Have no idea, but it's alright. Moving on.if you have been here for a few years, then recall the grease fire and glock stuff
The Steelers needed to limit the Ravens' running game to have any shot, and not only did they fail to limit it, they were ran over.
Regardless of how good Lamar and Henry are, it is hard to excuse allowing nearly 300 yards on the ground, considering that is about three times what the Steelers allowed per game through the season.
Another pathetic first half for the offense that was made even more frustrating by the two impressive TDs drives they had in the second half, as it implied they're capable of more earlier games.
The preparation during the week seems to really be lacking, but as it relates to the coaching, Tomlin's recent contract guarantees he's not going anywhere.
The late season collapse should and probably will prompt major changes to the staff.
DC and OL coach are the mostly likely to see changes. I like a lot of things Arthur Smith did earlier in the season, but it is hard to justify bringing him back with the offense failing to score 20 points in each of the last five games.
Regarding the players, there are some big decisions to be made regarding Russ, Fields and Pickens. Even if they keep Pickens, WR has to be a top priority in the offseason as well as DL.
All and all, I feel pretty ******* stupid for allowing myself to become the slightest bit optimistic after the 10-3 start. I had seen the Tomlin Show enough times to have known better.
A down season here and there is okay as well, but with what you just brought up here.I will say this much. The team is built by Tomlin who has heavy influence on the draft and free agency.
He hires the coordinators and position coaches.
He is responsible for player development and discipline and keeping his team focused and prepared.
So with that being said my expectations or my ceiling for this HC is a ten win season making the playoffs with a quick wildcard exit.
I keep hearing from these idiots on ESPN about the team not giving him a QB but gays nonsense.
He wanted and picked Kenny Pickett and proclaimed “we have our guy”.
Then when that failed went out and got Wilson and Fields.
is that this has failed my expectations will remain the same for next season, A ceiling of ten wins and a first round exit.
You can't ignore that. They did something tonight that they haven't done all season. Lamar kept the ball a half dozen times to start the game and he got right into the D head. You can't defend the effort that was put out there the 1st half. You can blame a lot on the coaching staff but effort is on the players. You cant defend Tomlin or any of the coaching staff because the game plan just wasn't there. It was sort a tale of two halfs this game, but yet we are 5 straight losses.
Much credit to the Ravens....it was going to be hard to stop Lamar and Henry both. Lamar is way too dynamic of a player to lose to a DC like TA so I knew eventually it would catch up to us.
You have to score early or this is what you get. And he now has a real running back and that changed the equation a lot more. TJ Spent the night trying to crash down but that freed up Lamar. What we need is some young d Line. Cam and Benton couldn’t do it by themselves. Adams and Larry O were bad.Can we finally stop perpetuating the myth that we have Lamar's number. We don't.
The first two Ravens TD drives they ran the ball every down. Still Minkah was lining up 15-20 yards off the ball. Wtf?
I really thought this year was different and we'd improve throughout the season. I never expected a Super Bowl but expected better than this. Wrong again !
Tomlin is reported to have a no trade clause as part of his contract...which they wouldn't consider anyway as long as his win streak continues. Once he gets the record who knows. They really should try to trade Tomlin. AT some point a coach runs his course for a team. The Pats forced out Belicheck. The most successful coach in history. The Eagles fired Andy Reid even though they still thought he was a good coach. They saw the team was in a rut and needed change.
Steelers need a change. It seems Tomlin has become a dictator. He inherited not only a great team, but a great coaching staff. As they left 1 by 1, he replaced them with mediocre talents, guys who wouldn't speak up or challenge Tomlin on anything.
Because of the great coaching staffs, the steelers used to be one of the most innovative teams, always prepared. With each coaching replacement, the gameplan got simpler and simpler.
I have a feeling that Tomlin restricts Arthur Smith and we know that Tomlin himself is the real DC, Austin is just his buffer.
I wonder if the steelers slow starts are because they follow Tomlin's gameplan on offense and defense. Only after it's an utter failure, then he allows his OC and DC to do what they want and things improve.
For example, maybe Smith wants a more balanced attack but Tomlin insists they run the ball a ton, even if it's ineffective. Maybe he wants Warren out there, but Tomlin insists Najee is the guy. Maybe he wants Roman Wilson out there, but Tomlin is playing some mind game with Wilson and won't let him play. Maybe he wanted Justin Field along with lots of RPO stuff, but Tomlin wanted a power run game with pocket passing.
Something has to change. Coaches must be fired. They need some innovative outside hires.
All and all, I feel pretty ******* stupid for allowing myself to become the slightest bit optimistic after the 10-3 start. I had seen the Tomlin Show enough times to have known better.
that you oneforthebus?I will say once more the defense gets all the yea we are good, they did nothing in the first half to stop Ravens. Smith can be the OC when Tomlin stops having him be his puppet. Same old thing run run pass for a half no movement because the defense knows this. All at once play calls we are making plays, Wilson can throw down field, running game looks some what better. Give me grief but Porter is not this hot shot, penalties bad tackling. Sutton why we resignerd him he did zero. No physical play on defense soft tackling stats prove it. Offens gets going defense allows down the field TD. Rooney needs to see the light Tomlin time is up, out coached outplayed five games in a row. We were not in this game after pour first punt. Offens one negative play we are done agin showed tonihgt. We had a better season than we thouyght playoff game was great but we did not show up. Have a lot of holes to fill. Wait till next year. Steeler fans have a Happy New Year.
Because at that point, being down by 21 they had to start attacking and trying to win. The 1st half was just another game plan of try to keep it close so they could maybe, possibly try to win it in the last minutes. We scored more points than them in 2nd half..
So there’s that..
Wouldn’t you be doing that too? Seeing your career go down the drain tends to create an employee looking for an out, especially when you are hired for a job then not allowed to actually do it.Offense was never the same since Smith was being linked to other jobs. He was too concerned about where he's going to be next season.
If eleven men are handed slingshots and asked to run up the hill and take the top being defended by 11 men with rifles will they do it enthusiastically? You can't defend the effort that was put out there the 1st half. You can blame a lot on the coaching staff but effort is on the players. You cant defend Tomlin or any of the coaching staff because the game plan just wasn't there. It was sort a tale of two halfs this game, but yet we are 5 straight losses.
