Gil Brandt Should Never Have Another Interview After His Despicable Comments on Haskins Death

Today of all days is not the one to comment on the man's life. Common decency is dying in this country.

Inflammatory comments will happen regardless. It’s magnified for us cause we follow the team, but the world is truly a cruel and hard place. Sadly the covid shut downs have made me more cold hearted as well.


I leave my condolences for Haskins. That’s all I can do

I've been listening to him on Sirius radio for awhile now. He is definitely losing his mind. Very surprised he is still on air.

Maybe they don’t want to fire a senior citizen. I dunno?

His comments were snarky, but that is ultimately on his employer moving forward.


Stuff is a damned do/don’t situation these days. No matter what you do or say someone will find offense.
 
I would blame the people that put a mic and stage in front of folks like this. Never heard of him before, but obviously he is pasted his time to be speaking in this fashion.

I’ll pay it no mind as it’s just another asshat.

People need support and to be uplifted during tragic events. Haskins was a son, husband, friend, and teammate to many and in his short time in Pittsburgh, was involved in many opportunities giving back to the community.
 
The old guy's comments were insensitive and unnecessary, but the hate for Schefter is causeless.

God forbid Schefter had the nerve to say that Haskins was a standout at Ohio State before struggling in the NFL. Better string the guy up by his testicles, because in this country, nobody can handle even a mild dose of the truth anymore.

I think there's a lot of instances of this. Bit this particular is not those. He could just have said that it was an unfortunate incident. No other comment is necessary.

Because iphone sucks and sometimes recognizes tge as a word… the g is by the h and its easy for a right handed thumb typer to hit it instead… sometimes spell check programs catch it but for some reason it doesn’t always get flagged

It's just HUMAN decentcy to not speak badly of the dead and I hear yaz steel dino.

You can talk about the deceased but in a caring way when speaking to the family or friends or in public for as soon as Gil spoke. NOT negative (if needed) until after the burial but I just make it myself to NOT talk bad at all and move on.

There is a time and place for the unvarnished truth, announcing a 24 year old's death isn't it.
