Initial Thoughts on ratbird Playoff Game

I agree. How many times on a run play did the Steelers tackle the RB that did not have the ball while Jackson racked upyrds?
You could watch TJ all game and see what the plan was. Key on Henry, don’t let him beat you. Well they did, AND he still did PLUS Action Jackson too.

Im talking on the field ****, but yes Rooney needs to kick his *** out the door, its just as much on Rooney.
No, really it is on the fans. When they start banding together and make his life a PR nightmare, he will be forced to do something. Unfortunately that is liable to be another extension of Tomlin’s contract.

With social media, private media and everyone and their brother on podcasts, there should be a FIRESTORM of discontent for the ownership group to be bombarded with each day. Run their names in the ground because of their feckless complicity, daily. Make all of them persona non grata, and see how soon they act in their financially best interests.

It's slowly happening, the past two seasons, there has been zero energy around this team from the fans, usually there's tons of people in Steeler Jerseys before playoff games, but I saw very few this weekend. Just listen to the few fans that the news interviewed, they were so defeated before the game was ever played, everyone knows we can't compete and we are slowly becoming a damn punchline.

Can we finally stop perpetuating the myth that we have Lamar's number. We don't.

The first two Ravens TD drives they ran the ball every down. Still Minkah was lining up 15-20 yards off the ball. Wtf?

I really thought this year was different and we'd improve throughout the season. I never expected a Super Bowl but expected better than this. Wrong again 😡!

Well now we don’t have his number for sure.
But we certainly had his number, so it wasn’t a myth.

Meh.

I expected to lose because that is Mikey Sunglasses MO.

WATT isn’t getting any younger and obviously Coach Tom Lin is going to have figure out what to do as TJ’s production lowers.

If this year is any indication, I think it will be about the same——- not scheming / allowing TJ to be schemed out of the play.

I’m curious to see what year end interviews and “state of the STEELERS” address will be like.

TJ unfortunately is at the stage of his career where he needs to be operating at optimal conditions (injury free) to be effective. It seems to me he hasn't been effective at the end of the season the past few years. In the NFL nobody is injury free at the end of the NFL season. No tackles, assists or sacks his last 120+ snaps is mind boggling. I know it's sacrilege around here but TJ shouldn't get off without scrutiny.

More mind boggling is the Ravens are running the ball down our throats and still Minkah is lining up 15-20 yards off the line of scrimmage. Unbelievable no adjustments were even attempted by Tomlin/Austin.

I don't think I've ever looked less forward to a next season than 2025.. Steelers have had some bad endings but I don't think we've ever been ***** slapped like this the last 6 games.

Yep. Teams, the second half of the year especially have figured out how to scheme against, Watt, chip him, have the OT waiting, then sometimes have the RB or RG helping the RT. In the past it was chip, the just the RT, which an elite player can beat often, but no one is going to consistently beat 3 guys. The problem is Tomlin refuses to make any adjustments to help. If they are dedicating so many to Watt then ******* blitz up the middle or from Highsmith's side where you'll have a definite numbers advantage, do that enough, you'll force them to start sliding their protection, but when you just rush 4 guys 95% of the time, well those teams know where the pass rushers are coming from, LT takes Highsmith, LG and C take our 2 DL, leaving the TE, RG, RT, RB to scheme against Watt.

He's had two sacks the past few games that didn't count due to penalty. He also drew two holding calls against the bengals. It's not like he isn't doing anything. But he looks exhausted, and he should be. He's been rushing against a chip, double, triple team all year long with ZERO help from the coaches to help scheme away from being able to do that to him. The steelers pressure rate jumps up when he was off the field this year because teams don't respect the other rushers like they do with TJ. He's still a force, but he's being wasted. If this is how they plan on using him here on out, he should force a trade himself.

I think the idea that Austin and Tomlin had for Minkah was similar to what Baltimore did with Hamilton. But more extreme. Hamilton still came down into the box, he just spent more time in his true safety spot, not the entire game, every game. Tomlin is so stubborn, he prob would have done that to Polamalu as well.

The Steelers needed to limit the Ravens' running game to have any shot, and not only did they fail to limit it, they were ran over.

Regardless of how good Lamar and Henry are, it is hard to excuse allowing nearly 300 yards on the ground, considering that is about three times what the Steelers allowed per game through the season.
Question: would it have been legal for Watt to have taken Lamar every time instead of Henry on that option? Could he have blown up #8 over and over instead of taking Henry?

Minkah had a terrible game , a terrible last 5 games, and terrible season and should be traded/cut faster than you can say "we took Terrell Edmunds in the first?"
Agree. Unless they plan to fix how he is being used, the guy is just a hollow shell of what we thought had when they traded for him.
