Flores has arrived

Teams usually have two or three lb coaches these days… an ilb and olb and overall guy… just like they have two secondary coaches or two oline coaches schemes are complex enough to need multiple coaches working with multiple guys simultaneously
We need to overlap our HC. Oh and the OC, we might need two to overcome his suck.

🙃

my only problem with this hire is he should have been the new DC.. maybe all involved wanted to get the law suit stuff taken care of before he gets complete control. So personally I hope they settle it in the next couple months so he can take control of the defense before this season starts.

I also hope he gets some draft input this year.

Flores will make an impact. We saw Austin help this team out his first year on the coaching staff and I believe we'll see the same from Flores.

So we hired the Colin Kaepernick of Coaching to join our Steelers. This guy was in charge of a Defense that ranked 7th in the NFL with 6 games against division opponents with a .350% win percentage. Sorry I'm not a fan of this hire and as for our beloved Steelers this team is losing it's identity and what it means to be a Pittsburgh Steeler and wear the Black N Gold. We essentially have 4 players that IMO are true Steelers at heart....Minkah Fitzpatrick, TJ Watt, Cam Heyward & Najee Harris and that is it! I hope I'm wrong but the media circus that will descend on Pittsburgh this season with Brian Flores here will be nothing but a distraction to the players and the team. Art Jr & Coach Tomlin have lost focus on the true idenity and mentality of this organization for the past 53 years in 1969 when Chuck Noll arrived in The Burgh! This hire was Art Jr doing a favor for Roger Goodell by hiring this guy to the roster and creating an additional coaching position...one we've never had before. If I didn't know any better I'd say they could be preparing for Tomlin's eventual departure from the team to replace him with Flores. I for one don't like the direction this organization is heading in.

Flores is a good football coach and a few weeks ago i would have loved this but now i'm lukewarm on it because he seems mentally unstable. The one good thing is he'll call out Bush to his face and won't surgar coat him playing like a bum.

Better give Flores a prime parking spot or he'll sue.

Link? Diagnosis? Or opinion?
Is he unstable because you don't agree with his lawsuit?

it's my opinion. He's suing the Texans too now and they hired Lovie Smith, but he's suing them for racism apparently. It's nonsense. Articles i read about how he treated his fellow coaches last year, essentially not even speaking with them. That's even more worrisome. Seems like he's either a narcissist control freak or has some kind of bi-polar thing going on.

Hopefully he just puts all that **** away for the year and just coaches then moves on a sues a fresh crop of teams next year. Maybe he will branch out and sue a few colleges too. I mean what if he decides he wants the Bama job and they don't give it to him?

On the plus side, maybe what this team needs is an ******* coach to tell them uncomfortable **** to their faces.

OK, so opinion based on not agreeing with his lawsuit. I can understand that.
And yes, some of our LBs need to hear some uncomfortable truths about their play. Bush AND Schobert come to mind.

I do think he's a fool for the lawsuit. But as a coach i'm more concerned with the articles about how he treated his fellow coaches. Seemed childish and not much of a leader. With the steelers he's in a subordinate role so it shouldn't be an issue.

Flores is far from Kap. He has proof that he was a token interview from multiple sources.

It's a travesty that he isn't a HC in this league, and we are very fortunate to have him.

Best of all, he's the Assistant DC, so he can only be interviewed for a promotion, so when he becomes another team's HC or DC we get draft picks!

To be honest with you I don't care what he is suing the NFL for. He either wins or doesn't. Regardless I don't think it impacts the Steelers negativity from a team building standpoint. I think he can impact in the win column. That is all I want for the team to win. Win honestly of course (thinking of others not on the team) but just win. Let us be honest our new DC has some question marks as does our play caller. So if he can positively impact those areas the items I formally threw across the living room will appreciate the hire.

I agree I think as a head coach up to a team to evaluate that. But some of that head butting might be just imposing a will to win. If so we can use some shake up in a room that seems to consistently be inconsistent.

There’s always going to be someone in the media or some disgruntled fan who wants to make a situation worse than it is just because.

Some people’s kids.

I'm afraid that his lawsuit, reports of him not talking with other coaches, Him being in a "subordinate " position , will all be distractions to this team. He will potentially "challenge " Tomlins authority, and football acumen.

We may not get a positive outcome that many here are counting on.

3 LB coaches does seem excessive especially when the team seemed to refuse to hire a much-needed QB coach for most of Ben's tenure. He's also a Sr. defensive assistant so hopefully he and Austin will have a say in the D instead of Tomlin running the entire **** show.

Remember when Brian Flores won four Super Bowl rings on a team that Steelers fans believe cheated to get those rings?

Yeah. You love him now though.

For a good portion of tgat he was a scout for New England… which is why people are probably more enthusiastic about him… he is a guy who started in talent evaluation then moved into talent development then moved to x’s and o’s

Yes the lawsuit it petty, and for those who don’t know he is suing the entire nfl including the Steelers … he simply was specifically calling out particular teams …. But I’ve heard the same “ rooney rule is stupid and doesn’t work “ arguments here for years…

And yes it sucks he is an ex patsterisk guy… but at least he went elsewhere and proved he could turn things around…especially latched to a qb that was an owner’s draft pick, not his own really

Hopefully his attitude is more mellow here… of all the ex pat goons he has shown the most promising talent as a coach.

Im simply looking at this from a developmental side for the lbs… he has shown a good ability to develop guys and determine talent… we need that… if he brings a fresh set of philosophies to the defensive planning side of the ball, great

I meant nothing by it. I know those are going to be talking points. I was implying it was a good football move for the team. By saying those shouldn’t matter, I realize now Im the one who inadvertently brought them up. Good point, I agree.
But it does matter. We may have just become one of the NFL darlings.

I for some reason don't think Bill handed out feel free to cheat cards while he was in house. The less people who knew the less of a paper trail he had. I always thought it was just him and Ernie and Tommy getting heads up in headsets. As long as those three aren't arriving in Pittsburgh I am a'ight.

True but the D was also getting the calls, just ask Hines ward what he thinks about that.

Im pretty sure BB low key calls the defensive plays in New England…. Probably why Tomlin does here… he wants to be BB so badly lol

I don't really care about the lawsuit and i am more concerned about the other reports of his attitude. Could be people just trying to put a negative spin on him to take away from the lawsuit but you never know. Hopefully he can put all that aside and be an asset.
