Interesting claim that a number 2 WR will be added.

If wilson can do what chase claypool did.. Id just roll with what we have. I think receiver market is flooded and there are other guys to be had without losing draft equity and spending big money.

If it's so flooded, why haven't they been able to bring in anyone close to Diontae Johnson's caliber yet? It's June now for Christ sake.

The more time passes, the more it's looking like trading DJ was a mistake, as it's a month before training camp and there is still nothing of notable performance or experience behind Pickens.

I'm honestly getting tired of reading about the Steelers making a "big move" at WR, as it has been going on for months now.

Khan either needs to **** or get off the pot at this point.

It almost seems like he had another move in mind when he traded DJ, but it fell through before the draft and he had no plan B.

Maybe he's not perfect after all.

Now adays every throws out a story of ****...throws it up onto the wall. Stands back and waits.....to see if anything sticks. Zero facts. Journalism is dead.

Well, when it comes to clickbait media, I take all of it with a grain of salt. Let's see what pans out. Reading about the "big move" of Steelers WR move has been tiresome, no doubt.

That would be a nice addition

This team would be a serious contender if they added Aiyuk to go on the other side of Pickens. It just would.

I don't know what it is; there is just something about Aiyuk that I just don't feel good about. Of course the 9ers system is gonna inflate his #'s. Would he really be the answers to our O?

Sign Aiyuk, then can they even think of signing GP next year? It would be tough potentially having 2 WR's making $25+ million per.
They should have a decent amount to take care of Pickens next season. But sure two high priced WRs might be difficult.

I am not thinking they get Aiyuk. But in that scenario, you trade GP to the highest bidder outside of the afc north

Word is SF is offering Aiyuk $26 mill but he is looking for $30 mill per. I doubt Kahn/Rooney is looking to spend in that neighborhood. JuJu it is, with his shot knee.

If looking at JuJu, why not look at Michael Thomas. Before his injuries, he was the best WR in the league.

It's not Sept. yet. Let's see what he can cook up between now and then.

Managing the cap is a percentage game.
The trick is setting a value in %of cap space per each position and role, then determining the individual player's production above replacementto determine what percentage of the cap you should allocate to them

For instance, Antonio Brown... who was the most productive WR we ever had and the best at his position in his era signed a deal in 2017 that the average per year was for basically a smidge over 10% of the 2017 cap..
in the 2025 year we are looking at around 273 million in cap space... so 26 million is very fair for a good, but not best in the league good wr...

There is so much up in the air with this team right now. If Russ has a good/great year, we will most-likely want to bring him back for 2025 and, this just in, it won't be for league minimum if that happens. Most-likely in the 30's of millions. If he goes off, and get's us to the conference championship game, he could even be near the top in QB pay. Ouch. If, say he doesn't have a great year, but Fields shows some strong play, then his salary could be way up there. The only way we see nearly as cheap as a QB price as 2024 is if we draft a QB and add some cheap veteran. (And the last time we drafted a QB, we didn't do so well, so you have to factor that in.)

I'd GLADLY sign Aiyuk and move on from Pickens next year. Aiyuk is a true professiinal and a gamer.

Aiyuks contract desires are only one part of the equation. What is SF going to ask for in trade? I suspect a lot now, but that may well go down in camp if the interested buyers market dries up a bit.

I would rather have Deebo who has 2 years of contact control to deal with. No?

Again why would they trade him? Unless they traded him for another wr they would be hurting their super bowl chances this season...

If we gave them Pickens it would just be trading an inexpensive 1 wr for a more expensive one and probably giving up picks on top of that..

Aiyuk is still under contract this year... he isnt permitted to hold out ... it isnt like he has an unsigned franchise tender... he has a contract.. if he holds out into the season while under contract, he will lose a year towards free agency...

The 9rs have no reason to trade him or sign him to an extension... he wants 30 million.. the projected 2025 wr franchise tag cost is 25 million... they could franchise tag him and trade him next year... or just tag him the next two years... the 2026 cost will be about 30 million assuming he was tagged for 25 million in 25...

They arent in any cap trouble... there just isnt any logical reason outside of an overpayment for them to sell either wr this season

Don't know if they will have the cap space to franchise him next year, with Purdy getting his new contract adding up with Samuel, Kittle, McCarthy, etc
