient runner, good speed and strength. I don’t think he blows the combine away but is a good athlete.

114 Jared Pinkney, TE
We are in need of a TE as Vannett is a FA, Gentry didn’t show much, and McDonald is injury prone.

118 Nick Coe , DL
Very talented DL who never lived up to the talent. Might be a good development guy behind Heyward.

178 Jonathan Garvin, EDGE
Young 20 yo prospect that looks the part of an NFL rusher. Reminds me of Danielle Hunter and probably needs a year to season. I don’t know if we work out a long term contract with Dupree but I feel we at least tag him.

209 Charleston Rambo, WR
Speedy, smooth athlete who has fluid hips and hand catcher.

Vanderbilt's TE looks pretty good and some have him going 2nd round. I want a TE too, but we pick at 50, might be too high to waste on a TE

It’s a weak TE class. When are the comp picks announced? Hope we get a third.

The value that best matches the need for us is RB, G and C in round two. A speedy back who can run and catch the football is a need. I like Clemson’s back.

Somehow I knew you would like Etienne. Not so sure I would disagree in this instance. We need an explosive player at the RB position. He fits that want. And he is a capable pass catcher too. Not sure he will be there mid 2 though. As far as the third comp pick that is what some so called could move pick experts are saying we should receive.

Travis is my early want but could be off the board. I am gathering a list so far it is RBs,T, and a NT.

Strangely both he and JK Dobbins were still on the board. Najee Harris as well.

Others may call me crazy, but RB should be the target w/ our first pick this year - we need a durable guy that can stay on the field when needed.

If we can somehow find a veteran backup QB in the off-season I'll be happy...

great. now all my hard work is for naught and i have to redo this.

Fanspeak updated their big board so totally new draft.

49: R2P17 TE COLE KMET NOTRE DAME
Athletic dual sport athlete who shows willingness to block. Think we could dump Vance and sign Vannett with Kmet on board.

102: R3P38 DL JAMES LYNCH
BAYLOR
Lynch would take over for Hargrave immediately but I feel we’d need to put McCullers in more on obvious running downs. And long term he would be Heyward’s heir apparent.

121: R4P18 EDGE JONATHAN GARVIN MIAMI
I think we tag Dupree but Garvin gives us assurance if a long term deal can’t be placed. Lot like Dupree physically but like Dupree needs refinement.

128: R4P25 WR DENZEL MIMS
BAYLOR
Mims is a big bodied smooth route runner with natural hands. Reminds me of Sanu.

198: R6P19 G JON RUNYAN
MICHIGAN
Feel he’d immediately take over for Foster.

232: R7P18 RB MICHAEL WARREN II CINCINNATI
North south runner with nice wiggle. Good hands and nfl build.

I've done a few of these. They finally had us with an assumed 3rd round comp pick. I made one trade back and Swift was still sitting there. That would never happen but I would take this draft in a heart beat. It would solidify all skill positions and the o-line while adding depth players for the D that could start some day. I took a flyer on Bachie in the 4th even though he tested positive for a PED. Heck, it's a 4th round pick and he could help solidify the center of our LB crew in a year or two alongside Bush.

Your score is: 37400 (GRADE: A-)

Your Picks:
Round 2 Pick 22 (BUF): DAndre Swift, RB, Georgia (A+)
Round 3 Pick 22 (BUF): Brycen Hopkins, TE, Purdue (A+)
Round 3 Pick 38 (COMP): Calvin Throckmorton, OT, Oregon (A+)
Round 4 Pick 18: KJ Hill, WR, Ohio State (A+)
Round 4 Pick 29: Joe Bachie, OLB, Michigan State (A+)
Round 5 Pick 8: Tre'Vour Wallace-Simms, OG, Missouri (A+)
Round 6 Pick 19: Jonathan Garvin, DE/OLB, Miami (A+)
Round 7 Pick 18: Tedarrell Slaton, DT, Florida (A+)

Some of these sites are just not realistic BUT I love some of the drafts y'all have us coming in with:

Tried my best w First-Pick because it makes me look like a genius (with one trade), I got more 3rd and 4th round picks (which is where the value is, IMO)

Your score is: 36621 (GRADE: A-)

Your Picks:
Round 2 Pick 17: Jonathan Taylor, RB, Wisconsin (A) Best fit for us, IMO
Round 4 Pick 12 (DEN): Devin Duvernay, WR, Texas (A+) Better fit and player than Collin Johnson with long speed and RAC. He was the safety blanket for Ehlinger all year.
Round 4 Pick 18: Albert Okwuegbunam, TE, Missouri (A+) Not the best TE but perhaps the best overall skillset with upside as well as risk.
Round 4 Pick 29: Leki Fotu, DT, Utah (A+) Short area quickness and size, better than McCullers and BPA.
Round 4 Pick 32 (DEN): Levonta Taylor, CB, Florida State (A+) SHut-down CB with mad coverage ability but size concerns drop him.
Round 5 Pick 8: Gage Cervenka, C, Clemson (A+) Record breaking wrestler in HS with great understanding of leverage.
Round 5 Pick 32 (DEN): Pete Werner, OLB, Ohio State (A+) Not really a OLB but may have same draft impact as Shazier and very fast. We need a fast ILB who is taller than Bush to cover TEs.
Round 6 Pick 19: Antoine Brooks, FS/SS, Maryland (A+) Better in coverage than Edmonds and possibly a better tackler in space.
Round 7 Pick 18: Denzel Mims, WR, Baylor (A+) Boom/Bust like most smooth speed guys. He could be Deandre Hopkins... or not but he will go earlier than this.

I would not take an RB with the first pick. If the TE class is weak I would take someone for the Oline. We have capable RBs but when teams stack 9 people in the box no RBs are going anywhere. I would look to FA for RB if you really want one.

The TE from Notre Dame decided to come out. I hadn't seen that before. I grabbed him with my 1st pick in a draft I was doing earlier.

^^^ Yeah Slash, you got the unexplained grading system too. How do you get a "B" grade with 5 A+, an A and the lowest grade is a B+? First-Pick, that's how.

I was graded at an "A-" with all A+ scores (8) and an A.

Doesn't matter, IF it was that easy to pick great players, we'd all look like GMs. I'd love lots of the drafts I've seen.

My assessment of this draft, presently, is there may NOT be a TE as good as MacDonald with our first pick in the 2nd. That's how "iffy" this draft is right now at TE.

We need a RB who has some wiggle and some wheels, IMO. Just one that doesn't break-down from regular use.

We can get an OG/C prospect that immediately is better than Foster and leave Feiler at T. It will be much harder to move Feiler to OG and try to find a replacement OT that won't get a newly healed Ben killed.

We experienced what a serious lack of depth at WR caused us this year and all 3 of our starters missed time...so we need a "sturdy" chain mover at WR.

We don't need anyone on Defense (as an immediate starter) but would be wise to plan for replacing Vinnie soon and we always need DL help as someone always goes down. Our secondary is solid but we need to plan for the replacement of our nickel, a CB and possibly upgrade our SS. We are "set" but thin at most positions. We won't be able to find anyone better than Bud with our picks, so hopefully, we get that deal done. We can add some upside potential guys but it is unlikely we draft an OLB who can be anything more than Chick's replacement.

So, IMO, it depends on how this draft unfolds in reality BUT by 2.17, a TE will have the same potential as a 5.17 if it plays out with the top 3 TEs gone by our pick. RB is another gamble. I like Taylor better than any RB in the draft because he has all of the traits that fit into a Connor replacement part. Maybe even better. Connor is fine except he is always in the shop.
Our WRs all have trouble staying healthy and getting real separation consistently. We need a chain mover like Ward or Anquan Boldin, IMO. We have a giant hole at TE but we don't have the draft to "nail-down" a guaranteed replacement to what we already have. Look how many tries it took Baltimore to hit paydirt on a TE in the draft.
In reality, we still need a ILB that can cover TEs because Bush is not it. He is not Ryan Shazier and never will be BUT he has sideline to sideline range and the ability to "spy" running QBs and RBs coming out of the backfield. A big FS/SS with coverage ability would be better than the Mark Barron experiment. There are no standout DL in this draft that will be available to us but we can get some "bit-players" later in the draft like we usually do.

There will be some players that shoot up the draft boards based on their Combine/Pro Day numbers but they will be over-drafted because of guys like George Kittle...who we should have taken instead of Dobbs.
