First-pick.com - It's Mock Draft time again...

Weak TE draft class for sure I do like Albert I think he is athletic enough to at least upgrade what Jesse James brought to the table.I think if they can upgrade Foster they can stop some of the bleeding on the Oline. With Conners extensive injury issues they need to address that early as well.

Since a number of quality backs decided to stay in school, the Steelers might pass on a back this year and wait until next if Connor has injury issues again.

^^^ Yeah Slash, you got the unexplained grading system too. How do you get a "B" grade with 5 A+, an A and the lowest grade is a B+? First-Pick, that's how.

I was graded at an "A-" with all A+ scores (8) and an A.

Doesn't matter, IF it was that easy to pick great players, we'd all look like GMs. I'd love lots of the drafts I've seen.

My assessment of this draft, presently, is there may NOT be a TE as good as MacDonald with our first pick in the 2nd. That's how "iffy" this draft is right now at TE.

We need a RB who has some wiggle and some wheels, IMO. Just one that doesn't break-down from regular use.

We can get an OG/C prospect that immediately is better than Foster and leave Feiler at T. It will be much harder to move Feiler to OG and try to find a replacement OT that won't get a newly healed Ben killed.

We experienced what a serious lack of depth at WR caused us this year and all 3 of our starters missed time...so we need a "sturdy" chain mover at WR.

We don't need anyone on Defense (as an immediate starter) but would be wise to plan for replacing Vinnie soon and we always need DL help as someone always goes down. Our secondary is solid but we need to plan for the replacement of our nickel, a CB and possibly upgrade our SS. We are "set" but thin at most positions. We won't be able to find anyone better than Bud with our picks, so hopefully, we get that deal done. We can add some upside potential guys but it is unlikely we draft an OLB who can be anything more than Chick's replacement.

So, IMO, it depends on how this draft unfolds in reality BUT by 2.17, a TE will have the same potential as a 5.17 if it plays out with the top 3 TEs gone by our pick. RB is another gamble. I like Taylor better than any RB in the draft because he has all of the traits that fit into a Connor replacement part. Maybe even better. Connor is fine except he is always in the shop.
Our WRs all have trouble staying healthy and getting real separation consistently. We need a chain mover like Ward or Anquan Boldin, IMO. We have a giant hole at TE but we don't have the draft to "nail-down" a guaranteed replacement to what we already have. Look how many tries it took Baltimore to hit paydirt on a TE in the draft.
In reality, we still need a ILB that can cover TEs because Bush is not it. He is not Ryan Shazier and never will be BUT he has sideline to sideline range and the ability to "spy" running QBs and RBs coming out of the backfield. A big FS/SS with coverage ability would be better than the Mark Barron experiment. There are no standout DL in this draft that will be available to us but we can get some "bit-players" later in the draft like we usually do.

There will be some players that shoot up the draft boards based on their Combine/Pro Day numbers but they will be over-drafted because of guys like George Kittle...who we should have taken instead of Dobbs.
Partially agree, moving feiler inside happens only if they see Chuks and Banner truly capable of starting at RT

I like this one a little better of the two mostly because it includes an OL. We have needs but OL is one of them as well. It took Tomlin multiple years to get us a "D" and we need to get OL help sooner than later. If for some chance Josh Jone's was near us in pick order, I'd take him in a heart beat. Thanks slash

I think the really attractive tackles will be picked quickly. Wouldn't shock me to see a T drafted early if they were BPA..

Here are two that I could live with. The first has no trades and the 2nd had one trade back. Both address offfense first and foremost and then grab some D hopefully for depth and even potential future starters. In both, I just can't pass on Dobbins. He is going to have a great combine and probably be off the board before we pick. He will be a 3 down game changing back in the NFL.

I know I went heavy on skill positions but they damn well could pick a G/C type and a T somewhere within their draft. They have what 7 projected picks? I get confused with that 5th I thought that was a given up pick(s)

But you could say 6 needs are WR/T/G/RB/NT/TE

and it wouldn't shock me to see one of each.

I tried to address each. I have typically been grabbing a TE, RB, WR and O-line with my 1st 4 picks. I then look to the D. Slaton in the 7th would be our potential future NT. Dude is big and has potential. He probably should have gone back for his senior season and may end up on the PS for a year but his size and potential are there to at least be a run stuffer.

https://thedraftnetwork.com/mock-draft-machine

I entered this mock with the goal of adding weapons to the offensive side. I feel good where the defense is at and hoped to find some talented players later.

2.49 - KJ Hamlar , WR , Penn State
The Steelers have young talent at the receiver position, but they are missing the speed element. Hamlar was one of the most exciting players in college football and while he may not offer anything in terms of size, he has elite speed. This is the type of player who can help the offense go from solid to explosive with his playmaking ability. In addition to everything else, if Matt Canada gets input into the plays, he will find numerous ways to get the ball in his hands.

4.114 - Adam Trautman, TE, Dayton
Good athlete and a stand out for Dayton on offense. Will need to develop his blocking, but I drafted him to help out in the passing game.

4.125 - Ben Bredeson, G, Michigan
I want the Steelers to be able to run the ball and here is an interior player who can develop into a starter and help out in this area.

6.178 - Antoine Brooks, S, Maryland
Davis is likely to leave and we don't know what we have in Edmunds long term. Too good to pass up at this point.

7.209 - Trevis Gipson, OLB, Tulsa
Raw talent worth taking a chance on here.

KJ is a little light in the pants he might have some problem getting off NFL blocks. And with his small frame I would think there is some injury concern there too.I tell ya if Laviska Shenault Jr slides down he might be an attractive option. A tough receiver and decent sized. Like Washington and JuJu being not a burner might make him available come the Steelers pick.

Hollywood Brown is smaller and didn't have much trouble running by NFL defensive backs for touchdowns. You figure if JuJu and Johnson are the focal points with Washington providing another physical presence, a guy like Hamler can succeed in this offense. I mentioned Canada because of what he did with Quadree Henderson both in the passing game and on jet sweeps. You mix in that element with an overall stronger commitment to the ground game as well as have Hamler as a true speed threat, the Steelers could very quickly get creative on offense.

6 A equals a b

Hamler is tough for his size. He's not afraid to go over the middle. He even took some handoffs and took some hard hits to get key first downs.

The biggest thing for the steelers is his return ability. With Hamler, they could finally have a good return man who also contributes at WR. He can return punts and kicks.

TDN Mock - Not unhappy with how this one turned out.

I know very little about the draft. I usually don't break down the Receivers until closer to the draft and I hit the guys they interviewed. I hear the TE class is weak and the OLB class is strong. Other than that, I don't watch a bunch of college ball, so I'm very low on the analysis until closer to the draft. I break down mechanics when I watch highlights.

Sounded like a lot of work Cope but what I'm going to do is just wait for Coooch or I mean Coach to post his mock and then copy and paste as it's my own.............................. I bet I get a lot of "likes" on that post................

49: R2P17 C CESAR RUIZ MICHIGAN
Pouncey isn’t getting any younger and Ruiz would be a great replacement and could play guard in the meanwhile.

102: R3P38 TE ALBERT OKWUEGBUNAM MISSOURI
Probably won’t last this long after the combine but if he’s there I’d jump on it.

121: R4P18 RB ANTONIO GIBSON
MEMPHIS
Could be the replacement for LB we’ve been waiting for. Playmaker regardless.

132: R4P29 WR CHASE CLAYPOOL NOTRE DAME
Again, doubt he’s here after the combine but if he was you’d have to jump on him.

198: R6P19 S ANTOINE BROOKS JR. MARYLAND
Depth at safety and possibly Edmunds replacement if he doesn’t take a big step this year.

232: R7P18 EDGE JESSIE LEMONIER LIBERTY
Small school tweener with huge stats. Don’t know much about him other than what I see on paper.
