I was mostly skeptical of the Aiuyk deal before the draft. Scoff at it now. They were a couple plays away from the SB last year. They are not removing talent.
Aiyuk is at best a middle of the road WR #1 talent, he's not the superstar he wants to be paid like. On a normal offense without the other pieces, Purdy, Mcaffrey, Deebo, Kittle he would be average. Guy isn't fast or freakish, just has the benefit of playing on one of the best offenses in the NFL.Word is SF is offering Aiyuk $26 mill but he is looking for $30 mill per. I doubt Kahn/Rooney is looking to spend in that neighborhood. JuJu it is, with his shot knee.
My thoughts exactly. Paying him $25-30 mill is a joke.Aiyuk is at best a middle of the road WR #1 talent, he's not the superstar he wants to be paid like. 25-30 million for Aiyuk is a Joke. Any WR#1 in the league puts up those numbers or better on that team.
Yeah its a liberalized Earhardt type offense... Te is a bigger threat than WR2 ....I gotta be honest here. I’m not sure if they will add another ‘name’ receiver. If they do, great. I think they roll with what they have. The Arty Smith offense really is more tight end/RB centric.
We are hardly "overly stocked" at the TE position either. Who do we have that are so dominant at the TE position?Yeah its a liberalized Earhardt type offense... Te is a bigger threat than WR2 ....
I don’t think many said that Washington was the next Eric Greene. I can’t even remember one poster saying that.We are hardly "overly stocked" at the TE position either. Who do we have that are so dominant at the TE position?
1.) Muth, a 2nd-round pick who has under-performed so far in his career. After putting up 7 TDs as a rookie, has just 2 TDs in the last 2 years. Avg. a little over 50 catches a season in 3 years. Has shown signs here and there but not worthy of where he was drafted so far, considering we passed on the best C in the game to draft him.
2.) Washington - a behemoth TE who many said was the next Eric Greene. Well, not even close, so far. I have stated all along: Just because he's huge doesn't mean he can catch. I still say he's a glorified OT.
3.) Connor Heyward - Who? Oh that's right Cam's little brother; the only TE in the NFL under 6'. And for good reason. Connor is only on the roster due to Tomlin's obsession with adding brothers to the roster. How's the working out for you, Mikey?
4.) MyCole Pruitt - Who?
5.) Rodney Williams. Who?
Yeah pretty much. I’m not buying into all of the clickbait, unless Kahn surprises us with a move, the obvious is what’s right in front of us on paper. We’ll see how training camp shakes outYeah its a liberalized Earhardt type offense... Te is a bigger threat than WR2 ....

I think a lot has to do with who is throwing the football. Ben always seemed to make players look very good.We picked up Jerricho Cotchery in August . He played for 3 seasons here. He did ok. He wasnt #2 material by then. But he did put up 600 one season for us.

Another sign that shows you don’t understand the game or player evaluation. We are hardly "overly stocked" at the TE position either. Who do we have that are so dominant at the TE position?

Congratulations you actually dissed an entire positional group. You have exceeded even your lofty whimsical standards.
Unless they want to sign a QB to throw to them next yearThey should have a decent amount to take care of Pickens next season. But sure two high priced WRs might be difficult.

Muth had Ben as a rookie, the primary reasons for having all those TDs. His sophomore season he caught over 60 passes again and had 730 rec yards. He was averaging 11.5 yds per catch all the while playing in the high school offense Canada implemented. Not to mention with QBs who was a turnover machine or a rookie playing backyard football. Last year he battled injuries checked in only 12 games and played even less. Still averaged almost 10 yds/catch with a competent play caller opening up the middle of the field.
“Many said”. Only you have ever compared Washington to Eric Greene. Verify the “many” you have opined, other wise it’s another made up, or “ I forgot where” BS statement. Glorified OT? He was used as a red zone weapon exclusively while at UGA, and his size was more indicative of a 12/13 personnel move TE potential that got him drafted. He would need to gain another 50 lbs to even be considered for OL development.
Connor Heyward is your basic H-back/TE hybrid player. Has been productive as a moving piece blocker/rub route position player who plays ST. He makes plays when he’s on the field.
Mycole Pruitt, has been with Art Smith since he was OC at TEN and followed him to ATL. He, Cordelle Patterson and Scottie Miller will help transition Smith‘s offense to his new players.
The rationalization this clown uses to prove his opinions is embarrassing for clowns in general. The fact is that It’s a fantastical examination of how Tomlin lives in his head.
“The O’Canada effect”…..that’s brilliant Drink! I’m borrowing that phrase for now on!!VERY 2well said Ike, thanks for all your great post(s) along the way.
One must remember the O’Canada affect. It’s kind of like comparing two different eras’ of football. That offensive playing scheme / play calls / preparation was as far apart as comparing the 70’s to the 2020’s teams.
Points well made.
Salute the nation
We will see this during the season, not in shorts in June. The rumor is that Roman Wilson could be the next Hines Ward.
A seek and destroy, knock 'em on their *** never taking a play off WR.

By saying this you are pretty much agreeing with Greg Loyds point?Muth had Ben as a rookie, the primary reasons for having all those TDs.
When you say red zone weapon did you mean blocking? He was used as a red zone weapon exclusively while at UGA,
