http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap20...ie-newsome-weve-gotten-calls-about-no-17-pick
Now, this leads me to a couple of things I think I think....
The 49ers/Ravens trade makes sense in too many ways. It allows the 49ers to get ahead of the Jets for a WR. It is between two brothers who have already shown they will give away pieces to each other they think they cannot keep (Anquan Boldin for a 6th?). The 49ers are draft pick heavy and if the 49ers were to overpay, why not hand the picks to your east coast brother?
The only caveat would be IF the 49ers felt that Dallas was in play OR Dallas tipped they would move down with another team to allow them to select the WR the 49ers covet.
Dallas has tried to sell the "We Love Manziel" angle this draft. Well, not so sure they are selling it or maybe Jones does truly love Manziel. It makes sense. He is flashy and draws attention. You bring him to Dallas and butts will hit the seats, hometown kid, fun to watch, get the fans off the "Hate Romo" wagon. If Manziel goes earlier, then Dallas likely goes defense and it changes things, but if Manziel begins to slide, the Steelers spot at #15 could become prime for a trade up spot for teams wanting a QB. Just something to think about.....
Are the Ravens primed to shop their first-round pick in next month's draft?
"We've already gotten some calls about teams wanting to move up," general manager Ozzie Newsome said Wednesday of Baltimore's 17th overall selection.
NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport noted that clubs are "convinced" the Ravens will swing a deal with a receiver-needy team looking to jump the New York Jets at No. 18. One logical trade partner? We'd look to the San Francisco 49ers, a squad obviously on the prowl for more speed at the position.
