Hell of a Win

I said Mitch played good when he came in for the injured Kenny. Not disputing that.
Trying to get across that Kenny has only started 2 games so far and you have to give him time.
Trubisky on the other hand has taken all the first team snaps up until two games ago, was the starter in Chicago for three to four years. So plenty of starts and experience for Mitch but only two games for Kenny,
You have to give him time to develop and get a rhythm going.
The pass to Johnson was a completion nevertheless. He had to come back for it but it was a completion .
Some of you want to play musical chairs with the QB. That’s dangerous with a rookie that you drafted number one to be your longtime starter. Trubisky is just a guy!
Kenny will be fine I’m just going shades doesn’t destroy this kids confidence by benching him for this slug. Not a good idea.
I don’t want to play musical chairs but I don’t want the Steelers to lose games they can win either. Pickett has to play better than he did yesterday to stay on the field.

Pickett will continue to grow and play better. Hell, with the logic from some around here, we would have given up on Bradshaw his early years. Terry was horrendous his rookie year but got better every year as the offense improved.
Peyton Manning, John Elway started out rough but got much better and had HOF careers.
Not suggesting Kenny will be any of these guys but you see my point.
There’s no value in playing Trubisky and benching Kenny this year. Kenny has the talent and will get better as the season progresses and next year they have to fix the OL on the left side and upgrade center.
We’ll see how Mitch does against the Dolphins next Sunday.

I let my three "Mouser" kitties know that the STEELERS won, and they all nearly crapped themselves from the scare of my excited voice............................

KindA like most who go for their first ride with me in my LUXURY S10

EDIT: Most who ride need changing right after.

Salute the nation

You do not pull Kenny out and bench him for a backup QB, a journeyman QB who most likely is not here next year,
Why would Trubisky "most likely" not be in Pittsburgh next year? They signed him to a two-year contract.

I thought it was 2 yrs. 4M +10M next year. He ain't getting 10M to sit the bench next year. They'll offer Rudy something around 4.

I think O'Canada can script plays with the best of them but once the script runs out, he has to use his brain inside his hollow head.
Canada can script plays with the best of them? What?

The Steelers just scored their only first quarter touchdown in six games yesterday. Here's a look at their first two drives in each of the first five games, when they punted six times, threw two interceptions, and scored a grand total of three points:

Cincinnati
3 plays 9 yards, punt
3 plays 5 yards, punt

New England
3 plays 6 yards, punt
9 plays 33 yards, INT

Cleveland
4 plays 18 yards, punt
5 plays 16 yards, missed FG

New York Jets
8 plays 30 yards, punt
1 play 0 yards, INT

Buffalo
12 plays 50 yards, FG
3 plays 4 yards, punt

And we all remember how historically bad the Steelers were scoring points in the first halves of 2021 games. Canada sucks. All of the time.

It's $10.625 million next year, with 8 mill in salary. So if they unwisely decided to cut him, you can add the 2,625,000 in dead cap to the actual cost of the backup's salary. They're not going to effectively pay Rudolph 7 or 8 million to be the backup, either. With Pickett's contract only around 3 million, the Steelers will keep Mitch around as quality insurance. They should understand the value which he provided in that vein yesterday.

He doesn't come across as the type that will force his way out of Pittsburgh. I think we will see Rudolph guide his sleigh off into the sunset way before Mitch goes anywhere.

It's like a QB1 and QB1a situation right now with KP and Trubisky, in my opinion. I wish the home fans would support Mitch when he's in there...I think he'd play better if the "Kenny Kenny" chanting went away.

I wasn’t there yesterday..
But I don’t believe you heard much of that non sense ..

I think as long as he plays a little more like Sunday they will ease off of him. I think the pressure of not looking over his shoulder coming off the bench probably let's him play worry free.

To be fair, the fans knew that they could call for Kenny all they wanted and he still wasn't coming back from a concussion during that game. Could be why there wasn't much of before Mitch started playing above average ball.

Watching the replay today without the emotion. This group played as a team they all did their part one time or another in this game. They did themselves and the steeler emblem proud. Tomlin somehow put this plan together and it worked. Beating Brady in Pittsburgh, watching Tommy lose his cool against a patched-up group will be a highlight forever. Mitch from play one in his backup role pulled off five great third and long. His willing to go after the bad snap was critical then to turn it around on next play to get the first was turning point in last few minutes. Seeing Claypool come through, how he did year one was great. Great win Steelers

Apart from how well Mitch played, I think that Steelers fans are knowledgeable enough to realize that Pickett wasn't coming back into the game after suffering a concussion, so chanting his name would have really made no sense at that point.

The next two games are on the road, so hopefully Trubisky's confidence will carry over.

I think Kenny is back under center for the second road game. I don't see a scenerio that he is starting. I also think Mitch will come back to earth a little against Miami. Of course I hope he lights it up. But we'll see.

I'm happy for the win but MT isn't the second coming of Ben. The big pass yesterday for 45 yards to Heyward was a blown coverage, the LB that was suppose to be covering him was trying to call a TO. So 45 of the 144 was a fluke. Don't get me wrong I'll take the win any day. But I'm expecting more of the same old **** with Canada calling the plays Sunday. Hope I'm wrong.

If that's the standard, Kenny Pickett's first NFL touchdown pass was also a fluke, the result of a blown coverage. Stuff happens in an NFL game.

I hear ya...but he found the open guy and took advantage of it...in the middle of the field none the less!

Nope Pickett's TD was some luck also. He doesn't get a pass either. Look for the offense to suck again this Sunday.

No kidding . This isn't a superbowl team or a playoff team. Develop your qb. This is the PERFECT year to do it.

Yep he's going to make bad throws. All of them do.It's a learning process. Winning or losing a couple games at this point doesn't really matter.

It could sort itself out with a few more losses. Finishing a hair over .500 doesn't serve any purpose. They've been doing that for a long time.

It's impossible to really evaluate much in this offense which has been one of the worst I've seen in all of the years I've been watching them. Yet they've still refused to change it.

Trubisky didn't even enter the game until there was 7 minutes left in the third quarter, and still threw for those 144 yards. He made several other clutch throws besides the big gain to Heyward. Nobody said he's the second coming of Ben, but let's give the guy some credit for playing well.

That is exactly how it went.
I was there too, with the wife and boys (first game for my youngest at 11, second for my oldest at 16).
It was a great game to watch; great to see the Steelers step up and Marsha buckle under pressure.
Matched with the Pens game the night before, it was a pretty cool 24 hours in da Burgh!
