How to fix this offense and team

Somebody drafted Rudolph
Sombody didnt have a clear star to replace Ben
Somebody Brought in Tribisky in FA when it was thought Rudolph was to play.
Somebody then drafted KP in the 1st Rd.
Somebody then sat him and let Mitch play,, and subsequently benched Mitch.
Moderate success at seasons end.
Regression.
Offense is the same.
Still regression.
Of course we all agree its coaching from the top down. But we have all seen success in the past with it too.
Coaching isnt going to change before seasons end.

I understand your thoughts on 3rd string QB. I do. I disagree. Thats it.
I know im not going to change your mind and thats ok,, we still have our day jobs.

I see 1st rd picks from over the last 12 yrs or whatever, fail. Sometimes it happens. What shouldnt happen is that player staying on the field as long as they do.
This is Mike Tomlin Hallmark. You know this. So yeah somehow deep down i think he moved on from Rudolph and cant turn back, because then the mistakes are all on him.

They could turn back to Rudolph if they saw something that dictated moving back. Just like teams had an opportunity to sign him to a contract to compete for a start or a backup job but didn't.

They all didn't turn to Rudolph because they don't have faith in Rudolph.

They know he isn't the guy. I know he isn't the guy. Tomlin is allllll about squeezing victories out if he felt Rudolph could accomplish that he would be starting against the Bungles.

What you did is show the rotation of QBs in a broken scheme. Continuous rotating solves absolutely nothing. Unless the notion is to squeeze out losses over victories.

It doesn't say Kenny is playing well he isn't. That was a bad performance Sunday.

But there isn't a QB backing up the Steelers that is an answer. More than what I think the NFL thinks it as nobody outside of the Steelers brought Rudy back.

Those guys know football better than that guy that trots around Steelers Nation claiming he knows more than me, you, and Joe Blow.

Yep. Devin Bush, Artie Burns, Jarvis Jones etc all got the nod too long because of draft position. Lots of us stated on here they needed to move on from those guys earlier than later but eventually we all agreed. Look at Najee and Warren. Najee is a thousand yard back. He’s not a bad running back. But we all agree Warren is better. No one is throwing shade at the people who said it sooner than others. But when it comes to Pickett the blind love for him is insane. He’s thrown 286 more NFL passes than Rudolph. That’s 175% of Rudolph. Pickett still has 3 less passing touchdowns than Rudolph. Think about that. The low IQ people say Rudolph had his chance. Or they’ll bad mouth how stupid and moronic the coaching staff is but then say Rudolph is the third string QB. Yeah, he is. He’s in the doghouse of our moronic coaches. So was Dobbs. So was Kevin Dotson. So was James Conner. I wouldn’t trust our coaching staff as far as I could throw them with player development or evaluation. So thinking Rudolph is third string means he’s the third best QB is again just showing how little one actually knows and understands football.

Rudolf the red nosed QB',
Doesn't have a very good case,
And if you ever saw him,
You would like to punch his face.

All of us at Steeler Nation,
Used to laugh and call him names.
They didn't want poor Rudolf,
To play in any football games.

Then one foggy free agency,
Not a GM came to say,
Rudolf with your future so bright,
Come try out with our team tonight.

Then all of Steeler Nation,
Yearns to laugh and shout with glee,
In hopes that someday poor Rudolph,
Would be lost to free agency.

They need get a new OC and sign Duck Hodges as our 1st string QB - he'd be better than what we have now... He'd be cheap. Maybe sign Byron Leftwich or Dick Shiner to play QB until Duck is in playing shape, then BL could slide over to OC. This is really no more ridiculous than what is going on right now. (BTW: JOKE). Never really thought the Steelers would regress back to the days of Kent Graham, but they did, maybe worse. It was a looong wait from TB to BR. Buckle up, it may be a long wait for the next legit QB.... Hope I am wrong and hope KP sees the light.

This team has both personnel and management issues, the question is are the management issues causing the personnel issues?

Because MT won't be going anywhere until it's of his choosing, rejoice in yet another non-losing season. Even if Canada gets shown the door, his clone will simply slide into
place and follow MT's offensive philosophy.

Unless Art II tells Tomlin that Omar and Andy will pick the assistants and he is to keep his hands out of their decision making process, nothing changes and we will all continue to argue if it's the players or the coaches.
How many players in the last year or two did we opt to let walk that are doing very well elsewhere? Dotson, Spillane, several CB's to name a few. Sure, we did get rid of Claypool but Dotson was a perfect case of going to better coaching and better schemes.

Seems to be some rumblings on the net about KP8 not knowing/understanding the playbook and route adjustments. Admittedly, this idea has been brought up on other fan spaces. So, I take it with a spoonful of salt. However, if this is even remotely true, it's more than a little concerning given:

1) that the defensive players of our opponents seem to know both very well.
2) It's Matt Canada's "NFL Offense For Dummies" inspired offense and routes.

Just gonna drop this right here. Not sure if DJ is talking about Pickett when he says "Can't blame him". But since he's later given the opportunity to say something/anything about Canada's offense and refuses politely, I'm going to guess he's referring to his QB.

So thinking Rudolph is third string means he’s the third best QB is again just showing how little one actually knows and understands football.
Says you, but your wacky *** opinions points to just a load of crap.

As the third string means the third best QB in their eyes. That is why there is a pecking order in the NFL. They don't put the second best option third. They get things wrong, but free agency says they didn't.

You know those NFL professionals that know a lot more than you.

As usual you just have to throw insults in.

You seem to like digging up old posts lately. Perhaps you could dig up all the ones where you have told everyone how you can’t properly judge a QB till he has 3 full seasons in. Shouldn’t be too hard. You’ve mentioned it constantly.
You also said ( and argued about) how for your opinion to be set in stone....you want to see a QB have 1500 pass attempts. Kenny has 680. Well less than half.

Lol......I just read one where today you Say........”I was the first on this board critical of Canada”
And then bring up an old posting.

This is gold Jerry....Gold.

Your quote.
“I would say to make a fair assessment 1500 attempts. What I mean if I were to say there's no chance at this QB becoming successful in the NFL I want to see 1500 NFL passes. That is when I will set my opinion in stone. Doesn't mean I couldn't be wrong just that is where I would feel comfortable saying there's nothing here lets move on.”

You flip, flop like a beached flounder.

Your next post after that in big black bold letters you tell me.....
“And Rudolph hasn't ever been a free agent so we don't know what his free agent value will be.

That was after he signed as a FA with us.
Man,I almost forgot about that one.
Thanks for digging up that old posting in the current Kirk Cousins thread. Gave me two jewels of your expertise that I can laugh at one more time.

Of course this was much after you went on and on about how Rudy would be signed as a Free Agent in the first week of free agency and compete for a starting job. 32 teams didn’t agree with you. Never mind everyone here.

“ Low IQ people” hmmmmmm.

For the record,I’ve often been critical of Kenny, and he has been by far my biggest disappointment for a Steeler player this year. And have stated that. Didn’t mean I have totally given up on him. But man....he needs to get better.
I was also on record here saying that I was against the Mitch signing and wanted Mason to start,as I felt he was owed the opportunity at the time.

Your higher than thou type posts are getting quite tiresome.

The pathetic part is he actually believes he knows more football than everyone. Well everyone that disagrees with him.

And like cooch he forgets half the nonsense he even preaches.

I can't take anything the 🤡 thinks as serious.

Great post Steelmann and thanks for all the great ones along the way.

I may not know nearly as much as some others here, but that's OK because I have a full time business / job to run and a life to live.

I respect many a many here and appreciate their inputs along the way.

I'm in your boat Steelmann, as that the belittlement and Holier than thou while telling me what my opinion should be, is just to much. Ford's vision is _____________

I would say the biggest problem with his posts is that he doesn’t like it when he’s called out on the bs he spews. I mean no one does. But he takes it to another level. Gracious he is not.

You say this to many..... but are more so deserving of this.

I too know far less than most here about football. We all have our opinions.
He just likes to tell us what our opinions should be. 24/7. I’m too old for that ****.
After awhile it gets nauseating and something needs to be said.

Insults? Im just saying there’s people that aren’t smart and don’t understand football that talk about things outside their comprehension. Take it as you will.

Yep. And you forgot the one where I mentioned that Kenny’s potential is a moving target. And if I were to guess what the best we could hope for from Kenny is a Teddy Bridgewater type quarterback. A good backup who can spot start and not lose you any games. But that’s not a certainty. I need to see more to know for sure. But I do know this. He’s played like 💩 this season minus maybe playing average vs the Raiders and Rams. I know that if we got ANYTHING from the QB position we’d won yesterday and probably won vs Jax. We are also in a division where two starting QBs are on IR. We are in a position to push for a playoff run. So I don’t know what Pickett will be. But I do know he is holding the team back right now. I also said nothing good can happen from Rudolph starting. I said he either plays worse and we lose or plays good and we are stuck letting him walk in free agency. You know what. I was wrong. There’s no way he can play worse than Kenny. None. Kenny Pickett is playing worse than Kordell Stewart, Tommy Maddox, Bubby Brister, Mark Malone, Mike Tomczak, Landry Jones or even Kent &$£% Graham. I’m saying he needs to sit down and watch and learn from the bench. Next year give him a chance to win the starting job with a fair competition.

Of course this was much after you went on and on about how Rudy would be signed as a Free Agent in the first week of free agency and compete for a starting job. 32 teams didn’t agree with you. Never mind everyone here.

And here’s what I ACTUALLY said.

“He’s not getting a 10+ million dollar deal. Who thinks that? My guess is 5 million and incentives. But I honestly think he probably just wants to go where he is wanted and where he gets an opportunity to compete. Panthers, Jets, Giants, Bucs, and Saints all could be places. Maybe even Seahawks or Patriots. I think Geno resigns with the Seahawks and I think Pats probably stick it out one more year with Jones.”

He didn’t get the contract I thought. And didn’t get the opportunity to compete which is what I guessed was what he primarily wanted.

But you are saying I said what steelerfan448 said which is this.

I'd be stunned if he doesn't sign within the first week of free agency. Last year, I believe there were 14 quarterbacks signed the first seven days of free agency and most of them are bad quarterbacks. If a team is coming after Rudolph hard we will know because it'll either be a one-year deal for around $10 million because they want him to start, or a multi-year deal between $15-20 million as a starter. I'm not sure signing a guy to compete for a starting job qualifies as going after them "hard." Either way, he should be signed within the first week and probably within the first few days.

“ Low IQ people” hmmmmmm.

When I’m wrong I admit it. In the Rudolph resigning thread this is what I said on that.

I will eat crow on this one. I would have bet my left nut he would have went anywhere other than here. I mean there's a lot of easy backup spots with the potential of getting an injury start out there. Packers, Rams, Jax and maybe even San Fran if they trade Trey. Depending on how much he costs us it makes sense. I mean having a deep QB room is important especially with a young QB on the roster. But I honestly can't believe the Rams with a bum shoulder Stafford and the non-college graduate at 26 Stetson Bennet as a backup wouldn't throw an offer at Rudolph. Unless they plan on tanking to get Caleb Williams or Drake Maye.

1. Fire Matt Canada. I don't care who calls plays. It gives the team the impression they're trying to make a positive change.
2. Start Warren and get him 20+ touches per game, Harris 10-12 touches per game.

3. Decide what your goals are. If it's to learn about Pickett, let him throw the ball all over the field. Maybe he has 3 bad games in a row with multiple interceptions and then it starts to click. Maybe it doesn't, at least we'll learn something. If it's to make the playoffs, bench Pickett. You can go with the more mobile, but more careless Trubisky or the safer veteran with Mason.

People here are smart and understand football just fine twatwaffle. Fans here also comprehend just fine.

It is your football judgement that looks suspect and narrow minded.

1.) Fire Matt Canada and hire a legit OC with credentials.....Jon Gruden or someone similar
What makes you think anyone without experience would want to take a job where you are expected to to run the HC’s offensive philosophy?
2.) Fire Teryl Austin
What makes you think anyone without experience would want to take a job where you are expected to to run the HC’s defensive philosophy?
3.) Draft a LT or RT and move Jones to LT
Yes, another T or two is warranted
4.) Draft ILB
Yes, another ILB is warranted
5.) Draft Center
This should have been done before drafting a RB in the 1st round. Now is better than never.
6.) Give Kenny Pickett 1 more season under a new OC then make the decision to keep or release
I would even go so far as also give Rudy a chance to make the team, as a B/U

not about ford. Other people feel that way too. He just posts shittily like coach does.
I really don’t care anymore. I ignored a bunch of the Low IQ crowd a year ago to unignore them all to see the likes of slashsteel literally commenting and trash talking and name calling me on every single post. The guy knows absolutely nothing about football. And not only that he’s unlucky. Because even with some luck you would accidentally say something correct now and again. Not him. Every single thing he says is wrong. So if people want to know what is right just look at his post and assume the opposite is correct. But the fact no one on here would tell him to stfu is where I just gave up giving a 💩. I mean I write for this site, do my free research and my draft board so far has been the best on the internet. I mean find one that had Puka Nacua or Keaton Mitchell as second round picks. And I am wrong all the time. That’s why I put my mock along mock and boards up for people to see. Because I won’t learn if I don’t hold myself accountable. But after helping and contributing hours of content and helping on this site to just have everyone ignore someone who was one sided blasting me. Yeah. I don’t care. Maybe I should let it go but if something was doing that to someone else on here and I noticed I would definitely have stood up for the person who obviously was ignoring the Low IQ bully.

Well Ford your frustration with it all bleeds thru via insults. And i think youre giving what you are getting. I get it that you dont care anymore. I keep waiting for the back and forth trash to stop, because there is good foodball talk in there,, .

You know, if you would just stick to the discussion, and quit all the personal attacks, or looking for personal attacks of yourself, your mangina wouldn’t hurt so much.
